This is going to be one of the most premiere wood coasters on the planet. Just looking at the updated pics it is like a combination of many of my favorite coasters all on one ride.
First
You've got the Hades action going on. Now I've been on Hades at least thirty times let me tell you; a gravity group designed tunnel is absolutely amazing. The way they make the bank underground is intense. I doubt any of the many...many...tunnels on this track will be as long as Hades, but judging from these pics they will pack a punch. During a hot day its actually a considerably lower temp in the concrete tunnels GravGroup uses.
Also on a side note, it enters the tunnel on a huge bank like MilleniumForce would. If it were wood. It would!
Then you have:
Being a HUGE AmericanEagle fan, I admire this huge helix. It almost looks empty with it not being a racer with a double track.
Next you've got
Is it just me or don't the first hills seem like MagnumXL?
http://themeparkcritic.com/scripts/profile/ViewProfile.asp?ViewID=2909 A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!
Yeah, I've seen some photos, really does look like an AMAZING woodie. This think looks to have it all, High Gee Force overbanked turns, massive airtime hills, something for everyone!
2 galleries there one for Rumbler and one for Voyage, was a good test for my brand new camera.
(and I do realize Rumbler shots are much smaller, lower quality and there are missing pics if you look at the numbers, that is intentional)
With that out of the way, I might write a TR in the TR forum in the near future, but the Voyage tour was average, and Beech Bend bent over backwards to accomodate us, fed us all kinds of pizza and desserts (no food was included in the price of that tour), then to top it off, they unexpectedly opened the coaster for us for a commercial shoot despite them telling us all morning that it'd be a few weeks til they got it operational.
Truely outstanding hospitality on Beech Bends part.
Favorite Wood Coasters: The Voyage, Ravine Flyer II, Thunderhead, Balder Favorite Steel: Voltron Nevera, Steel Vengeance, Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping Parks visited: 232, Coasters Ridden: Steel: 894, Wood: 179, Total: 1073
I must echo what FParker185 said. The Holday World tour was cool, but Beech Bend was the shining star of the weekend. The hospitality and friendliness that the park and GCI showed us was even greater than the thrills that the Rumbler provided..and that's saying something!
The Kentucky Rumbler is truly an amazing coaster. It has a surprisingly great first drop, hauls #$$ the entire course of the ride, and has some great lateral and negative g-forces. It's also as smooth as a baby's bottom. If you head to southern Indiana to ride Voyage, you would be doing yourself a disservice NOT to head the 2+ hrs. to Bowling Green to checkout Beech Bend and the Kentucky Rumbler.
Anyone seen the media day footage yet? I'm going to opening day on Saturday, and was planning on it BEFORE watching this. I absolutely can't wait to ride the future best coaster of 2006.
