I remember hearing it was, because I started a thread a few weeks ago, and if I can remember, it was announced that it would be backwards again. I would check just to make sure.
But get to the park early in the season if you want to be sure to get a ride on it backwards. Just like last year there are rumors that it might not stay that way all season.
That sucks, I was getting the vibe that it was very popular and everyone likes it backwards. I really thought it was a lot better backwards. Why would they change it?!
That was just a rumor! It didn't happen last year, so it probably won't happen this year. Some crazy person probably just said that one time so that he would sound cool, and then people probably believed him. It's just a rumor.
Also realize that last years backwards blue was the first time that they ran one side backwards the whole season. Another thing to note is that they have decided to go a second season in a row with the backwards side.My conclusion: I think they plan on keeping one side of Eagle backwards permanently. Just my opinion but it does look like its heading that way.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
I hope it stays backwards permanently, it being backwards gives both sides a uniqueness. I used to usually only ride Red side when they both ran frontwards but last year for the first time I rode both Blue and Red side everyday I was there when they were both open.
I hope they keep the blue side backwards!!In the man years I hae been to SFGAM, I have NEVER ridden the Blue Side. When the ride first opened, they did a lot more with "racing" both sides of the track. They haven't done that a lot these days. I'm sure that now both sides are running, they do that more often?Another question that has been thrown around by many people. Please don't get mad at me if you are annoyed at me:Does SFGAM consider ae two different wooden coasters? I've heard the two helixes don't line up or something like that....
I haven't been on AE when it was racing since 97 or 98. I wish they would race it makes it a better ride.Answer to your auestion no AE is considered one coaster not two and yes the helixs don't line up exactly but its still one coaster.
SFGAm counts Eagle as two and so do I. (Thats how they add up to 12 when they advertise 12 coasters) The rides are the same until the exit of the Helix when it splits up. And about the racing, its really luck wheater you race or not. Last season they raced it more than they have in past years.
Wow, funny how that works for coaster counts. So hypothetically SFMM could have 2 coasters out of their racing coaster (Colossus?) if they were a little bit more different. Or CP out of Gemini? That's pretty crazy, but I do have to agree. Two different rides... one station... I guess it would have to be two coasters.
Over summer whenever i went on ae it was racing, i guess i am just lucky? but it was cool going backwards and racing the red train forwards, it was kinda like twoface where you can see into the faces of the riders. other than the fact that they were on a different track then us....get what i mean?

Yeah I think I went on it 2 or 3 times when it was racing. The first time I was on the red side, the second time I was on the blue side. I can't remember if there was a third time, but if there was I was on the blue side.
It was cool, Most of the time last year if you asked the ops to race they would. That makes the ride alot more fun when you can yell and talk crap to people on the other side when they are beating you and the other side gets stuck on the BR before the final helix. good times!
