So, tomorrow, Saturday, July 15th, 2006 I will be visiting Great America. I have a few questions that I hope someone can answer.
After reading the forecast I can safely assume the park will be packed. (85-90F and sunny) Normally I would find another day to visit but unfortunately this year the date is locked into place. This being because, my employer is having its annual get together on this day and my family and I get in for just the cost of parking. (A great deal as all of you are aware).
Also, due to the weather we've decided to skip the waterpark and save it for another visit when it will not be as full.
That being said, here are my questions.
What time do the parking lot gates open now? I remember reading a news article that they would be opening at 8:15am this year to prevent traffic problems of the past. Will this be the case tomorrow? If so, what time do you suggest we be there? I was thinking between 7:30 and 8:00 but should we arrive sooner to avoid traffic already lining up at 7:30? My goal is to be one of the first 10 or so cars in each line at the parking gate when it opens.
Next, can someone confirm the parking price is $15?
And finally, how much are Flashpasses and how many times can you use it? I've avoided them in the past (under their old name of course) because I simply do not agree with the concept of them. This year however taking into account how busy I expect it to be and we are going for next to nothing I am going to be a hypocrite and purchase some. You all can flame me later, I fully admit to being a hypocrite.
Thanks in advance. And thanks for the site, it's proven much more helpful then the official Great America website.
I don't see why you would get so early to the park. If it said 8:15, it must be. Yes, parking is $15.00. Saturday's are the most packed day, and it doesn't even matter if it was 70 degrees out. The park would still be really packed. Hurricane Harbor does help though. So, it won't be overbearing, but still packed. Iron Wolf and Space Shuttle America are probably the only short lines you will see! Okay, there are some flats that are pretty short too.
I believe the flash passes are $15, and you get four rides on them. You can do Roaring Rapids, Superman Ultimate Flight, Batman The Ride, Raging Bull, Viper, Vertical Velocity, Iron Wolf, and Whizzer. The rides that I would definitely do are Superman, Raging Bull, and Roaring Rapids. I guess it depends on the time you want to go Roaring Rapids.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
I was there last Saturday and was thinking the same thing about how busy it was going to be mostly because it was a very nice day and Teddy Gieger was performing there. We got there alittle before 10 and got on Deja Vu, Demon, AE, and IW all in an hour and a half. The park never got that busy with the line for RB being less than 30 mins everytime. We had to get flashpasses for Superman which we rode twice in front which is definitly worth waiting for if you use the flashpass.
Parking Gates have opened before 8:30 on weekends.
