10/9. Awsome

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Drkstarboard on October 9th, 2004, 10:34 pm
As we all know by now that mr.deja vu and some of my friends and me went to SFGAm toda (10/9 obviously)

All rides were open except Condor, Sky Trek Tower, and the water rides.

Here is my list: V2:2 / A.E.B:1/ BTR:2/ S:UF:1/ and a bunch of flat rides. Lines for the roller coaters were long.

Also something else AWSOME happened. When my friend and I went on V2 for the second time; we were like 4 rides away from riding. So we decided to watch the people get pinned down to the seat. So V2 launched and goes up the first tower. Then my friend and I heard a sound, a sound that did not sound good. Then the train comes back through the station but slows down. My friend and I experieced a V2 E-stop. It was SO AWSOME.
It's green. It's blue. It's all over you! Enjoy your ride on Déjà Vu

The mauseleum line at 8 oclock was a little over an hour. Its a really fast wait though. There was over a hundred feet of people outside it but once you got your ticket, you went into the switchbacks and it was only 45 minutes. It felt extremely shorter than that because i was having a good time. There was a corn throwing war between people in line and some people on the other side, and we were whipping them back and forth. There were some cool lighing affects, and they had this really small haunted houe thing (more of a room with sensors and little props in it) but then you came out if it and went up onto the hill where you get ready to go in.

How about we make this the official trip report thread, so there isnt 3 from the same day on the same page, all talknig about the same thing. Hres my trip report:

I got to the park at 5:45 and it was packed. (Im not going to do this like most tr where people list what they did or hat time they did what and no one cdares, Im just going to review the event, the house, and fill you in on any events worth talking about.)

We didnt ride any roller coasters but viper, and didnt go on any other rides. The only house we went in was the maus, but it was well worth the wait. The front enterence looks amazing this year, and they used a TON of fog around the enterence to orleans place.

Heres where you might now wanna keep reading if you want to see for yourelf. A lot of spoilers on the way.

I thought the new necropolis looked way better (entering in the other direction). For some reason it felt smaller though, and like they were shuffling us through. It was way cooler at the beginning though because the small walkway with added mulch (making the path even thinner) turns the beginning of necro into a single file line, and it felt as if i was in an outdoor haunted house. The bushes did great this year because a row of corn that is meant to narrow the walkway doubles as a blind spot, so you cant see the bushes. Even though you know there there, its still freakier for some reason. The bushes were also able to scare more people because since the path was so narrow people had to keep moving, so they couldnt stand around and ruin it for everyone else.

Once in the higher end of the city, th decorations were the same as al the other years. I have to give props to jpm this year also. The costumes this year were SO much freakier. The dude with an axe and a mullet in necro was SO cool looking words cannot describe. The chicks in necro looked really cool too, but their costumes were really random. One chick looked like she was wearing a red high school jacket, but whatever it was, it was cool. The gravediggers were scrawny little gothic punks with shovels and they looked cool too. Im not dissing them, Im just describing their outfits. The stage for the freak show was under a giant roof nd had a cool stage set. I didnt catch the show though. All I saw was a guy jumping on broken glass. There was hardly any lighting, and around the exit to the maus all the lights were red purple and strobes.

SPOILER ALLERT: MAUS REVIEW AND DESCRIPTION

The mausoleum was 10 times better than last year. It actually looked like six flags and the company that designed the house spent more than 10 minutes designing it. HUGE step up from last years, which was just a bunch of stupid blacklit scenes, semed like hardly any characters, and absolutelly no flow. This year, they put all the scenes from the old sadies house in there, and the only high tech thrills they kept were the tunnel, the mirror maze, and a room where there were strobes and bodybags hanging. Even that room was longer than before. The house had a really cool western atmosphere and alot of detail. It was pitch black when you walked in and turned left, then a guy scared you from behind a corner and someho you eventually end up in an awesome mirror maze. Theres a hall of mirrors, hall of portraits, an electric chair scene thats different from the past (southwestern theme and costumes, not insane asylum atmosphere). I cant remember much else except a really cool looking leatherface, and a room in the medlle of the house with freddy crouger, but it beat the crap out of last years house and is well worth the 7 dollar admission, 10 dollar combo.

In all, necropolis earns a 9 out of 10. Even though the reverse direction thing makes a queue-like traffic jam, and it feels way shorter walking from one end to the other for some reason, I was blown away by the quality of the scareacters costumes in comparison to last years.

Next was mardi gras. My favorite clown from last year was back with a creepier but similar face paint job (hes the one with the microphone thing and the smiley face on his trenchcoat). They also had a guy in a purple velvet jacket, the clown from last year with the huge chin, spiked hair and knives, and a clown with a giant (dont know what theyre called but judges bang on the dest and yell order with them). In orleans place, the vampires were back and it seemed like there was more of them. They also had the sliding victims. The werewolves were so amazing and they chased the girls we were with into arcades. I got really annoyed though because some idiot tripped a werewolf and his security guard ran over to the group of kids and let them have it.

The southwest territory crew was boring, as usual. Sorry any jpm people, but I have to be honest. The rest of the creature crew were amazing (well except for the trolls) but southwest scarratory sucked as usual. I just dont get how a skinny old lady who looks like my grandma could possibly scare anyone (especially since shes allways smiling). My group watched her follow a group of 7 year old girls with their mom and they just tunred around, looked at her, and kept going. Id be so embarrassed if that was me.

The grand finale of the night was a visit to the Illinois troll bridge. Thinking that since it was nighttime they would stop counting farts and do what they used to do best, they were posing for pictures with a 3 year old and her little sibling in a stroller. First off I was mad at the fact that the event is caled FRIGHT FEST and stupid baby boomers still insist on showing up with their 3 year olds who are bawling their eyes out and ruin the event for the rest of us who want to get scared. It was 10:30 and people were strolling their todlers through the park still. Go home and put the kid to sleep allready. I also get md whn I see this kind of stuff because I know that people with girls 9 and under are the overrotective dumb blondes who will go comlain at the front of the park later on saying the event is too scary. TAKE A HINT PEOPLE. Anyways, I was allready mad because when we were pointing at the girls we were with for the trolls to scare them because they get scared really easily, they just started mocking us. (All the other characters in EVERY scarezone had fun scaring them and went allong with it. We had a clown chase them from big easy balloons to the railroad tracks and both werewolfs and vampires make them run into stores). So anyways, I turned to my friend as we were walking by the trolls and said that the trolls were horrible again this year and one heard us and said that when the little kids were gone .... couldnt hear what he said. Then he came over to us and said "maybe I dont get paid forsucking as much as your mom does ..." cant remeber again. Then he continued on saying when I go through puberty and my ball drop to come back and say shit. After he was done dishing it out to me, he asks if we wanted him to keep going. Then he started making fun of my girlfriends highlights and then he said nice socks to her. Dumb as she is, she kicked off her shoe and said "these?" Then the troll said no the ones in your shirt.

I dont care if I made a stupid comment or gave the guy a hard time, I didnt do anything to anyone else and i understand all the crap they put up with. I was just POed because they arent doing anything scary anymore. What he did was WAY out of line though. Go scare a group of girls like your supposed to and take al the pictures with little kids you want, but you cant just start talkin trash and making fun of people like that.

Anyways, my group was really pissed off so we complained at guest relations. I made it clear though that I want there to be scary characters but I was just pissed at that one individual for being an asshole like that. Right after that ended, some dude spit a loogy in a trolls face and the relief crew or whatever you call them ran over and al the trolls crowded around and he got in big trouble. He started talknig and a troll was like "i never told you to talk. Shut the F*** up!"

In all, besides my run-in with the trolls, I had a great time. The costumes in the left side of the park were amazing, the mausoleum of terror was excellent, and necropolis blew me away. The costumes in necropolis looked great. I didnt get to go on any coasters but viper, and i never went on hellevator, terror twister, the freak show, or sleepy hollow. Im dying to get in the maus again. I wil be back there again soon.

I went today too, it was great. The theming was excellent this year, the clowns, vampires and dead cowboys were god as always. Although I think Necropolis wasnt as good as last year, but it was still good. I didnt go in any houses today, but I will next time. I really wanted to goin MoT but the lines were pretty long. The end with leather face looked pretty good. We also saw the Love at First Froght and the Susan Rosen show, both were good. I'll post pics tomorow.

Fright Fest itself is good, but in my opinion they killed Necropolis by reversing it.

I too was among those that went to six flags on this date. It was quite fun. The themeing around the park is much better than previous years, but necropolis is lacking. Lines were HORRIBLE. Deja Vu was only open in the morning and a bit of the afternoon, after that it said "this ride will not open today". I got a ride in, it was fun as usual. I noticed that a cage of sorts, perhaps from an old ride was outside the fence of ragin' cajun. I know what ride but i can't think of the name. This years jugglers o death are pretty good. The same three people from the jug o jugglers are doing it. Manny B rocked, cool special effects. They have that same obnoxious parade song from last year, plug your ears! Freak shows rocked! the girl in front of me fainted during it!!

The Freak shows always bring back great memories. :D Pm me sometime.

So is Manny in the Snowshoe Saloon again like last year? Also, Sky Whirl is the ride with the cages. Anyone go on the Scooby Train? Is it the same as last year?

The last freak show (10:30 pm I think) was cancelled due to a 'medical emergency.' Anyone see any problems during the previous show?

I was impressed by Fright Fest. I'm glad King Kong is on Sky Trek with the search lights, and the colored lights on the midways appeared again this year, and now will likely be tradition. Very, very busy today also. Everything had huge lines. Love at First Fright, as usual, was awesome. The hypnotist show was also great... anyone see the show where the guy went out of control stuffing shoes into his pants/shirt and was rolling around on the ground when she told him he had a wedgie? ;)

As far as the trolls, yes, what he said was out of line.... but you have to consider that this is a family park as well. Taking some pictures with some kids keeps the parents and the kids happy. Necropolis is the only "R" rated area where it isn't catered for kids at all. You were talking **** about a character when he was pleasing other guests. Nevertheless, he went out of line with his comments.

Where were the trolls at I didn't see them at all I went around the whole park minus Orleans Place?

I went with my friend who came with the half price thing thats in the season pass booklets. I think it was so crowded because of the season pass booklet's bring a friend for half price and Taco Bell's buy one get one free tickets deal.

Well, we got there at 6:40 and had to wait 40 minutes just to buy a friggin ticket for him because Six Flags doesn't know how to staff ticket booths. 2 booths were open and the lines were aboput 40 deep each it was a complete joke.

After that shit we got in at 7:15 and went to Raging Bull. It had almost a full queue but with 3 trains it was only about a 45 minute wait. Then we did Batman which was maybe a 25 minute wait. I had to force my friend to go into Necropolis because he didn't really want to go in. I think last years was way better there was alot of characters but the themeing wasn't as good as it was before. Last year there was fog and detours and stuff that made it more interesting.

I was at the 9:30 show of the freak show. Nothing happened that seemed like it was a medical emergency but the freak show is good as hell about on par with last year. Captain Nasty ( AKA The Skunk ) is awsome as thought to be. The Masoleum line was huge so we didn't even attempt to buy tickets.

We finished out the night with rides on Hearsey Highway and Viper because the Mystery Train was closed when we went past there at 10:20 though I'm sure its not good because last year it wasn't. Overall I think that last year's was better unless Orleans Place is really amazing. Some parts were better( Carousel Plaza, Mardi Gras) but more places were worse ( Hometown Square, Scaritory, Country Fair, Yankee Harbor, Necropolis). I saw not a single monster in Carousel Plaza, Hometown Square, Scaritory County Fair and Yankee Harbor, and its not like I might have walked the wrong way I was looking for them and I didn't see one. I think that is pretty bad.

Overall I give Fright Fest a 6/10 I think it could've been alot better and last years was better. I hope they add some things in the comming weeks but I always say that every year and they seldom do, but maybe it will be different this year.

Maybe I gotta go back and check out necro again. I think the only reason I thought it was cool was because I went in at night time. If i see it in the day i will probibly think otherwise.

I didn't see mayor slayor all day, do you think that because he is the only guy who can play that character they let him have all of his conflict days? I hope he's there 10/10, I liked him. ..hmm.. Billy (the guy with the brain on a stick) was good, he's accquired a hat now.

Someone tripped a werewolf!?!? What were they thinking? I hope they got evicted.
The first years of the trolls they rocked, since they got this location over by orbit they've become too much of an, oddity? I can't really find a word to explain how they've come to suck, they just do. They're costumes are cool looking, and I saw a couple of kids running from them, but they were little kids running like they would from any person walking after them. The ditsy teenage girls wanted to take pictures and get hugs!

I noticed that no one mentioned the twins in necropolis. When they actually scare together, they're awesome! Whomever came up with the twin idea, props to you.

During the freak show I had to step out because of lack of eating and getting hot in the stuffy crowd (i got dizzy). I watched the whole rest of the show from a bench over by the maus exit. It was hilarous when this one girl and,I'm guessing, her younger sister were coming out and the older girl kept pointing out the people on the benches and saying, see, they're normal people, no more monsters. Then they went on to walk past the shovel guys and the twins.

We were there yesterday too, 10/9. We saw the Mayor. He was Necro and as usual he was great!. The twins in Necro were cool as hell..lol. We were walking away from The Muas and my fiance was calling her daughters name, and one of the twins asked which girl she was and they after her calling her name and just harrassed her and scard the hell out of her. It was great! They chased her all around Necro..lol. Thank you twins!! BTW, Maus was fantastic this year! I thought the trolls did a great job! Did anyone see any of the Brutal Planet props this year? I missed seeing the two towers.

Referring to da rcman2001's post. The trolls seem to not really care what they say and they are just rude and un-scary. The have also said rude things to me and my friends and I never really let them get to me. But what the said to you and your friends, was completely taken it a little too far and you did the right thing of taking it to Guest Relations.

Am I reading this correctly?

The trolls are supposed to scare and not be funny or tell people off?

THAT IS THE REASON THEY ARE THERE!!!

You haven't figured out that what they are doing is entertaining and amusing people? They aren't there to scare.

Make a comment to one of them and you will get an earfull from them. It's part of the act.

Complaining to GR is just ridiculous.

The trolls burp in people's faces, tell them off, crack on them, crack on themselves, and do other things that are off the wall.

The sooner you realize why they are there, the sooner you will understand.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

The traditinal character of a Troll is suppost to be mean and vulger, thats how trolls are known to act in books and movies. I do agree there is a fine line that shouldn't be crossed though and I think in Da rcman2001 case they not only crossed that line they jumped over it.

I agree with you 100%, it's one thing to make one comment back at you but to keep going. I sat and watched the trolls yesterday for a half hour, and im surprised a fight didn't break out. They not only were going after the teenagers but they were going after families too. I saw one troll call this one guy a shithead just for asking to take a picture with him. The next guy had his daughter go up and ask for a picture and the troll goes after the dad for being bald, not only does he make one joke he keeps going until the guy grabs his daughter and leaves.

There's a line, and the trolls have crossed it this year for sure. When they are pissing people off and they go from getting insulted from the trolls right to guest relations, that sets a very bad image for the park.
