Fav Ride.... Steel? Wooden? Flat? Overall

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby Ilovthevu' on June 13th, 2004, 1:55 pm
I was wondering what your favorite ride is for each and an overall of all of them. Here's mine.

Steel - De'ja' Vu at SFGAM because of it's ability to make me say WOW. It is like nothing else I've been on.

Wooden - Screamin' Eagle at SFStL because of it's speed, a lot of drops, and the fact that it doesn't waste my time on a big helix like the American Eagle (what a bore) at SFGAM.

Flat - Without a doubt, my favorite flat has to be the Predator (Windy City Amusements), Typhoon (All Around Amusements), or the Orbitor (Astro Amusements). These are practically the same ride.

UPDATE: Typhoon is not at All Around Amusements anymore. They sold it and bought the Kamikaze.

This ride is awesome due to it's use of centifugal force. It spins you 360 degrees while up in the air without going upside down. It also has a great lightshow considering that it is a carnival ride. I only wish SFGAM could pick this ride up.

Overall - I would have to pick the flat just because. When this ride came by me through All Around Amusements, I bought a MegaPass in which you can ride the rides all the time the carnival was open. Too bad they only let me on three times in a row. I would've stayed on that ride all night and day if I could've. Let me just say that I went on it a lot that weekend.

Keep them replies coming.

Steel - Top Thrill Dragster because the speed, height and forces are amazing and it is a great experience.

Wooden - Viper at SFGAm because it has amazing airtime and a great layout.

Flat - Power Tower (red) at Cedar Point because it has a nice view and the launch feels cool, with a nice little pop of air time.

Overall - Top Thrill Dragster

Steel - Its a tough call. I think I'll say Nitro at Great Adventure. Its like Raging Bull, but even better.

Wood- Phoenix at Knoebells. Three reasons why. Air time...air time...air time.

Flat - Without a doubt. Delirum at PKI. I wish the ride cycle was longer. It is an awesome ride.

Overall I guess I would say Phoenix.

Fairly cool post here...

Fav Steel Coaster is either SROS @ SFNE or Expedetion GeForce over at Holiday Park in Germany, both are rides that leave you breathless, spectacular airtime and neverending barrage of forces.

Fav Wood: Raven at Holiday World, anyone who's ridden back seat when it's dark knows what I'm talking about. Other honorable mentions are Colossos at Heide Park, HW Legend and Dollywood Thunderhead(my #2 in fact since this is all pretty far out of order) :)

Fav Flat: This is a hard one Zipper I think for me is still on top, with extreme close runner up's being Mondial Top Scan, KMG Tango, KMG Afterburner, Mondial Shake, Top Fun Spin Ball, Fabbri Booster, Nauta Bussink Giant Evolution and there are a few others making it impossibly hard to choose a favorite.

Fav overall ride, all time favorite would be SFGAm's Sky Whirl, I'd take a ride on that over any Coaster, Flat Ride or other ferris wheel on earth.
Favorite Wood Coasters: The Voyage, Ravine Flyer II, Thunderhead, Balder
Favorite Steel: Voltron Nevera, Steel Vengeance, Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping
Parks visited: 232, Coasters Ridden: Steel: 894, Wood: 179, Total: 1073

Steel: Incredible Hulk

Wooden: American Eagle because of the speed, first drop, ride length, and the backwards effect.

Flat: Giant Drop (if it counts)

Overall: Incredible Hulk

Steel: Nemesis. Most incredible layout, theming, near misses, ans ride I've ever ridden.

Wood: Raven. FParker, I read ya loud and clear, back row at night. 8)

Favorite Flat: S.H.I.T. The double inverter at Alton Towers. That thing is the sh*t.

Overal: Kraken. That is one pimped out floorless. LOL

Out of 301 coasters...

Fav Steel: SROS at SFNE for same reasons as FParker185

Fav Wood: Thunderhead, out of control, endless speed, great airtime mixed with other forces. Legend and Raven at HW #2 and 3

Fav Flat: I guess ill go with the Zipper here. Still the most frightening flat to go on (did the smoking drunk who put it together do it right?)

Fav overall: SROS @ SFNE, it is gonna take one hell of a ride to break this coasters impression on me.

Steel - Superman Ride of Steel - SFNE
Wood - Beast
Flat - Delirium
Overall - S:RoS! Anyone that has been on that coaster, unless they are a naysayer, is going to say it's the best in the world and it doesn't matter what is built, nothing can be better.

Favorite Steel: Magnum XL-200

Favorite Woodie: Viper

Favorite flats: I really really love flats and I have four favorites...

I really love chaos http://www.flatrides.com/Ride%20Index%2 ... chaos.html
except sometimes it's really slow and it sucks, but when it's fast it rules.

I haven't been on contact http://www.flatrides.com/Ride%20Index%2 ... ntact.html
in a really really long time because the last time one similar to it was at my state fair was more than 4 years ago.

http://www.flatrides.com/Ride%20Index%2 ... shake.html Not much to say about that, it's just really insane.

http://www.flatrides.com/Ride%20Index%2 ... pscan.html
That one might be my ultimate favorite.

I prefer flat rides over most roller coasters, but I can't ride flats as much as coasters over and over again because flats make me sick.

Steel - Top Thrill Dragster. Fastest and Tallest in the world, you can't argue with that. (If it were a long ride it would be unstoppable.)

Wooden - Viper. The air time is great!

Flat - Power Tower Red Side - A great launch with a great view. I'll never get tired of it!

Overall- Definitely TTD.

Steel - X at SFMM, only coaster I would ever wait 3 hours for twice.

Wood - Cornball Express at Indiana Beach, still haven't found a wooden coaster that's even near as fun as this one. I get to ride Raven and Legend this summer so maybe they will change my mind.

Flat -Texas Twister (SFWoA's TopSpin) I thought this ride was great and it was my first top spin. I just hope one day King Chaos will run a program close to what this one runs (not sure if GL changed it).

Overall - X at SFMM

Steel: Raging Bull; it's that first drop that gets me every time!

Wood: The Beast; can't explain it, it just is.

Flat: Call me old fashioned, but The Orbit. I just love the enterprises.

Overall: The Beast; At nighttime, it isn't even a ride anymore. It's an experience. That double helix is what got me into coasters so much.
Finally Coaster Season!!
