KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Clay County authorities are investigating after a 6-year-old girl said a stranger tried to kidnap her Tuesday night at Worlds of Fun.
The girl told police she was waiting with a friend while her mother and stepfather rode a roller coaster. The girl said a man approached and told her that he wanted to show her something, and he led her away from her friend.
The girl said the man picked her up and said he was taking her to his car to watch fireworks, but the girl became scared and was able to escape and return to her friend.

2010 is going to be one to remember forever!!
That's not an idiot; that's a criminal. It is very fortunate that this situation was halted before something tragic happened. As the police always say, never let anyone remove you from the area. If someone is simply going to rob you or something, they'll do it right there. People who remove you from the area do so because they plan on doing something worse. It goes to show you; theme parks are great places for kids to have fun, but they can also be dangerous. Creeps can lurk about waiting to run off with somebody at any time. Kudos to the girl, the staff and anyone else that stopped something truly terrible from happening here.
I'm gonna twist ya, and I'm gonna flip ya. Every time you squeal, I'm just gonna go faster and harder.
