Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

Should Six Flags be held responsible if the woman was in fact injured by a cell phone?

Six Flags was ordered to pay a woman $3.6 million dollars after a 2000 incident at a former Six Flags Park.

The Milwaukee area woman was either hit by a stone or a cell phone while she rode the Villian rollercoaster at the Six Flags Worlds of Adventure park.

i dont think they should have to. It's not six flags' fault that the person didn't secure their cell phone well enough.

The person who is fault shouldn't be Six Flags. The person who lost their cell phone and the people who are throwing rocks should be the ones in trouble. The people who were throwing rocks did it purposely while the cell phone person didn't do it on purpose.

If it's on purpose, then I see why someone should be able to sue another person, and not the park. If it's an accident, it's an accident. Maybe, they should help pay for some of the money, but not for all of it. And what is the fault with the park???????????? That's as bad as the coffee being too hot incident.

So, if someone throws a rock at the American Eagle, and it hits someone; then it's the parks fault. Were did we go wrong as a country??

For the people that say yes, I guess your argument is that Six Flags should have control over every person's cell phone, and to make sure that every person who throws a rock gets kicked out of the park.
What rule can you tell people riding rollercoasters for SF not to get sued again??? "We are not responsible for people who being a bunch of idiots throwing rocks at the train, nor we are not responsible if your cell phone gets out of your own pocket while you riding the coaster."

Maybe, now they should ban cell phones from even coming into the park. This jury is a mockery. They felt sorry for the guy, and thus wanted to get the money from the park instead of the person or people that really caused incident. My guess is that he has no clue who really caused the incident in the first place. He also probably felt that SF would give him the most money compared to another person. People want (alot) of MONEY, and it's like a drug to them. Back to Is coffee hot, or not? Wasn't that Kindergarten you learned that.

There is nothing the park could have done about it. They can't tell people what to do once the ride starts and they had nothing to do with the individual who lost the item. Unless it is ride or park operation related, I don't think theme parks should have to pay. So I voted no.

I voted no,that is complete crap.Last year I got hit with a rock on the third hill of Raging Bull, but I didn't complain to the staff because it was not their fault.I did though got in an arguement with the person who threw the rock,he got kicked out of the park and I was happy.

It all goes back to the buying your admission ticket. The back of the admission ticket clearly states:

"Six Flags assumes no responsibility for accident or loss to any person in connection with the condition or use of the park, rides and amusements"

The problem is that this is very vague so many people argue that not everything could possibly fit under this clause.

Something else to consider is that if I go to the playground down the street (owned and maintained by our park district) and some kid throws a rock at me, fat chance I'll win a lawsuit against the park district for not protecting me. Why does the same not apply to Six Flags?
