Awesome! So it looks like it will be up for opening day? I hope so. I love freefall rides.

That's great. The park needed a modern family section and obviously needed a freefall tower. Does anyone know if the old kiddy section will remain?

Most of the old kids rides have been relocated to the new area. A few of the old rides do remain at the front of the park. They are going to use the old space to extend the moon car track to a length similar to its original length.

A few notes on the new Drop Tower. It will be a little different experience from Giant Drop. This tower has been placed at the rear of the park which is the highest point in the park. SFSTL is built into a hillside with an elevation difference of a few hundred feet between the front entry plaza and the first drop on Screaming Eagle.

Previously the First Drop on Screaming Eagle had marked the highest point in the park, above B:TR, Mr. Freeze, Boss, Slingshot, and Xcaliber even though it is shorter than all of those rides.

This means that the view from the new tower will not only be a view of the entire park below you, but it will also appear that you are 300-400 feet above the park depending on your position on the tower.

The tower is also in a section of the park known for getting gusts of wind from the hills. I would have to imagine that the sway effect at the top will be quite a bit.

And in the make money by wasting money category - This ride has already been painted and erected as Acrophobia with four different colored sections. It was quite ugly, but now it will be repainted to match the Superman theme. This means that SFI gets to pay for all new paint, plus the added expense of sending painters up the tower versus when it was originally painted on the ground. Not to mention the ride originally had a medival theme and is placed near the medival sherwood area, but for some reason they felt the need to retheme it twice.

I like the idea of where they decided to put their "new" freefall. It should give a really scary effect to some riders.

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

That is an awesome location. You know, I finally understand why i had an easy time seeing Screamin' Eagle from the rode, but not Batman, which was right in the front. Thanks again for the valuable info ihauntu2!!

On another note, we have another Superman to add to the "I take away from the park's theme" catagory.

That'll be a nice addition to the park, especially the location, I am trying to head out there some time in September, maybe.

That is probably the best location for a tower. But, i've already ridden the AW version, which is this. Trust me, unless they refurbish it or something, this is way less fun than Giant Drop.

This is great. When I visited the park, I was suprised to find no free fall type ride in the park. This is a good move, and I guess I should visit the park again soon.

I recieved this by e-mail today. The web based copy can be found at
http://cdi-mail.net/SFSL/blasts/SFSL_2006-02.1/

The first thing to catch my eye was "Family Fright Fest" under concerts and events. The second thing was Lights and fireworks show nightly.

I wonder if this means they'll cut me some good deals on the props they won't be using?

Does anybody know if the park plans to do its "Double Ride" weekend again like last year? I mean it didn't really matter since crowds were nonexhistant but it was nice to get to have two tries at the Basketball game instead of one...

I haven't seen it announced, so I highly doubt it. If I get an e-mail for it like last season, I'll post it here.

zjohn1988 - The event was called "Spring Fling", and it was the first four weekends of last season. The double rides were only valid on certain rides.

My daughters first time on SE was 2 times in the front row because of this program. :D
