Mt Olympus, Timber Falls, and Wonder spot TR

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby themanoftheland8 on August 20th, 2006, 10:41 pm
We got to Timber Falls at about 10:15. This being my first trip to either of these places, I had no idea of what to expect. However, this trip was definately worth it. After we bought our wristbands for $7.50, me and hoffmanmyster headed over to see if Avalanche was worth it. When we got up there, we were the only 2, so we got on the front. The ride-op then started the spiel. During that, I noticed it said that Avalanche was the fastest roller coaster in Wisconsin. Does anyone know if this is true? Anyways, we got on and is was a great ride. Felt like a lot of "floater" air up front, but the turns seemed to hurt a little depending on the side you were sitting on. When we got back, the op asked if we wanted to go again, and we said sure. He just sent us right off without checking the restraints or anything.

We then headed off to play a game of mini golf on the black course. We got back on Avalanche, and rode 18 more times (we got off once due to a "line".) By now it was a little after noon, and we decided we should probably get to Mt. Olympus. We were REALLY pumped about getting to ride Hades. We bought our $25 wristbands, and headed in.

As we walked down the hill after the entrance, the first thing we saw was a line. So, we got in line. After about 5 minutes of speculating, we used our elite skills to decipher that the coaster we were in line for was Zeus. It was about 15 minutes until we got to the station. The first thing we noticed was that the reports about the employees was correct. Both of the ops were foreign. Also, they jumped across the track every time in order to sit down on the other side. The employees were even wearing a sweatshirt with sweatpants that had a tiny little Mt. Olympus logo in the corner (I wouldn't have been able to tell they were ops if they didn't have name tags.) Personally, I thought this just made SFGAm's employees look even better than the already excellent workers they already are.

So we got on Zeus, back row, hoping for a ride with lots of intense woodie air. However, we got the opposite. While on the coaster, we noticed weeds growing through the track  . Also, I found out that American Eagle's helix is not so rough.

Next was Cyclops. When we saw this from the entrance, we thought it looked pretty slow. However, after waiting for about 15 minutes, it was a decent ride. Better than I thought it would be, and the turns didn't pierce into my side, which was refreshing.

Anyways, next was Pegasus after some chips with cheese. (some people like to call em nachos, but the cheese was cold :? ) The line was only about 10 minutes, and like Cyclops, this one looked pretty boring. Unlike Cyclops, it actually felt pretty slow. As we were riding, I was thinking, "at least it doesn't hurt too much." That last turn into the station was a killer though. Geez, they should bank that or something. Otherwise, Ehh, it was a pretty mediocre ride.

We headed farther back into the park, and came to the new parthenon. Before that, though, we saw Disk-O. This ride looked really cool. It was basically like Revolution, except there is a track beneath you and you are facing outward in motorcycle style seats. It was a one-of-a-kind ride, and I enjoyed it. Then we walked in to Opa. (Ow :) ) The line was about a 30 minute wait, but there was entertainment while there. They had this "Dancing Heads" thing, where people would sit in front of a camera, and their heads would be put on animated dancing people on the screen. Anyways, after the time flew, we crawled into the seats, which were different than Rajun Cajun's. The seats were kind of like King Chaos's, and the restraints were like Rajun Cajun's, but separated into 4. Yeah, it hurt.

Next, we headed to the long awaited Little Titans. This ride was so amazing, they let us go through TWICE!!! We could not believe it!!! Spacelys has nothing on Little Titans. Wow, just wow. (sarcasm)

Well, after that, we went to the actual long awaited Hades. Little did we know that it was a good 45 minute wait, and we only had 20 minutes until we had to meet our parents out at the car. So, after about 15 minutes of waiting in line, we left the line, looked like chickens, and left the park to go eat some delicious lunch at Culvers.

On our way back to Mt. Olympus, after chowing down on 8 chicken tenders, some fries, and a delicious chocolate banana shake, we stopped at the Wonder Spot. This was very different. Basically, it's this cabin on a hill, where everything is, well, on a hill. They do a bunch of weird tricks and stunts, such as balancing a chair on 2 legs and rolling a golfball up-hill. All of this was "supposedly" because of some kind of unique rock that was in the hill next to it. We then went back to Mt. Olympus to finish our day.

The first ride we did when we got back was Hades. It was about a 45 minute wait still, but by now it was 5:00 or so. When we finally got on second row, we were pumped. It was really neat how it dropped directly out of the station and into some turns and stuff before getting to the lift. Anyways, we got to the top of the lift, and sunk into the tunnel. This really surprised me. I seriously did not know it was going to be pitch black. Amazing. We came out and went back in the dark tunnel, and went around a few more amazing turns, and finished up. I was ecstatic. It was insanely amazing.

Anyways, we were getting hot, so we decided we should get on the last "coaster" there, Dive to Atlantis. After waiting 30 minutes, we got in the boat. And stayed in the boat, and stayed in the boat, and stayed in the boat. About 2 kazillion minutes later, we actually got to stop floating through preAtlantis and started to clime the lift hill. The little drop was entertaining, (and shoe soaking... I was in the front). Then the big drop and it was over. Probably the coaster with the slowest average speed ever. And even worse, now we were wet. Oh well.

We continued to do a few go-karts, which included Triton, The Trojan Horse, and a couple more. All of these seemed pretty slow, but they were fun none-the-less.

While walking back to try and get our last ride of the night on Hades, we took a quick stop on Pegasus, which was a one train wait. Hoping that Hades shortened up, we walked over there, only to find that it was not much shorter. It was still about a 40 minute wait, and we got in line at 9:20 or so. Then, our dreams came true. We got kicked out because we werent in the station in time.

Psych! No, actually, we got to the station, and waited for the front. This ride was amazinger than the first time. It was INSANELY INSANE!!!!!! I loved it, as you can tell. The cool brisk air rushing against your face. Wow. It just felt so...... right. The tunnel was even better this time, and the track is hardly lit up at all, which made it sweet.

Well, that was my day. Thanks for reading!

I guess I never did post the date. I was there on Saturday. Yes, it seemed very busy compared to the other trip reports I had read.

I agree with RCT2...all the coasters at MtO totally kick ass other than Pegasus. Next time you go you should try Cyclops in the back row.

And how was the wristband at Timberfalls only 7.50? It was 15 when I was there!

Anyways I'm glad you had fun, and sorry about the long waits.

W were kind of scared to try Cyclops in the back, due to the fact that there was a sign there that said, "You must be 18 to ride in the back car. It's Wisconsin's law."
Also, the wristband at Timberfalls was actually $15, but we had a buy one get one free coupon from my handy dandy Entertainment Book.

Were you in line for Hades at the end of the night?

Cyclops back row is much better than any other row on that ride. Also, Avalanche still has its thing going for it, it did a little rough from last year, but still simply an amazing ride. I just went there last week, and Mt. Olympus was crowded, but Hades didnt open on time, but it did open for us to get 3 rides on it. Opa was horrible in my opinion. Lastly, I rode Avalanche a lot, almost twice as much as I did last year. I had 102 rides on it, and they were all great. :D

And did one of your friends fall off the railing in line for Hades? Because not only was that funny, but I think he was the only person that day to do it, so if you were there, then we were there too, and we saw you...
