Let's do some coaster dissection. What are your favorite elements on any coaster at SFGAm? Do you like loops, corkscrews, banked turns, etc? Some of my favorites are the double helix on the Eagle and that upward helix after the second loop on Batman. The lateral Gs on that Batman helix are incredible.
Mine used to be Batmans in-line-twist, then it was V2's vertical tower (in the back seat), but then it was Deja Vu's cobra roll, but now its definatly S:UF's pretzel loop.
Arrow Dynamics (now S-S Arrow) calls the element after the brake run on Shockwave a bommerang. Vekoma calls the element after the first vertical drop a boomerang. Each company has their own names for certain elements.
SFGAmfreak4life, lets make it more confusing for them. Originally, the inversion after Shockwave's brakes were called Kamikazi curves. The first one was on Orient Express, which operates at Worlds of Fun in Missouri. I don't know when Arrow changed what they called it, but at some point they did. Also, Six Flags would call Shockwave's boomerang a pretzel loop. 3 names for 1 element on 1 coaster, how great is that?
Hello everyone!! I'm new to these boards and this is my first post.I think the best element is, without a question, S:UF's pretzel loop.Deja Vu's first drop is a close second (maybe it'll be higher if I'd ever get to ride it again)
yes the cobra roll/boomerang/butterfly turn is great. I also like the pretzel loop and zero-g-roll, but my favorite has to be the simple but ever popular bunny hop on a wooden coaster. Why? because it creates the most airtime. ie..the last bunny hop on viper at SFGam or even some of the smaller hills on American Eagle. They are designed for airtime, and they have delivered and continue to deliver on both steel and wooden coasters alike. And also, the element after Shockwave's brakerun was also known as a kamikaze curve.
you can't believe it - you didn't mean it
but they saw you do it and they know your name
My favorite element on a wooden coaster at SFGAm are the bunny hops on Viper, and my favorite element on a steel coaster is S:UF's pretzel loop from Row 8.
Um..Tie between Pretzel Loop on S:UF (nothing like getting sucked up from the chest restraints into the back of the seat), the 3rd hill on Raging Bull (overly trimmed), or the back spike on V2 (without trim). I prefer airtime to G forces any day.
Yes I do know that it was originaly called a kamikaze curve. They only used that term for the Orient Express and after that they changed it to boomerang. I also saw on a few sites that the Arrow boomerang was called a bowtie and on some others they called it a butterfly turn. Now its even more confusing.
An Arrow bow tie is only seen on Dragon Mountain at Marine World (or is it Marine Land?) near Niagra Falls in Canada. It's like the multiple-name, multipe-inversion element featured on Shockwave, except you exit facing the same direction as you entered, rather than doing a 180 turn. In RCT terms, it's a corkscrew left, half loop, half loop, corkscrew left again.
I forgot to say what my favorite elements are. I love RB first drop, V2's front spike, S:UF's pretzel loop, Vipers bunny hills, Demons corkscrews, DV's first drop and boomerang, AE's first drop, IW's loop, and B:TR's inline twist.
