Aug 22/Supervisor Giving Me The News

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Ilovthevu' on August 22nd, 2004, 10:53 pm
It was quite packed today. However, they weren't using the overlot, and later they opened the pay parking to everyone. The first thing I did today was D Vu twice, and it was awesome to the extreme. They were about an hour wait each.

Since I can't really remember the order, I just tell you what I think I did next. Probably the next thing I did was go on Triple Play because this year I havn't been on it during the day. It had a short wait, and was still an awesome ride. Next was BTR. No spiel during the day, but once at night. All 4 times were great during the full day. During the actual day, about 1:00, it was about an hour wait, and later at 9:00, down to 5 or no minutes.

I saw that East River Crawler is being worked, or they are taking it down. They had a fork lift over there, and a scaffoldin. After BTR, it was Whirlgig, and was a good ride. I did Condor during the day, but it also closed at night. IMS is pretty much done for the season with the water taking out. After Whirlgig, Roaring Rapids took about an hour. They really needed more boats. They only had four. I wasn't that wet.

Stargate looked to be closed for the day. They have newer sign on it. If you noticed this two months ago, I'm sorry for telling you this now. We went to lunch, and went on Sky Trek Tower. This is when I heard from a supervisor about the waterpark. If you never believed Ron/Wolf, you should. The back parking lot will be repaved while the waterpark will be in back of Viper. The train guy was working the ride, and he was shocked that they are getting a waterpark. She also, said it will cost about 35 million, and it will be extra admission.

After that, I went on Triple Play again, and The Orbit. Next was IW, Fiddler's Fling, and Revolution The Ride (The sign says Revolution The Ride so that's for DejaVu The Ride. LOL) which broke down. It smelled like it was burning. The reason for this is because the tires weren't going with the ride. This was near the end of the ride. At that point D Vu wasn't running anymore. Around the same time Fiddler's Fling was broke, and Am E red was stuck.

I also had Demon, V2, more IW, more Triple Play, Chubasco, SUF, and Ricochet. Also, I never saw a big hole (small holes) in the back parking lot, and I didin't see new parts by Shockwave.

And the lemon chill guy says we're getting a wave pool that makes 50 foot tsunamie waves.

I wait to hear the official information.

That stuff shouldn't come as a total shock to any of us. We knew we were getting a waterpark, we knew it was costing 35 mil., and we had a feeling that it was going around Viper.

It looked like they were doing some work to one of the arms. I doubt theyre taking it down.

Who knows? They surprised me with the Triple Play, and East River Crawler removals last year, and a couple years ago.

Those rides weren't removed.(As I know you know). East River Crawler is a very popular flat ride, and it is not going anywhere. Is that what you were implying? Or did you mean another rehab? It's just closed probably due to staffing, then they are upkeeping it since they have a chance(or they really needed to replace something.

I think it was Sunday, I walked by around 1:00, and there were a few mechanics in the ride area. One was holding a big thick book(ride manual maybe?). They would look at the book, then look at the ride and point to certain parts on the ride, then look back at the book.

That's what I was implying, removal for rehab. How old did the book look like? Hopefully, it wasn't the original book that came with the ride.

Why not? That book was probably written by Anton himself. (That was who manufactured ERC right?)

I don't think It would be going through extensive rehab again. It was rehabed for '03 wasn't it? They seem to pick a different (older) flat each year to overhaul. I know in the recent past they did Orbit, Crawler, and Triple Play. Hopefully this winter will be Hometown Fun Machine.

I didn't see if the book looked old, but it was pretty darn thick.

That what I was thinking Mr.SfGam! I was thinking which ride would go through one this year and HTFM was the first one that came to mind.

I actually think differently. Fiddler's Fling would be my choice for rehab.

At first, I thought so too, but then I kind of thought that Fiddler still runs pretty well. It probably has been a while since it's seen rehab though.

It's funny that you should say that because yesterday it broke down.

Condor could use a nice little touchup, that would be a tad bit pricy though....

As much as I like new flats, Fiddlers and ERC ain't goin' nowhere. These rides are too popular to join the deteriorating Sky Whirl cages. And I would say the same for the tall green and blue structure which replaced the triple-arm ferris wheel and haybaler, despite how much it breaks down.

I wish they said the same for Shockwave. While I really like the pretzel loop, the rest is nothing special.

I used to call Revolution a real thriller until I heard of Delirium.

When construction for this new waterpark breaks ground, the buses could be moved to the preferred parking zone and the RV lot reserved for special RV parking stickers.
R.I.P. Splashwater Falls and Space Shuttle America. Deja Vu, enjoy Idaho.

HTFM was refurbed back in like 00/01, it's in spectacular shape (it had a serious machanical problem a few years ago and since then they choose to a. not have sudden accelerations b. not run it at full speed and C. not have fast deceleration all as to prevent that problem from happening again (that sound of stuff rattling around inside the car is normal, all Scramblers do that)

I think if they refurb anything it will be Fiddlers Fling, that needs it quite badly. Condor could use one also, though what it really needs is a paintjob on the tower.

Also the original manual for East River Crawler is written in German, and it toured the German Fairs before Marriott bought it. Though I'm sure SFGAm has a translated version :)

Even though I forgot to say it, Ricochet is dying. I've been on it for so many years even on the Big Top, and this year was the worst. It's not working right. Also, Triple Play's red arm still goes up a little weird, but that's fun for me. I thought Fiddler's Fling because they painted the bars yellow, and my guess is thay will probably do the rest of the ride next year.

There's no way they should have to refurbish ERC again. They just did it a year or so ago, so maybe they are trying to fix a part or something becuase I doubt you can even order parts for that ride anymore.

I hope Fiddler's goes in this season. From what I remember, it makes a lot of noise starting up. Possibly start doing some SWT flats becuase they will be most likely due for a clean-up within a few years.

As for the waterpark, it doesn't suprise me if you end up paying an extra admission cost for it. You can't tell me they will spend $35 mil. and still only charge $42 for a daily ticket for both together and $99 for a season pass for the year.

Remember sf is still in debt, and they are making additions to try and get money back. They would almost have to charge extra admissions if they want that to happen.

I went to the park on sunday, and he thinks that all the stuff in the overflow lot is just for a new parking lot. Why would they be moving the go carts then. And it will be connected, otherwise they wouldnt take out the go carts. I doubt they will charge people 30 $ Not alot of people will go there if its not connected.

All i have to say is just wait untill more information comes out.
