Holiday World 8/3-8/4 (My first photo TR)

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby rct2wizard360 on August 7th, 2006, 12:54 pm
Photo TR!!!

I'm new at this so give me a break.
So we woke up at around 7:00 A.M. and headed out on the most INTERESTING stretch of roadway ever built.

Image

So we decided to pull off for some food at around 11 A.M.

Image

I have never seen one of these before. I was so amused.
Time for more highway!
But my mom wanted to stop at this place called "Rockhome Gardens." To you know, re-live her childhood and what not.
And the place was pretty...dead?
But they had these crosses...

Image

Image

So it could only mean...

Image

OZZFEST 2007!!!!
But it got more interesting.
You see, they had a hen in a cage and apparently it was "educated."

Image

So what it did, is, you put in the quarter and then a light went off.
The hen would peck at the red string and a toy would come down.
The hen would peck at the toy until it fell of that ramp into a box where you got it. Its reward was food.

If you thought that was awesome?
I played Tic-Tac-Toe with a freekin hen!

Image

And lost....
You may all laugh now.
And then I saw what I thought was Deja Vu's queue...

Image

Then we left.
And stopped for gas this time.

Image

Cheap as all hell.
After around four more hours of driving, we pulled off the highway.
To Dale.

Image

As you can see, Dale was awesome.
But wait...

Image

A SIGN!!!!!
So here we are!

Image

But we had to find our hotel first.
It wasn't that easy since we turned the wrong way.
But because of our mistakes, I saw me a Voyage!!!

Image

So I got into the park for a few hours.
But well, I only have pictures from the first FULL day.
So yeah here we go.
We got to the font gates at around 8:30. I had my season pass already so it was all good. And we got to the entrance to Thanksgiving only to be roped off. At this point I decided to join in the run. So I ran...

...made a wrong turn...

...and still was 2nd in line!
Go track!

Then we had to wait 52 minutes for Voyage to open.
This thing has insane downtime for a wooden rollercoaster.
But it opened. And here she is!

Image

Image

Image

Image
Yeah Captains Quarters!

And it was the best woodie I have ever been on.

Image

Except for Two train op...
But apparently the third train was hit by something.

Image

This ride had THE BEST queue ever. Can't rate it against my steels, those don't have the airtime.
I rated it 10/10. In my opinion, front has the better airtime on this by a Mile.
Back has ejector, front has floater and you can feel the G’s.
Next I decided to hit up...

Image

Image

Image

Image

It was around a 30 minute wait. But while in the queue we got to watch the divers practice!

Image

Sure enough, this ride was amazing. Amazing airtime in the back, loved it.
The few drops it has pack a punch and this shows that size doesn’t matter.
9/10.

So next of course I ran over to...

Image

Image

Image

But to my disappointment...

Image

She was closed. And it was for about the next 5 hours.
By the time I got over there later at night it was packed.
And that queue is hot as all hell.
But when I rode it the night before...9/10.
Great layout down the hill, amazing.
In between all of this I was at one of these every 10 minutes...

Image

And ate all of this for only $4.00!!!

Image

Holiday World sure can price things right!
After the coasters we decided to ride...

Image

With insane A/C action!!!

Image

And this wise lady told us how to use a Turkey Caller...

Image

Unfortunately I could get any pictures in the ride itself.
But well...they were really trying to think of a shooting Dark Ride that didn't involve killing turkeys. Heh. Turkey Callers. I can’t get over that.
After all of that drama, we decided to cool down.

Image

Image

Image

The water park was very nice. The Lazy Rivers had a good current to them.
8/10 for the water park.
So after a few more rides on everything it was sadly time to go.
And back on the most interesting stretch of road…ever.

Totals:
Voyage- 21
Raven- 7
Legend- 2

General Comments about the Park:

-Great Atmosphere very clean.
-Ops were able to send trains very quickly, stacking rarely happened.
-Voyage has THE BEST queue and station I have ever seen in my entire life.
-Voyage also has a lot of downtime. Friday it was closed the last hour and a half the park was open.
-Holiday World is as big of a pain to walk around as SFStl is.
-Santa Claus needs cell tower, PRONTO.
-Santa Claus also needs a McDonalds.
-The is hella crowded on weekends.
-Souvenirs are cheap.
-Legends’ queue is hot as all hell.
-Great park in my opinion.

Holiday World gets 10 out of 10.

Too bad about you losing to that chicken well at least you got your revenge and ate it for 4bucks just kiding. Do they have any metal coaster at HW it look like they really need one. Great TR you did a really excelent job the best one I've seen about HW.

Great job on the TR. You took some nice pics! The hen stuff was hilarious, too. Anyway, sounds like you had a great time.

Boy, your pics sure turned out better than mine! I didn't even bother to post them, they sucked so bad. Anyways, sounds like you had a lot of rides on everything and i'm suprised to hear the Voyage had the worst downtimes, cause when i was there the Legend was only open for like five hours on a one train run. Oh well, glad you had a good time though!
