Whats your Worst Experience on a GA Roller Coaster?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Umm, Timmy -- I think you understood that wrong. That's not what oinawaboy wrote. He's the one that must have posted something wrong; hen one of the Mod's edited his post and put in what you see now, removing his original message. When it says, "Mod Note", it means a Mod wrote it. It was the Mods doing their job. (BTW, I wonder what it is that oinawaboy had written?)Oh and one more thing, this topic is about bad experiences at GAm, not the bumpiness/jerkiness of Shockwave and IW.

T_Biggs wrote:I don't know why people call Wolf bumpy. It's jerky, not bumpy. Shockwave was both. Bumpy makes me think of a train shuffling, which Wolf really can't do, all of it's wheels are always in contact with the track. The problem (to some, and to some its a great part of it,) is the transitions are very very sudden. I have never been on another B&M coaster where you can see the whole train suddenly whip around at the top of a flatspin. And I don't think any other B&M has intense of a figure 8 than Wolf. Because of the sharp changes in banking, it makes it jerky. This is the way I see it, maybe some of you are riding it when it's wheels are about to be replaced, that can make any ride bumpy, I guess.
Last year I was looking at the trains when they were entering the station from the transfer track, standing on the exit ramp. And I noticed something that didn't look right. Unlike most B&M coasters the bottom wheels where NOT touching the track. I know I was not seeing things.

Timmy, I put that note there for him to read. Don't worry, it was me doing it, not him. He had posted some inappropriate things.

TooTired-I have seen the same thing on Iron Wolf. It seems the upstop wheels dont always make contact with the track and thus they dont spin. It looked like there was a very small gap between the track and the wheels. Maybe they slowly gap and need to be readjusted every so often.

My worst expierience on a roller coaster was on the Iron Wolf. I know you all say it not that bumpy, but it is. I was on the back of the Iron Wolf. The first half of the ride was intense and fun. But after the corkscrew, the ride went insane. My head went bouncing every which way. I tried keeping my neck straight, but I just couldn't. The best part of the ride for me were the brakes because the ride was over! In my own opinion, I know people agree w/ me here, Iron Wolf deserves to go, or be re-tracked and re-painted because the color of it just plain out sucks!-Brian

I think he was saying that he should have ditched his relatives, because he stood outside of the bathrooms for way too long. I know the feeling, and I too get very annoyed. And the guy who was stuck on Demon, he got nothing, because if he was stuck on it, it was on the lift or brakes, because he wasn't anywhere near the park the day it was stuck upsidedown. Look at his first post here anyways. He said it was on Viper. No one who is telling the truth would say a ride on Viper was the worst, then, later, suddenly remember being stuck upsidedown on Demon. I mean, come on, I told a better lie when I said I was God.

Dont swell Travis's head. Thats the last thing we need around here. :lol:If my 8 year old daughter can get off Iron Wolf completely happy and wanting to ride again, then it must not be that rough. Her head is swallowed by the OTSR's and she hasnt one time complained about headbanging.Travis is right (oh lord, did I just say that? ) Iron Wolf is not rough. It has extremely tight turns and transitions.

I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

My worst experience was in 1995 on Batman. It was a private night for the Chicago Merchantile Exchange in September and it was about 45 degress. The combination of the cold air and the speed caused me to have a asthma attack in the middle of the ride. Fortunately I had my inhaler with me and as soon as the ride ended I was able to use it and breathe normal again. The lesson I learned that night was important....never ride a coaster unless it is at least 60 degress!

Does anyone ever respect each other's opinion here? I think the answer is a big, resounding NO!BTW, I (Sigh!) agree with Travis.Ok, well, saying a little smaller made it a little easier. No one does need to make his head any bigger.in my opinion, Iron Wolf is a great ride! Last time I was at the park, it was near closing, and there was no line, so the ride ops let my friends and I stay on for three cycles... we could have stayed on longer if we hadn't had to meet the rest of our group. I, and the whole group, in fact, loved it!

I think Iron Wolf can be a good ride, only if you are a tall person so that your head doesn't smash into the restraint, and it also depends where you sit(I mean stand) on the ride. When I rode it twice last Sunday, the 1st time was in the front, which was actually surprisingly smooth. But the 2nd time was in the last row. A different story there.(I think I already said this already in earlier posts, but oh well).-Brian
