Japan's new Coaster looks like a 4D?????

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby TwistedSTEEL666 on February 2nd, 2006, 11:55 pm
Well, well, well....this is interesting...

Neither Fuji-Q Highland or S&S Power have officially announced that this ride will be of "4th Dimension" design. Based on pictures taken at the site, comments made by the park and facts known in the industry, the probability of this being anything but an 4th Dimension coaster by S&S Power has become remarkably remote.

The teaser signs posted around the construction area don't provide much information. The bottoms of the signs all say the same thing - basically the Japanese equivalent of "Pardon our dust" in regards to noise and inconvenience. Another reoccurring thing stated on the signs is "Episode 3". This has nothing to do with Star Wars movies, but the third of three large coasters built 5 years apart: Fujiyama (1996), Dodonpa (2001) and this new one for 2006.

The second sign is asking "Is her name Kyoto?"

The third sign is asking "Is her name Fujiko?" -- the name of a female heroine on the long running "Lupin the 3rd" anime series.

The 4th asks "Is her name Hittori?". This is historically a Ninja, but the indication of femininity is strange as Ninja are male.

An additional sign (not pictured) asks "Is his name Tempura?"

Finally, one more sign (not pictured) shows a picture of the Double Loop. This sign indicates the Double Loop is in a "Final State" and its replacement is a "Next generation triple-axle".

Does this look like a 4D to you? I got the feeling it might be a clone of X at SFMM.....

I've seen this on other forums, anyone think that could be a dual station?
I've been reading that it could be all over but it just dosen't make sense.

Trains are 20ft wide?
About another 40ft for moving room on the ends?
Then a good 20ft in between them?

That's no 80ft station right there.

Its most likely a 4d, it has the structure of one, another awesome ride that most of us probably wont ever ride in our lifetime or its.
I'm running to Bull on opening day, anyone gets in my way and they'll get trampled.

Well, I know I won't be riding it any time soon. Most likely never. It's cool to see that 4d's haven't lost interest though.

I think that it's definatly a 4D. There are 4 rails, just like X. This is awesome. I know that it won't be a clone though. I don't think that a different company would make a clone of a ride made from a different company. I'm glad though, this means that 4D's can be made again now. I wish that I could ride on one. X looks really fun. I hope that in 3 years or less, another S&S 4D gets made in the US.

That would be awesome. If B&M made one, it would be the best out of all of them.

A B&M 4D?! I always had that in mind, that they would do one,

It would probley be like this: In the station you got the four across trains (the ones we all know that B&M use), the station is extra wide, beacuse once everybody is loaded up in the trains, then the two sides of the four accross trains split down the middle, one side of 2 passengers goes to the left side, and the other side goes to the right...then they go out of the station like that...

A close look at the track in the station shows, a very large piece of track, it has two primary rails and two secondary rails, when the trains splits, a pair of chains or belts pulls each side to the secondary rail, which is level with the primary rails....the secondary rails then are only level in the station...EACH split part of the four across train sits on a center part which pushes out in pulls in the two halfs, (and also spins them 360 via an axle, but only when the ride calls for it) of the four across seats via pulleys, chains or belts...the Center part ITSELF rides on the primary rails, while the two halfs ride on the secondary rails....

That's my idea for a B&M 4D coaster...

^I'd have to agree with you. I am not really fond of the way this one is looking, however it is still really early in the construction phase to be critical.

B&M's 4d that they got a patent for really doesnt look all that great.

Cars cartwheel instead of sommersault.

Also Arrow/S&S has not offered 4-D for sale since X opened, they said they would not offer it til they found different materials for the trains that weigh less and offer the same strength, as the main issue for X is the sheer weight of the trains. I'd assume they found something and will again offer 4-D's for sale, though really no one would buy one anymore with Six Flags temporarily out of the new thrill ride business, Paramount up for sale, and Cedar Fair not liking prototypes.

I thought the B&M patent for the 4D was pretty cool. However, Arrow is starting to make these again, I can see maybe one be put into a Cedar Fair park after another 2 or 3 being put up and running better than X.

^I would be able to see that happening soon. Cedar Fair maybe would plop one of these down somewhere. But if I was them, I'd want to see if this can be kept up right here once its complete.
