EuroTrip Day 8- Moviepark and drive to Tripsdrill

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby FParker185 on November 11th, 2006, 9:44 pm
Well, another day in Germany...

So wakeup time comes and goes and sooner or later I wake up, pack up and hit the road (at clerkless hotels there is no need to check out), and I make my way to Movie Park which was about 100 miles north of my hotel, and I get there around noon and I park, a quick background MoviePark is formerly Warner Brothers Movie World which was owned in limited partnership with Six Flags who owned all the WB themes, so SF sold the Euro Parks a few years back and everything at the park lost it's theme and got really generic themes that dont always make sense, so I get to the ticket booth and see the sign that Cop Car Chase (formerly Lethal Weapon Persuit) will be closed, but I knew that going in as it was about to start being dismantled, so check 2 Racing, Dueling Intamin Loopers off my list, and also to add insult The High Fall will be closed (Acrophobia type ride), but I figured I'm there already and I wont be back anytime soon so..

I pay my exorbantly high admission fee of €25.20 seeing as the 2 main attractions are closed long term, but I pay it and head in. The park is bizarre to say the least, there is Universal style and quality themeing but what the themeing represents has had it's name changed and that stuff scratched out of this awesome themeing. So I start heading for the coasters first but get sidetracked by a Top Spin which was running programs but I noticed from watching it, people werent getting one program, they were getting just about all of them in the span of about a 15-20 min ride. So I wait on the midway til they unlock the restraints then I get in line (cant sit in line, and there was no one in the line), so I get on the ride and the guy waits about 10 mins to get close to a full ride locks us in and gets started, the Standard Huss programs I could identify were 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8, I think he may have done 5 as well, and they were not in that order, I know he did not do 1 or 9 as all programs contained inversion which one has none of and 9 is a test cycle containing 10+ minutes of solid inversions. So that was fun, though Top Spin gets boring after not to long and by the time the guy let us off at least half of the people on the ride were begging and pleading to be let off (out of sheer boredom) :) Also after KMG Discovery and the Superman 2 at Prater it's hard for a top spin type ride to impress me anymore. :)

After that it was time for some coasters, walked past the closed abandoned lookig High Fall and ditto for Cop Car Chase and I make my way to The Bandit, the parks wooden coaster formerly Wild Wild West, it is a RCCA coaster that opened with Intamin trains that were so horrible it made Premeir trains look good so they switched to those. Yeah, it's easily the second worst wood coaster I have ever ridden, just behind SOB, it rode exactly like SOB, felt like riding a jackhammer inside a shopping cart that's going down flights of steps. Terrible, though it is a near clone of Viper layout wise.

From that it was SLC time, it's called FX, formerly Eraser, it was very SLC-ish and the OTSR's reeked horribly. From there I was done with coasters in this half of the park with no intention of riding either coaster again, I hit up a frisbee on the way back which was running quite a decent cycle, though again after XXL it couldnt impress me. Also on the way back to the center of the park I rode a Wave Swinger which gave me god views over a fence of Cop Car Chase which at the time was still intact., so I get back to the center of the park (park is shaped like a T, with the bottom of the T being the front gate) and I wander the other way which is mainly a kids oriented area, and I see a rather incredibly themed Roller Skater which appeared to be a Wile E. Coyte Grand Canyon Blaster, I mean Rockit Coaster, and it was pretty decent. So I had one coaster left to ride that being a Wild Mouse with heavy themeing, it was inside 1/2 a house, with huge walls on 2 sides of the ride making it look like a house that you can see into which made sense with the former name, Tom and Jerry's Mouse in the House, but now it's Mad Mannor, though it was an OK mouse and I got a double ride as no one was waiting in line, after that I walked back to the other end of the park to the SLC just to make sure I didnt miss anything which I really didnt though I rode a small ASR Breakdance back near Bandit, and on the way back to the other end I picked up a slurpee type drink which had it's flavor mislabeled, said Erdbeer (strawberry) but the flavor was obviously cherry, but I got a souvineer cup anyways, rode the mouse a few more times, and headed to the front gate where I rode the Great Movie Ride or whatever they call it, which is sort of a backstage look at the movie props kind of ride, I enjoyed it as it encircled Cop Car Chase and I got plenty of good pics and also I saw their flume with looked incredibly themed, though I didnt ride as it was a soaker. So it was like 3:00 and I headed out as this was a zig zag due to park scheduling, this park was 60 miles north of my hotel, my next hotel was about 160 miles south of my previous hotel, so I had about a 250 mile drive though 4 super major cities, so I hit the road and I start hitting my first Traffic (stau) of the trip which I guess wasnt to bad, though I was in traffic most of the way to the Tripsdrill area, with the final 20 or so highway miles being jam packed solid, didnt get to my hotel til 9pm cause of this, though I did get lost heading the 20 or so miles from the highway to my hotel which was not in Tripsdrill but in the neighboring city of Zaberfeld and it was on a confusing road, though I eventually found it after a couple of drives though town.

Hotel this night was Seegasthof. I'll just say right now, if anyone here plans on going to Tripsdrill, drop me a line you need the info for this hotel, was one of the most amazing and unexpected hotels of the trip, first off I pull in and the owner of the place is waiting outside for me, though 9pm is a tad late for most hotels, but she greets me and says they've been expecting me, though that's pretty much all the english she spoke, then I do the paperwork and she leads me to my room, another background, Zaperfield is in the middle of farmland, in the middle of absolutely nowhere, though only like 10 mins from Tripsdrill, I mean it's really in Bufu so she leads me to my room and my jaw hits the floor, and she asks me if it will be ok, of course I accept as what i was shown was a full apartment, so I run and repark the car and get the bags and run back to my room and I start looking around, there was a Kitchen, Dining room, living room with a nice couch, walkin closet, bathroom with bathtub and seperate shower and this bathroom was bigger than some rooms I've had on this trip, then there is the Bedroom with more huge closet space, a utility room in my room with electric panels and what not, then a small room off the living room with a crib in it, while this was the most expensive hotel of my trip at €40 for the night, I think I got my moneys worth, and oh yeah I had a huge balcony with access from both the living room and bedroom, the balcony was like 30 feet long and had tables and whatnot, so I go out on the balcony and look up and it was outright amazing, being in the middle of bufu at least 100 miles from a major city the sky was black and clear, there were literally thousands of stars in the sky, and you could see the Milky Way streaking across the sky, I took loads of pics of this room, and sooner or later they will show up online :)
Oh and also nifty the doors for the deck on the outside they had that roll up metal garage door type of shade which I like for some reason :)

So I took in the view for quite some time, drank my cheap premium beer out of the mini bar (though it was a Weiss, Krystal Weiss to be exact, I dont care to much for Weiss beer), according to the bottle sitting here it was Malteser and appears to be a Stuttgart brewed beer. And after that i backed up pics, viewed all my pics on TV, took in some CNN and hit the sack.
