Clones

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby highroller13 on July 17th, 2003, 2:44 pm
I think they should stop making clones. maybe 1, but like four batman is crazy. There should be a varity at parks, so when you travel there is selection, and not just the same rides. What do you all think?

sarcasm I completely agree. The fact that there are 2 Batmans in Texas, 1 in California, Georgia, Lousiana, Quebec, Missouri, and who knows else where makes me hate the ride when I go to Great America! And just the thought of there being a mirror image of Viper in New York... It makes me want to hurl! And knowing there are 2 other Supermen around the States... It's like we live in a Bizzaro universe! Worst of all, some sinsiter person even had 2 Demons exist! Oh the horror! The only rides I really like at Great America are Iron Wolf, Raging Bull, and American Eagle. Everything else, it all sucks. Knowing there are others around the world like them really make me mad and hate them. And I really hate Cedar Point. Wild Cat is a clone, and Mantis is a near clone of one in Kentucky. Raptor has a clone in Japan. Oh how I hate that park, how dare they make me ride so not-unique rides...sarcasmPlanea, I think there are 5 or 6 Cy-clones. One in Japan, SFoG, SFAW, SFMM, SFGAm, and the original are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Boomerangs and Vekoma SLCs are much more common.

It keeps ride costs down because the won't have to higher designers and engineers to design the ride it is already done.

Couldn't they make it a little bit different, like put make a few more turns, or add an inversion.

Oh my god...my sarcasim meters off the charts. I haven't seen ratings this high since the last "When is Deja Vu opening" topic. :)I have only rode 1 Batman, 1 SLC, 1 Boomerang, 1 GIB, 1 S:UF, 1 Demon, 1 Cyclone Clone (kind of weird to say that) and 1 Arrow megalooper. The only clone I have rode two of is V2 and S:UE.Just because theres more rides out there that are the same does that mean I will ever get the chance to ride them? Cloning them gives me a chance to ride the ride without having to travel as far. While we are talking about rides I hate that are cloned, I hate the Ferris Wheel, Bumper Cars, Chaos rides, S&S towers, Giant Drop, Flying Bobs/Thunderbolts/HayBaylers, Falling Stars, Music Expresses, Zippers and basically every other flat ride out there. They clone flats all the time, nobody cares, so why care about coasters?EDIT: Fixed a grammar mistake.

Yeah, I second what Dave said... I mean, we ride rides because of the thrill, and because they're fun! If they've got a ride that's thrilling and fun, why not make a few of them, and put them in a few different parks so many people can enjoy them.

Dave, if he's complaining parks have built too many, he is getting bored with them. If he is getting bored with them, he has rode them all. Otherwise, he wouldn't be complaining, because any intelligent person knows they have no right to complain because it doesn't effect them. 8)

Definately not. I'm not sure which coaster models have been cloned the most, but a couple that I think of off the top of my head that have been cloned more than B:TR are the Vekoma SLC's and Boomerangs. I know there are a lot more models of coasters that have more than 12 clones...

The reason why there are clones or mirrored coasters is beacuse the parks ask the company for them. They think that that coaster is good enough for them and its a cheaper buy. Some of the most cloned or mirrored rides I can think of are: Shuttle Loops, SLCs, Boomerangs, and speed coasters (I think).

I've been on 4 Boomerangs, 4 SLCs and 2 BTRs, and I'm still a great person. It hasn't drastically changed my life! I still love coasters - "uh oh, it's the same coaster 8 hours from my house" I actually like riding clones and trying to find differences among one ride to another - intensity, location, maintenance, crews, etc.

BTR is great! Its a very intense ride! Since it takes up a small space and the fact that its a great ride its ok to clone it 3 or 4 or eve 5 times. But to make 11 more BTR's? There is no need for that.
Eh, what's up?

There is that many because the parks ordered them. They dont care if there are a lot of them already. If they want it then they will order it and get it. It also is cheaper to get a clone.
