2003 Attendance: Why Is WDW MK #1?

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

I found this website that has the attendances of parks for the 2003 season.
:D :D Amusement Business has a better one, but I don't want Acrobat Reader installed on my computer.

I find it surpising that CP isn't that close to the top. After finding out that Animal Kingdom was 7.3 million, I wanted to see were MM, SFGAdv, CP, SFOG, SFStL, and SFGAm stood for last year.

do you understand the fact that AK and all the other parks in Florida are open year-round while all the midwest parks aren't? That's the main reason the attendance figures are what they are.

Not to mention many people stay at Disney resorts and get passes for each park.

You are still paying for the park through the resort though.

Let's take that into consideration mschulz5. Before someone said that SFGAm had somewhere around 2 million plus people. It's open 6 months. So if you double that, this would turn out to 4, or 5 million. CP, I heard was 3.3 million and if you double that, that would be 6.6 million of course. However, I don't know how many months CP is open. It might be open in April also, I don't know. So, maybe 7 months. Basically, WDW is still whipping other parks butts by a lot.

Cedar Point is open from May-October and has even less operating days than SFgam does.

Don't even start to compare anything in WDW with SFGAm, especially attendance.

The way I look at WDW is this, if Magic Kingdom would have never opened, there's no way it would be on top. Let's say that Disney Studios (MGM) was the first park to open, I don't believe that park is the real reason why people go to WDW. in my opinion Magic Kingdom is the best park there, and so did most of the people. That park was nuts everyday I went there. The other three were pretty dead.

...Just like at Disneyland Resort.
Also I agree to Magic being the best park there, normally when I go I visit 2-3 parks regardless one of them is always Magic Kingdom.....while the park may be one giant bottleneck it's rather nice in the morning ;).

Ilovthevu' has a point. When people talk about WDW, they automaically think of MK. I know I do. I guess "word of mouth" has a thing to do with park attendance anywhere...

I heard that WDW is closed because of the hurricane. I feel sorry for all the people, but my question is how will they protect the rides from flood waters if it does hit there. If it does come through, there's going to be a lot of damge to the park. The only thing I can think of is boarding up rides such as Snow White, and Peter Pan.

Floodwaters? Are you talking about the storm surge of flooding from the heavy rains? I rains almost every day in Florida during the summer, and the park hasnt sank yet. The areas of the park you walk on are actually the second story. There is a whole maze of backstage areas underneath the entire park.
