What's with the delay? This coaster looked great, but it was supposed to open in the spring, and I guess it could open anyday now, but who knows. I hope this isn't another DejaVu, though I don't think it is.
Well if you mean another Deja Vu, as in they started it too late to ever be finished on time. You would be correct. But Six Flags has done that alot in the past, so this shouldn't surprise anyone. I highly doubt it will have the extra problems Deja Vu had to keep it from opening until October.
I think the current plan for El Toro is to have it open by June 10th, but who knows that could change.
It does seem like it's taking a long time, considering that it's just a wooden coaster. Not anything new or record breaking or complicated, despite the lift which seems different than what i'm used to.
RIP: Trailblazer and Deja Vu...heck, even Alien Encounter
It strikes me as being ironic that a "technologically advanced" prefabricated wooden roller coaster (El Toro) takes much longer to build than a good old-fashioned woodie (Voyage or Kentucky Rumbler).
I guess that's Intamin for you.

I think it has more to do with the Six Flags, then it does Intamin.
Here's what Shapiro had to say about why El Toro isn't finished in a recent interview:
"According to Mark, the delay resulted from placing a new coaster order three months too late. Mark points to Disney (NYSE: DIS), his former employer, which approaches theme-park planning five years in advance. The old regime at Six Flags was simply winging it from season to season."
And that explains, why not just El Toro...but many coasters in the past at Six Flags parks have missed thier opening dates.
Someone pasted an artical somewere on here, and in that artical it stated that They placed the ORDER for the ride 3 Months later then would have been required for it to be finished, tested and opened.

I've heard it's SOO incredibly smooth that you can barely feel the track, I don't know...I'm going on the Voyage tomorrow (chillin w/ Eaglefan down in Indiana) so I'll be able to say how that is.
