Americain Eagle vs. Viper

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby SfGaMownz on July 13th, 2003, 2:26 pm
I'm pretty sure this hasn't been discussed I used the search feature and found no topic like it . Anyways, which woodie do you think is the best at the park. I think Viper ownz Americain Eagle, because of its air time and curved drop, and the whole cyclone style it follows.

I agree viper is the better ride in my opinion. I like both of them of cource but ive always found eagle to be to tame after the first drop. Vipers my second favorite ride at the park after raging bull its one of the best wooden coasters in the world!!!

in my opinion Viper kicks American Eagles a$$! But, Eagles drop both frontwards and backwards is way better thatn Vipers.

American Eagle is a pretty great ride in my opinion. I like the first drop the best. Backwards is a lot better than forwards, it has a different and better experience and it is more intense. The bunny hills are fun and the helixes are pretty cool. Each time I ride it the excitement stays the same, it doesn't get better or worse.I used to not care about Viper at all, until my 4th ride on it, first time in the back. After that ride, I realized I was really missing out. I ride it every time I go to the park now, and it gets better and better every time I ride it. The airtime is insane and it is just so intense. The last couple of times I went on it, it seemed faster.Overall, in my opinion, Viper is a lot better than AE. It's even starting to reach my top 5 now.

I would have tio say that Viper is my favorite of the two, Yet the past three times I've ridden it, it felt like something was missing. I always ride in the last car, and in past years I have gotten extreme airtime. But this year I havn't. Oh well, I'll have to try the famed 1:3 :D And this year, I felt that American Eagle has been running better than I've ever seen it, but maybe thats just me
Finally Coaster Season!!

The drop on eagle is amazing and I appreciate it for the backwards train. Imagine if Viper ran a train backwards. Would our minds be changed?

I wouldn't like to see Viper run backwards... I like going forward because some of the hand-chopper effects!

I agree with you on that, Corey. Those hand choppers are really sweet, makes the ride better...

I like Viper better because of the hand choppers and the extreme amount of airtime you get. When I went on Sunday, they weren't trimming the blue train at the top of the helix which made the races really close. AE is great when you can see the other train the entire time.
My Top 5: 1)TTD, 2)Millennium Force, 3)Raptor, 4)Deja Vu, 5)Raging Bull

Yeah, those hand choppers really make the ride amazing. Plus you get some killer airtime on Viper. I think I will have to go with Viper on this one.

I like Viper better than AE. The airtime on it is amazing. Viper is tied for first with RB on my list. As mentioned before nothing on Viper beats AEs first drop. I think AE would be better if the lap bars didnt come down so low and obviously if they got rid of the trims or just turned them down a lot.

American Eagle is great, but Viper is just wow!!! It's full of air and the drop is great. Viper is really under rated and it almost always has a short line. People don't know what they're missing.

TRUE, because last year was the first time I tryed Viper, and it was great. At first I didn't think it would be any good, but my cousin dragged me on it. I loved it, and a lot of people don't think it will be good for some reason. (maybe because it a woodie) I encourage everyone who is scepticle of it, to ride it !

They dont think it will be bad because its a woodie. They think it will be bad because of its height. But remember the good old saying dont judge a book by its cover.

I would have to say Viper for this one. It's pace through out the ride is just awesome. Not one trim through out the whole ride. Incredible airtime, good laterals, and awesome speed. American Eagle still rocks though. I love them both.

American Eagle.....old woodies are always more fun than newer smoother ones, and Eagle was a completely original design, the design for Viper was a clone of Cyclone. you gotta love the rough jerky ride of the eagle too.

I like Viper more and this is after I rode the Eagle backwards yesterday. I supposed if they were to take to trims off of the Eagle I might change my mind, but I doubt it.
