Beaten up arcades

A Off-Topic forum to discuss things that aren't related to the Amusement Park Industry.

This is totaly off topic, but I hate how arcade players are treated at sometheme parks. They seriosly have to fix the machines, because when i want to play Dance Dance Revolution, ita almost always broken, even if there are 5 machines. I mean if you just dont care about the machine, give it away! Arcade players are also shoved around for no reason, were just there at the wrong place at the wrong time I guess! So where are the people that watch over the arcades half the time. I see people sometimes purposly break a machine for fun. Thats a waste of money, and not to mention a waste of ours sometimes.

If they hired Game Techs at SFGAm I'd do it.

Most of those "Arcade Supervisors" don't even know how to remove and replace a sensor.

-Eagles machine stayed in excellent condition the whole year.
-The Max 2 in the back of the arcade by eagle, 1st player pad is blown out. The whole wiring of the sensors is.
-The Max 2 in the front of that aracde is still up to par. They could really clean those out though.
-The Extreme by BTR is going to need new sensors soon. It's beginning to go out.
-The Max 2 by S:UF should just be shot and killed. Like blown up. They don't even have those pads held down.
-They could really fix up the Pump machine in SWT. Premire 3 is a good freekin mix!

So basically, when you do play, just play on Eagle's machine.

Oh yeah, Dan? When you read this...all those Pop 4 scores will be mine.

I wouldn't mind SFGAm getting an ITG2 Dedicab.
Though it would die so easily.

They should really get new moniters too. 2 Of The Machines are faded. 2 machines need new pads, and need to be fixed a at least a bit. and 1 machine should be moved out of the sun, it will fade the screen as well. The american eagle machine also had the most problems when the sun is hitting it. You can really get a crowd easily though.
All machines also deserve a nice upgrade to DDR SuperNOVA when its released. They should also upgrade at least 2 to ITG as well. They would make alot more money.

They got new machines from 2004 to 2005, but some of the new ones were used from other places. So, hopefully, the get brand new ones sent there and a SuperNova machine.

BTW, Joe, you can have those records, I am not into DDR as I was last year, I havent improved any, I probably got worse.

I think you have to be 18 though. I know "maintenance" in general is 18, so I'm assuming game maintenance would fall under that.

Thanks for the info RagingBullFan.

I have time too, I'm already going to apply at my local arcade.
I'll get the ropes.

DDR machines probably take 100 times more of a beating than any other arcade game.

oh yeah, I know. I have metal arcade pads. my aroows have cracks in them! They used to break every month, but now they are just fine with no problems.
Back to the arcade thing.

Please if you know how to fix them, and live close to six flags. Fix the pads. I want to call them and tell them, and I already sent a letter, and they never sent one back! They always do too! I did make it sound bad though, thats because iut is bad.

I work at a theater. We have small arcade. We don't care what happens to those machines. They bring in a lot of money regardless of condition.

If I can track a Game Tech down this year I'll see what I can get done.
This is assuming they even own the machine?

sweet, Then great america can have patched up arcades. I mean if you have 5 DDR machines. and Only one machine is ever played, wheres the money? To one machine. It would make sence to fix them to get more omey. i mean the pads are an easy fix. The aroows just get cut, and you solder them back on. On rare occasions the arrow jams, ans that due to stuff getting stuck in the arrows. Easy fix. as for the moniters. They need I think 2 new ones. One by the revolution (DDRMAX2), and DDR EXTREME at the batman arcade. Then everything is fixed. Oh what the hell. Throw in a ITG2 while their at it. I could guarntee them more money by doing all of this.

At SFStL one of their pads was broken and I found a tech in like 5 minutes. He fixed it immediatly and gave me 3 free games.

You really don't know the arcade buisness do you?
Or the construction of a machine for that matter.

Those arrows require no soldering.
Sensors involve no soldering.

These aren't like home pads where they are triggered by an electrical current being completeted.

These are pressure sensors.
Arrow presses sensors, sensor presses down and completes a circuit.
I know it sounds like I just said it didn't require that but that was in direct relation from foil to sensor like your home pads probably are.

Theres no need for an ITG2 upgrade there either.
Most geepers don't even know what DDR is...
...let alone ITG.

Look up the construction of a DDR pad.

oops, I forgot that arcade pads are sensord. You are right, they are constructed differntly, and I am getting a 3rd metal dance pad soon, that was once an a arcade. But they are still easy fixes. If the sensor brakes, it an easy fix, repair it, or but a new one if its busted.

also I didn't mean upgrade, I mean a whole new machine of In The Groove 2. I mean every time I go to six flags there is a line at the american eagle arcade, so ya.

Why should they get a dedicab?

That's a waste of $10,000 having that thing get murdered at a theme park.
Unless they can keep it up.
And the Extreme by Eagle was cleaned about twice the whole season.

I don't think a dedicab is worth it.
Maybe an upgrade.

you do bring up a good point. They could buy one used for just as much as an upgrade as well. Upgrades are expensive remebrer especially a DDR to an ITG2. Because the machines have to have memeory cards which boosts the price alot. Not to mention the program itslef. I mean, I would rathen buy a used real one over a upgrade because it just does feel right as an upgrade. Kinf of like the ITG2 at Brunswick Zone Napperville. It was upgraded from a DDR machine. and it is missing 2 buttons, as well as the memory card slot in the wrong place.

It's not in the wrong place at BZN.
Thats how upgrade kits are for ITG2.

Also, upgrades with the USB slots are only $100 more.
It's suprisingly cheaper to upgrade.
Really cheaper.

You did, closing day I played YOU in the final DDR game of the season in the Eagle Tent.

Although I've only played about 5 times this winter I am consistently getting B's and A's on standard so I think I'll try heavy sometime soon.

Used Dedicabs cost around the price of a new DDR machine.

http://www.inthegroove.biz

Upgrades are only $3,000

I can do Vertex 2 Hard and barely pass Expert.
Lengend of Max I barely missed an AA.
