First Ameri-Go-Round and Edge, then Scenic Railway, then Greezy, then Triple Play and now Orbit is gone at Paramount's Great America. Paramount posted their new map on their website and the area where orbit was is now a grassy spot.
What doesnt make sense is that PGA is removing these classic rides when (from what ive heard) they are still popular. What ALSO doesnt make sense is the fact that once they were removed (except for Edge), NOTHING came in to replace them. Orbit, Triple Play and Greezy's sites are still empty, and Greezy's former area is a total mess.
If you're going to take out a ride, PUT SOMETHING IN ITS PLACE!!
THIS, is what I call Poor Management.

They have also removed the old Burgers on the Run building (when you exit the AE tent there's a red and white burger place) for Survivor-The Ride It's not just the Marriott rides being removed, its the buildings too!!
Have you also noticed that they dont use their Pictorium anymore? They havent used it in several years. It's nothing but an empty shell now. At least they could have put an arcade or something in there instead of letting it rot away.

That too doesnt make sense. They could have easily moved Great American Hot Dog back a bit like our park did when they moved the County Fair train station.
All I can say is that their park is not following in our park's great direction. However, they have done some good things there. The way they organized their Loggers Run and Waterpark was brilliant and I still think their park is nicer looking in some areas (paint on Sky Trek Tower, etc.). One thing is for sure, though, the elimination of rides for nothing is a bad decision.
RIP: Trailblazer and Deja Vu...heck, even Alien Encounter

It's not just a PGA thing, it's Paramount as a whole. They seem to be pretty good at removing popular rides and sometimes not replacing them with anything. Although PGA seems to be the worst of their parks.
These rides were old, and they didn't feel that they could fix them as in the condition they were. It is kind of shocking how both parks got rid of there Tidal Wave, Gulf Coaster, wanted/did get rid of Whizzer, had/has a flying coaster, they both had Vekoma ride almost but not quite exactly the same, have a Demon (obvious), and have something like an Iron Wolf/Vortex.
They also both have mice and inverted rides that were the same color. They are kinda of copy cats. Triple Play is leaving because of an accident though, and not because they really are going to take it out. They probably looked at what the other park choice to put in considering (I'm guessing) the layout is the same. They both canceled Sky Whirl. Parts

Well that comment doesn't make much sense. SFGAm still has Orbit, Triple Play, Scenic Railway, and others that PGA removed and they are all STILL RUNNING and running well I might add.
Triple play at PGA was taken out a few years ago.. I am unsure why it was taken out but I have heard they use former location for a que line system for the Pass Processing Center.
I meant that the base was in bad condition that was supposed to go to SFOT. Accident, sorry. I didn't mean there was an accident. Sorry, for the misconfusion.
Older rides are harder to keep up then newer rides. The train being taken out (is less about it being older) seems to do with what management has chosen.

From what I heard, PGA was suppose to get PKD's Hypersonic XLC, but a sudden change of plan left PGA screwed. The train was already removed in preparation but it was too late.
^Yep. From what I've read, PKD's Hypersonic was supposed to go in PGA's Hometown Square, with the station right where the Hometown train station was. I guess signs were put up and everything... but it obviously went to PKD instead.
