Hmm, could an updated version of a master blaster be the new water ride? But either way, it's still great that SFKK is actually getting a new addition.
To me, it just looks like this waterpark needs another slide complex if they are going that route. They have four waterslides, a Tornado, wavepool, already have a kids playground (I don't get why they need another one), a Treehouse (Whatever this is??) and a Lazy River. However, I probably wouldn't. I would spend the money on the other side (not the waterpark). They just added the Tornado remember by taking out another flat (Upside ride similar to a Top Spin or King Chaos).
They just took a flat out last year, or so and need that replaced. How can you make a huge ride turn into a non-smoking section? This is Chaos by the way. They need at least that replaced. I believe the area they are thinking about is where those Drag Racers used to be. I thought it was roped off or something. I thought someone said that.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
^Well, to answer your question, the Treehouse is their Skull Island, however, their's is a little more like a treehouse than a playground. And i do agree with you that they need to worry about the amusement park first, however, an addition to the waterpark that is unique to the Six Flags Company would be a better strategy to get people to travel there than just another ride would. So maybe they want to gain visitors, before they move on with expanding the actual park.
RIP: Trailblazer and Deja Vu...heck, even Alien Encounter
SF shouldnt waste any money at all on this property!!!!!!
The park is a dump and should be dumped as soon as SF can get out of the managment contract as I believe the park doesnt own the land the park is built on.
Any money spent is the same as throwing it down a hole under the current managemnt system. The only hope would be fire everyone at the park and bring in all new employee's!!!
This is the worst staff of any SF park ive been too, and my past visit this August was awful!!!
I have talked with the GM of this Park, Jay Thomas as have a few other people on this board, and he realizes the problems that have happened at SFKK, but to go out and say fire everyone and fire this person and that is very unfounded.
You dont explain for one thing why your visit was awful, and you just rant and rant endlessly, I for one think that Mr. Thomas has done as good a job as anyone at that park and I personally think that SFKK is definately headed in the right direction.
Especially with the competition as it is in that region, you have several different parks with in a days drive of Louisville (West SFSTL, East HW, PKI, South Beech Bend, Dollywood, North CP etc) this addition will definately be a big draw in that area.
I visited this park twice this year...Both times impressed with the effort put forth in every aspect besides the freidnlieness of the staff. Swearing on the microphones, talking back staff, and staff on cell phones while the rides are in operation; are all incindents that have occured during my visits there.
Everything about my visit was negative!!!!!!!!!!!!!
None of the coasters ran more than one train!!!
The employee's had no interaction with the guests at all, they seemed to be upset that we were bothering them by having them run the rides they were working on. They worked very slow and spent more time talking to each other than actually operating the ride. I also saw ride-ops on cell phones and walking across the tracks while the coaster was on the track which i have not seen at SFGAM.
When i went to get ice water at the food outlets several employee's refused to give any water and just said you should go to the next stand and walked away. Except for one older female employee who was very friendly the rest were awful.
Having been to Dollywood a couple of days before you could see the contrast between a well run park with great employee's and a crappy park with employee's who couldnt care less and no sign that managemet cared about the situation at all.
This was the worst visit i have had at any theme park ever, and with other visits there being medicore at best. And the park closed 1 hr earlier than what was statedon the web site
And it was funny because i visited Holiday World the next day and spoke to about 10 people in line who said they live near SFKK but dont go there because the park is awful and i can easily see why.
So i would get rid of the entire mangement and start from scratch with employee's who care and do there job in a professional manner, that is far more important than a slightly bigger water park and adding upcharge cabana's!!!
The only good thing about the visit was i didnt pay extra to get in and spent very little at the park(just one soda) as they werent deserving of any of my families money!!!
^ Im sorry, but i just dont beleive you, I have been to SFKK more then enough times to formulate and opinion about the place, and I know that your discription is not 100% accurate.
(As a side note, theres really no reason to add 50 exclamation points to every sentence in your posts)
My description is 100% accurate and i could careless if you chose to believe it or not.
And when you visit a awful park like SFKK between Dollywood and Holiday World you can see why some parks are successful and while some are dreadul.
Shapiro should visit the park before he wastes any more money on it as a bigger waterpark wont answer the problems this park has!
I didnt mind the SFKK operations, I thought they are actually very under-rated and have a bad reputation that everyone believes that they do really bad. Why do they need to run more than 1 train on a coaster if there isnt a line? I never heard any of the ops swear in the mics, they checked the harnesses fairly quick and got trains cycling faster than some of the rides here.
Universal Orlando Mechanical Engineer Marathon down, Goofy to go.
One train operation is not good when the waits for the ride is 15/20 minutes, and longer due to ride-ops who cared much more about socializing than dispatching rides in a timely manner.
When I was there this year, they opened everything with one train, but once the line got about 10/15 minutes long, they added the second train to all the possible rides that can have 2 trains.

i didnt think the operations were really all that bad. There was the instance where there was an operator not displaying their name tag/cert badge but i don't think it was too bad.
