Six Flags announces new Guest/Dress code regulations

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

What are your thoughts on these new policies for next year, I think it will be a positive change if strictly enforced.

Six Flags Announces Guest Code of Conduct for All Its Parks

New Initiative Is the Most Recent Element in Company's Commitment to
Improving the Family Environment Throughout Its Parks

NEW YORK, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Six Flags (NYSE: SIX)
announced today a new Guest Code of Conduct to support its goal of
improving the family environment throughout its parks. To encourage all Six
Flags guests to be considerate of others in the park, the Six Flags Guest
Code of Conduct will require them to comply with a set of rules and
policies designed to make the park experience fun, safe and appropriate for
children and families.
The Six Flags Guest Code of Conduct centers around four areas essential
to maintaining a family-friendly park atmosphere -- Behavior, Dress Code,
Language, and Park Policy Compliance -- and will be posted prominently
outside the ticket sales areas of every Six Flags park. While all Six Flags
parks currently implement individual policies customized for their varied
rides and attractions, this is the first time that the company is asking
all park guests to comply with an overarching code of conduct that covers
all its parks. The parks' individualized policies will remain in effect as
well.
"For the 2007 season, we will be implementing another park policy
designed to enhance the family experience at all our parks -- the Six Flags
Guest Code of Conduct. We announced our non-smoking policy for the 2006
season, and it continues to garner extremely positive responses from our
guests; with the Six Flags Guest Code of Conduct, we are taking another
step on the road to standardizing the Six Flags operation nationwide so
that the brand is synonymous with family-friendly," said Mark Shapiro, Six
Flags President and CEO.
The Six Flags Guest Code of Conduct
Six Flags' goal is to provide entertainment to guests of all ages in a
fun and safe environment appropriate for children and families. To
encourage all our guests to be considerate of other guests, they are
required to comply with the following rules for expected guest conduct.
Behavior: All guests are expected to behave in an appropriate family-
friendly manner. Unruly, disruptive or offensive behavior, including line-
jumping/holding places in line is strictly prohibited and will not be
tolerated. Violations of this policy may be cause for ejection from the
park without refund.
Dress Code: In keeping with our family-friendly atmosphere, and for
health and safety reasons, Six Flags strictly enforces a dress code. Proper
attire must be worn in the park at all times, including shirts and
appropriate footwear. Clothing with rude, vulgar or offensive language or
graphics is not permitted at any time (shirts cannot be turned inside out
as a solution). Bathing suits may be worn only in waterpark areas.
Park admission may be denied if clothing is deemed by management to be
inappropriate.
Language: Guests using profanity or abusive language, symbols or
gestures may be ejected from the park without refund.
Park policy compliance: Guest safety is our top priority. In addition
to the Six Flags Guest Code of Conduct, guests are required to comply with
all local, state and federal laws as well as individual park policies,
rules and instructions posted or otherwise listed.

I like this, especially the line jumping part, let's see if they actually enforce it though.

Hopefully the management now will enforce these policies rather than pay them lip service like they have in the past.
Maybe complaints made will get some action this time!

I'm really sure they are going to kick someone out of the park for swearing. I don't do it, but that's a little over the top. They act like they are starting to do something completely different. It's always been there.

Line jumping is a bad thing, but it's one little thing that doesn't contribute to a person's day anway. It doesn't happen that much. I have noticed it maybe 3 or 4 times this year, and it's not a big deal. I only get mad when multiple people do it in line.

Vulgar is bad as before as in shirts. They act like they did something great before (with smoking), and then they go on to say let's improve upon the other stuff. Give me a break. He's too worried about the marketing, and thinks that people are automatically going to come to the park. These little things don't do a lot for the park to announce it.

I just want to say something about the season passes. You get a lot of things with a season pass. You almost get too much. They have the Dream Night now along with getting in early, or Coasters after Dark, some discounts, getting in early at Hurricane Harbor/Shows, you get free/half price/cheaper coupons for friends, and lastly you get unlimited admission to the park plus unlimited admission to all the other parks. They need to cut back on this.

It doesn't even cost two times coming to the park paying full admission. This means that the season pass should be lower, or the admission price should be lower. I think the season pass should be a little higher, and the admission should be lower. They don't need all these perks either.

One last thing I should say is that on the season pass (directly on it), it should say that you can use at many SF parks in big letters on the front. I betcha not a lot of people realize this. Heck, one person somewhere asked if they got in free to Magic Mountain during Fright Fest.

I know it's on the back, but how many people really read the back. There would be a lot more tourism by more than enthusiasts. Once they start going to the other parks, then you can charge a season pass that is higher like Cedar Fair does.

Why wouldn't they? I dont know if they will enforce it, but they already do this at other parks. Best example, Holiday World, they are serious about it there.

Right now, I think that Six Flags is making a turn in the right direction if they actually enforce all of these things because if they do, they will get families back in the park in greater numbers.

I hope they do throw people out of the park for using profane language, using profanities in public isnt going to lead to a family style atmosphere, nor does line jumping.
If they do throw out people for violating park rules or cancel there season pass and the word gets out that the park is serious about doing this, I think it will help improve the behavior of guests in the park.

The reason the saesonpass's are as cheap as they are and the reason they offer perks is because they have to do this to induce people to buy them and visit more often. If the company didnt have to offer these parks/season pass's prices they wouldnt do so. It is all a result of supply and demand, and im sure they hope if they can change the customer perception of the parks then they can raise prices and reduce perks.

i thought it was already this way....i hate seeing ladies walking around in just bikini tops in the theme park in the summers....it's very inappropriate...

I think they would throw someone out for swearing...i'll admitt it, i do swear a lot, but it is kind of inappropriate to do it around little kids....

it doesn't seem like much new stuff...just a good reinforcement.

^That's why I think it's a bad idea considering the swearing. You do it, and probably so many other people do it. It's how people are. People might not even be around, and they are swearing. To me, it doesn't really matter if people have bikinis on in the regular park. It was quite fun. :D

So, why exactly does it matter?? I don't know. Probably the only reason why they do this is so you have to buy a locker at the park. So, they aren't thinking of anything but money. Maybe, you are thinking of wet seat, but I don't see it. They want the money for the locker.

The Shoes and shirts thing is more of a safety reason. They don't want you to get hurt. Also, requireing Shoes and Shirts makes it more of a family atmosphere and not a Teen Hangout.

There is only one complaint i have about this policy and that is the Profanity T-Shirt rule about not being able to turn it inside out. I've been outta high school for two years now so i no longer pay attention on whether my shirt is appropriate or not and if i get to the park and realize i'm wearing a shirt that may be offensive, i should be at least given the option to flip it around. Just my thinking though, the thinking of a person who occasionally is a culprit for some of these bad things and doesn't really realize it and who is afraid of being kicked out.

However, every single one of these policies is a good idea, because it really does get out of hand after a while.

well, obviously for you tony, the bikini thing wasn't a good example..... , but think about this... would you like to see some old guy walking around the park in a speedo?

with the swearing, five year olds don't need to hear something swearing every other word. It might not work, but there's always that possibility. I know this isn't our park, but when i went to Holiday World, I liked the not swearing and stuff....it made the park a bit more family-like.

It really does get annoying when your standing in a line and the guy/girl in front of you in cussin like a sailor.

^Oh, no, i completely agree!! I think these are great ideas and should be enforced, especially the bathing suit rule which has been walked all over since they built the water park, i'm just hoping they recognize the difference between someone who made a mistake and those who are the REAL problem.

The reason behind the not turning the shirt inside out is that they don't want the shirt in the park. If you turned it in inside out you can easily turn it back once you leave the front area.
