I'm planning a trip out to paramounts kings island on the 24th. Has anyone here ever been to PKI during their version of ff, and i know that the park closes at 12, so do any of you know how the lines usually are there on weekends. On their website it says the best days to go are on weekdays during the summer and any day in october, april, or may. And how long is the line usually for SOB? Also how long is the drive from chicago?

The drive from Chicago is about 5 hour depending on which part of Chicago your going from. I suggest checking Mapquest.com for a more accurate travel time.

Son of Beast's line in mid-summer when I was there never got to be more then 20 minutes, and the park seemed to be fairly crowded. Rides I would hit early if I were you would be Flight of Fear, Face/Off and Tomb Raider as those rides seemed to get the longest lines.

Thanks. But on the website it says that in october, april, and may it is usaually empty and they suggest you to go on those days so its not as crowded in summer. So my main question is how are the lines during october there?

But 20 minutes is really good. Flight of fear and face off look really good. Is beast usually a walk on? And is it any good?

But me and Dave tend to disagree. Beast is the best wooden rollercoaster I have ever ridden. Ride it in the daytime, then ride it at night. 2 different experiences. Awesome ride.

Beast continues it's positive reputation due to it's significance in the coaster industry.

It broke records and continues to be the longest woodie in the world today.

I find the coaster good only under certain conditions and that is when it's dark. It has absolutely no airtime but the speed and out of control feeling through the woods and tunnels makes it a decent ride.

As far as overall good woodie, I would say no.

Yeah from the pictures it looks like it has no airtime. But out of control is good through the woods and tunnels. I can't wait to do front row at night. But my dad is being weird about the whole trip now. He's like why would i got in october when i can go when it's nice out in the middle of the summer. I realized today why the gp is so stupid and goes on the busiest days of the year. I think i can get him to do it though. Last year my grades were mostly B's and i have mostly A's now so i'll say that i get good grades because i look forward to coasters or something stupid like that.

Yeah but i would rather get short lines in october than big lines in the summer.

The lines don't get very big there, I was there on one of there busyer days and it was fine, in the summer most of the people go to the water park.

1.) As stated, most ride lines move fast. Capacity is pretty good on most coasters. A full que on Vortex wil be no longer than half an hour if it's running three trains.

2.) Ride Drop Zone!!!!

3.) Beast is single handedly my favorite coaster. From beginning to end it is one of the most out of control ride out there.

4.) Ride in a non wheeled seat for SOB, and don't pass up Vortex and give Top Gun a whirl, it's more fun than it looks(despite being about 15 secs long.)

5.) Just my opinion, but Racer Forwards is terribly rough, and Racer Backwards is awesome!

6.) Fear Fest, from what I'm told from my relatives in Cincinnati, gets kind of on the crowded side. It is full of families during the day, and then full of younger people at night when they bring out the real scary stuff.

While the coaster collection at PKI isn't up to the standards of SFGAm or CP, this park provides a total package for a park goer.

They have decent coasters, decent flats, the best damn kids area known to man, a good size waterpark included with admission, and good theming sporadically placed(including some rides like Tomb Raider).

Im going on the 10th so I will give you a detailed trip report and a thurough comparison between fright fest and fear fest. I will seperate details about the houses from the rest of the trip report so you know not to read too far into it if you want to see them for yourself.

As far as fearfest goes, I hear a lot of mixed fellings about it. The year it debued (spelling) it was extremely popular and had 6 haunted houses, and was geared directly towards teens. The props were freakier then your crappy kid friendly decorations at cp. They also had a maze on the top of the observation tower. Ive also heard that last years sucked and there were hardly any decorations. This year they have 8 houses that I am really looking forward to, and they are all 15 minutes long. They have a maze, a path in the woods, a 3d clown house, a friday the 13th house, a mummy house, a maus style house, and a sleepy hollow house. Check out the site: http://www.pki.com . I saw on pki fan sites that they have really raised the bar from last year with 3 new houses, way more decorations, and scareactors on the midways. I cant wait to go and tell yall the pros and cons about fearfest and how it compares with fright fest at gam.

Let's not cut PKI short just because they don't have any Beemers. The Beast isn't a airtime machine but, it was never meant to be. Half the reason I like it is beacause it is so long. Most coasters are over before you have time to think about it.

Kings Island is a an excellent park, I went there twice this year, and i had a blast each time. PKI in my honest opinion is Second to only Great America as my favorite park.
