They were working on the sign this morning, but with the fog they obviously could not see.I saw something big on the ground so it was probably the outer part of the new sign.
Whizzer is the best roller coaster in MY WORLD!
Some people take roller coasters as rides, some as passions,I take them as life!
Yes, the same base is being used. This is also what allowed the sign to be changed as the old sign violates Gurnee's current sign policy, but since it is still partially the old sign they gave it the OK.
It will most likely be up by the end of the week. It does not take long to put up a sign. It may take a little longer to get the Digital LED Display to work.
http://themeparkcritic.com/scripts/profile/ViewProfile.asp?ViewID=2909 A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!
looks like something that was state of the art in like the 80's or early 90's, the base is way to wide for that sign, and the top part just resting on that triangular LED screen looks ghetto, should have been raised some. But I guess as long as it works it will be an improvement, at least til the first decent storm rolls though and pops holes in that huge plastic top part.
I mean they could have at least made the top part the same shape as the LED screen part, or vise versa.

I bet they will mostly likely paint the base when it is all done. As for the Sign it is an improvement over the previous sign, but it could be better. Don't be surprised if the sign gets replaced again 5-10 years from now when Six Flags has more money to spend and Gurnee bane on these types of signs expires.
just had a thought, that base (well the old sign) was 3-4 years newer than PKI's old sign, and how long ago did PKI's sign fall over? 2 years about, or something like that
Maybe there is still hope though I'm sure that LED Reader board isnt cheap, they better insure it
Also with the shape of the reader boards, from ground level it will completely cover up the Hurricane Harbor part of the sign at the very bottom.
I take it corperate chose this sign and not the park.
