Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Does anyone know why and when the Lobster's name was changed to East River Crawler? Does it have anything to do with Batman or something?

I have no idea, but it is on the East side of the park now and located near that little creek or river, whatever you want to call it.

Name was changed in 1992 to coincide with Batman and the vague Gotham City Theme, also cars were changed from orange to purple and the lobster on the head changed colors as well.

Gotham City is modeled after New York City, and NYC has an East River, so there ya go.

As far as I can remember, the East River Crawler (Lobster) has always been at that site since it was installed.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

I don't remember it being called anything else either. I remember the colors were different at one point but not the name.

The ride's always been there, and it looks like it had a cooler paint job.

That whole area of the park used to be a lot nicer. The little park in the middle of Yankee Harbor had the historical colonial flags of the United States in it.
Back to Crawler, when it was The Lobster, it had a giant lobster painted on the cement ride platform. Cool stuff.
