My sister and I just returned from the park. We were debating whether or not to go to the park today (cancelled JoyFest concert and gloomy weather). In fact, while the forecast called for rain, it didn't rain during our stay at the park.
We arrived at the park at around 9:30 am. Guests were being let into the park, and the Six Flags Party started at about 9:40 am. The chains near Columbia Carousel dropped at about 9:45 am, and we walked to Deja Vu. We were one of the first in line, but were told the ride would not open on time.
So, it still being before opening, we walked to Raging Bull, and got the second dispatch on Row 9. We would have gone for another quick ride, but saw Deja Vu was testing while on Bull. While making our way to Deja Vu, we noticed that it was not yet ready to open. After a lap on Demon, we waited in-line for Deja Vu to open, which was at about 10:20. We were about 10th or 15th in line, but still managed to get to 1A for the first dispatch of the day.
With short lines, we went around for another ride, this time in 8B for the third dispatch. Then, I hit two more solo runs for dispatches number five and seven. After four rides on Deja Vu, we made our way to Flash Pass processing to use up our coupons for fress passes.
We took two quick laps on the Whizzer, and made our way to the front of the park. After Whizzer, we got on Space Shuttle America and Sky Trek Tower. Although Hurricane Harbor was open, the water park was near empty. We saw maybe five people in-line for Tornado and seven or so in the Wave Pool. Hurricane Harbor did close at 4:00 pm due to "unfavorable weather conditions."
Next up were Rue Le Dodge and Superman: Ultimate Flight. Nearing noon, we have yet to use up any of our Flash Passes. Up until now, Superman was the longest wait at about 10 minutes for Row 8.
We had planned to check out Marvin the Martian 3-D at noon, so we made our way to the Pictorium. The show was decent, and it seemed to be a crowd-favorite.
After Marvin, we headed to Burger King for lunch. We took our time, knowing we still had unused Flash Passes and crowds were minimal.
After lunch, we headed for another round of bumper-car action on Rue Le Dodge. Then, I took on two solo runs on King Chaos. Afterwards, I took a ride on East River Crawler. I had asked my sister to check out the line for Vertical Velocity, and Batman was temporarily out of operation. ERC seemed like a 10-minute wait, in which the ride-op had checked the lap bars, then accidently released all the lapbars. He didn't bother to re-check the lapbars, and simply motioned everybody to check the restraints themselves and ran the ride.
Next, we were on a quest to find the first ride that would require a Flash Pass. It was not Vertical Velocity, as it was about a 2-cycle wait at about 3 pm. We went near the back for the first ride, then I took a solo ride in Row 2.
We then headed to Iron Wolf and American Eagle. Both sides of Eagle were running, but Red was running a single train. Still, the wait-time was about a 2-cycle wait.
I then wanted to check out Deja Vu's line, which I estimated at about 30-minutes. We skipped that, then headed for a run on Demon. After Demon, we headed to Giant Drop. On our way, we saw that while Animal Encounters was scheduled to begin on June 12th, there were three shows scheduled for today.
On one of our rides on Giant Drop, a female ride-op asked a group if they knew Acers named Joe and Alex. She went on to explain that the two held the record for most consecutive rides. It seemed the previously mentioned group had got in numerous rides on Giant Drop, but they were not consecutive.
Raging Bull was temporarily out of operation when we just entered the line, so we headed for more rides on Giant Drop. Giant Drop was never more than a 1-cycle wait. Raging Bull was back in operation, so we headed for another Row 9 ride. Raging Bull was running only two trains, but the wait was still minimal.
By this time, it was about 5 pm and we still had not used up any of our Flash Passes. So, I decided to head to Guest Relations to check if I could get vouchers to use Flash Pass next weekend, or a different day. I explained to Guest Relations that we had not used up our Flash Passes, which were not even needed for any of the rides. I had asked for a voucher or a coupon, but the attendant had proceeded to actually refund the passes for $30.00.
We then headed for the Scenic Railway at HomeTown Station. The Scenic Railway, and most shows today, had interpreters on-board for Deaf/Hard of Hearing Day. Just as an observation, this group seemed to make up for most of the crowd this afternoon.
We were planning to check-out the Animal Encounters show, but we ditched that idea and saved it for another day. We decided to head for a few more rounds on Giant Drop and Raging Bull.
To close out our day, we wanted to get in a few laps on Viper. Viper, for the most part, was a walk-on. We managed to get in a couple re-rides on Viper.
At 6:30 pm, we called it a day. Overall, the crowds were quite light. I have experienced longer lines in mid-May than on a Saturday in June. The rain held out, which was a nice added touch to the day. Overall, it was one of the better days at the park this season.
