Disability Passes

First of all, I posted this in my TR from May 27th, but I am wondering everyone else's opinion. If I am correct, Six Flags is unable to deny a disability pass to anyone. However, I feel this has gone too far. Throughout the visits, at least 75% of the people I see using these are walking fine, which in my opinion, means they are perfectly able to wait in line like the majority of the people. When someone walks up with, say, a cane for instance, I totally understand and I am more than happy to wait a ride or two for them. I am just trying to develop a way they might be able to fix this, knowing that they are unable to ask for information regarding the disability. Any ideas?

I go up the exits because I have an inflamed tendon in my ankle. I have a black boot on my foot that my doctor gave me, I can't stand a long period of time without my foot giving out on me, so don't get all upset. I can see where you're going with this, last year during fright fest I saw 14 girls with the same exact bandage on their arms and they got a pass to go up the exits, excuse me isn't it for people who can't wait in line? That ticked me off. but I do see what you are saying.

Yes, if you actually need the pass, I have absolutely no problem with it whatsoever. Also, just an idea, maybe they could give out wristbands for the ones with passes? My guess is that would be put down because it would be "discriminating" against those with disabilities.

Yeah I know but I see what you're saying. There are people who are fakes, that just want to get up the exits and not wait in line. I have seen those types of people before.

I see this happen in Disney a lot. People rent wheel chairs that are fine and get through the exit. It really makes me mad.

People stare at me all the time when they see me going up the exit. I'm sorry it's not my fault that I have to go up the exit, I have to go because of my foot. so don't stare at me, deal with it.

i get annoyed with the fakers too. i think there are some stupid reasons that you should get a disability pass too. for instance, no offense to a friend of mine, but he got one because he has diabetes. I don't think that's a good reason to get one. I think they should only be given out to ones that have disabilities that you can see when you go to get one. It may sound dumb to some of you, but i don't think it's fair for someone who is perfectly fine just walking in to the guest relations place to get a pass.

Like I said 14 girls from cheerleading supposidly "hurt" their wrists got a pass, you could so tell they were faking. Besides they never should have gotten a pass

And people glare at me when I go up the exit, sorry I have a reason to be up there. If you want I can prove that I have a problem if people are going to glare at me like that, I can get a friken x ray in order to prove that i have something wrong. it bugs me when people do that.

There are a few other topics around about exit passes and the abuse it causes.

Personally, I think that they should use a modified q-bot system for handicap people that only allows them to reserve one ride at a time. If they end up waiting as long as normal people, it qualifies as "equal access", and it discourages fakers since they wouldn't get on any quicker.

People with diabetes get low blood sugar and pass out. They go into insulin shock. People with diabetes get problems with their joints and limbs.

That's not fair. You have no idea who is faking and who isn't. What if you're getting angry at a person and are wrong? You just never know, eh?

When I see people on crutches, in wheelchairs, limping, etc. I'm annoyed that I have to wait another cycle, but I know that it's the parks policy and it's not a big deal.

Then again, when I see 4 girls RUN to the Viper train screaming "omg omg omg" I get a little angry.

Hurting their wrists, does not sound like a disability that prvents you from waiting in line, if you have a bad wrist then you shouldn't be on a coaster.

So if i get a headache i can get a exit pass but go on a coaster.

I understand what you mean about being angry at people who fake problems. However, some people may have a problem with waiting in line for a medical reason that you may not be able to see. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean that they are automatically faking it. I have really bad scoliosis and it causes major back pain when i stand to long. I also can't get a back brace because I have a type of scoliosis where my spine is inverted instead of curvy. When i wear a brace it is hard for me to breathe becuase of the weird curve which causes even more problems with my asthma. So my point is you can't see I have a problem because, for me, wearing something that may help some, hurts me more and the only thing I have to do is sit down a lot and long lines with no place to sit causes me major pain. Therefore an exit pass is the only option, either that or not doing something I love to do.

I have also seen alot of abuses with the disability passes at this park and other's i have visited, and have often heard people joke about how they have "scammed the system" or make copies of the passes and even though not great copies they dont get questioned about it.
I know that DL awhile back revamped there disability pass system and got a lot of flack due to rampant abuse and if i recall correctly they made the guests bring in doctor slips to show why they cant wait in the regular line which i would be in favor of.
Truely disabled people deserve consideration/exit pass's when it comes to waiting in line, but not privileged treatment over the rest of the guests at the park.

Doctor's notes or some sort of proof should be required to get a pass. It makes sense. But then...anyone could make a doctor's note if you know how to use a computer. No system is perfect, so until they figure out a surefire way to keep the fakers out, we're stuck having to deal with them.

^ All you need is a computer, but that also would require some sort of effort, which a lot of people shy away from these days. Just adding a requirement like a doctors note would deter many fakers from abusing the system.

Riding a roller coaster actually will do nothing to my scoliosis since sitting down against a back rest is better for me than standing. It will also not further the curvature of my spine and I can not give up roller coasters for that. I love it too much.

I just read yuor trip report on the disability passes and I noticed you mentioned Director_guy as one of those people just so you all know he was with me and that is why.
