Let us know how your day at the park was.

Opening Day 2004! It's Playtime!

Weather: around 45-53 degrees throughout the day. Mostly coudly, light rain, and a little sun around 6.

Closed Rides: Loggers Run, Whirligig, Triple Play, Mardi Gras.

I got dropped off at the drop off zone and ran to the gate. I had my season pass ticket and my friends had coke cans. We get in line and an employee came over and asked one of my friend's a lot of questions.(name, address, and how many visits in last 2 years.) Kind of random. There are new admission signs with the old man in the commercials. They started letting people in at 9:30 and didn't take long. It looked like they had new scanners at the gates. Got throught metal detectors and ran over to the corner of the plaza which was blocked off by employees. We waited til ten when they started playing "We like to party" and Bugs, Daffy, Longhorn, and others came over to dance in front of the carousel. Then there was a big explosion and streamers everywhere. I got chills. Something funny for people waiting at this corner(near Stargate). Can everyone take 3 BIG steps back.(or 2) At 10:03, an employee started walking an anxious crowd until we could make a dash to raging bull. I had to half jog because of my friends. We still made first train.

Raging Bull: There were 3 trains on the track but the teal one was running empty cycles.Right on and off on the 7th row. Great ride with only minor trims. 9/10

Giant Drop: New spots for shading with wood up but no shades. All 6 sides workable. No wait. Fun as usual. 7/10

Viper: Big disappointment. New shading in entrance path and exit path(in 1 or 2 places.) Then we get near the station and see new wood added to the station(i think) for of a theming touch.) Get in there and no wait. I see the seatbelts. Cool. Then get on and go. The lift hill sped up the hill and didn't slow at the top. Wow, that never happened before. Then we started and I noticed tons of new beams and wood added or replaced. Wood was taken away and Headchoppers weren't as noticeable as before. When we exited we saw piles of more wood and a small section of concrete for possilbe storage, food shop, or an ride photo? 7/10

Next was Demon. Black train nowhere on site. Paint job is nice but the turn right before the corkscrews was not finished. 6/10

County fair was repaved and we then saw new hammer games for the strength thingies.

Revoultion. Looked good. There were 5 ride-ops(probably for training). Ride had about 5 or 6 straight lines of queue and the ride looked stunning. It was a blast and I felt great after it. 9/10 Decent loading times and looked to be popular. 9/10

Eagle. Both sides operating at the time and rode both walk-on. Paint at the station looked great and the floor was also redone. The ride was sadly not racing. They started painting the rides rails red near the station, but who knows what they were doing. There were only light trims before the final helix.

Iron Wolf. 10 minutes front row. 7/10. Could see shockwave and ragin cajun track and supports.

Batman: Paint looked great and the police car and hydrant with water coming out were there. Ride ran great and there were also new lights in front of the fan in the tunnel. Walk-on. 10/10

Walked by mardi gras and noticed Ragin Cajun's station was started and the brakes and turn around with a few small hills completed. Balloon ride structurally completed. Jester was completed with a queue line. The ride looks really small. New shop called Crystal Palace. Games were themed to Mardi Gras. King Chaos looks great with ride op booth sitting out front. The whole section was repaved now. Streamers could be seen all over Orleans Place with Mardi Gras Colors.

Superman: Walk-on. Ran Great 10/10. Looks like fastlane will be used this year.

Whizzer: Ok ride. Walk-on. 5/10. 1 car of 3rd train on site.

Pictorium: Top Speed. Pretty cool. Never seen an imax before this one. Nice theatre. Saw a season pass line. In the film they also had short clips of Collosus and Revolution at SFMM. Funny.

Stargate. Walk-on. It was kind of cool. Better than SSA but worse than Dino Island. Sound stopped for a second because of someone with a cell phone. 8/10

Sky Trek: Neat and cool. The recording talked about SfGam being one of the roller coaster capitals of the world. It talked about each coaster and new ride and described it briefly.

Got Season pass processed. It was quick for me. Got coupon book in there.
It includes: after Dark event, Early theater entrance, the normal stuff, &$ off for freinds every day, parade trolley coupons, fastlane buy 2 1 free, frind for free and half price days throughout the summer and fright fest, 1/2 priced funnel cake, $1 off from Bayou grill and Borbon Street Cafe, $2 off Firehouse, 25% camp cartoon, Peabodys and select merchandise and morphables or crystal palace(new stores), discount on spacelys on ride photo, 15% off flags photo, discounts on Dare Devil Dive, games discounts, and others.

V2: No swaying at all. Almost walk-on. great! 10/10. Ran at full power.

DejaVu: opened at 4 after testing most of afternoon. Waited 45 minutes for front row. 10/10. Excellent.

Other rides- more Viper, 3 more Raging Bull, 4 more Demon, Revolution, 1 more Iron Wolf, 1 more V2(front), 3 more Batman(1 in front), Superman 2 more itmes after long breakdown. Got a re-ride for last ride right then it broke down. I talked to ride ops. They were nice. The ride opened and we got last ride of night after meeting many friends at the park.

Other notes: All garbage cans have the six flags logo now.
No more American Eagle photo. Whole thing is cleared out. New screens for all orp's. Flat screen. Plus new things like a snow globe thing for photos. The Raging Bull photo even had an automated speil! New things all painted up, like the pictorium. Plus no additional theming for stargate. Many things looked like they will be added. And saw people taking videos of DejaVu( I had an idea who it was. Probably someone from here)

Left at 8:30 to an empty parking lot. It was a great day. We had a blast. Now 6 months later, the park has a new life. Visit the park and enjoy all the playtime you deserve. Only one thing could have made the day better. Well 2. Sun and the old man from the commercials dancing! Thanks for reading.

Be sure to read the front of the Coupon Book, too. It says $7 off up to 4 general admission tickets each day just by presenting your Season Pass any day. Also, all theaters now have season pass lines which are let in sooner than the regular lines so you can get better seats. It also talks about CAD, and you must be in the park 30 before the regular closing times.

I also must add that I saw probably the most out of place mardi gras parade ever. It had a hearse, different kind of cars and stuff, a scooby doo mystery machine, jugglers, and other crazy things. They also had jesters walking around orleans place talking to guests and 1 was holding a yo-yo. I also saw george jetson and then other looney toon characters around. Also Bayou Grill still has the old orleans grill sign up. I also noticed a new Batman auto speil and iron wold had an op doing the speil.

I just want to point out that crystal palace is not new. It replaced rue royale clothiers a few years ago.

Nice tr. I'm mad i missed both mardi gras parades though, i love those. I also would kind of liked to have seen Six Flags Party. Usually the outdoor shows are pretty good in my opinoin.

Correcting again,
Rue Royal Clothiers was where Frenchies is. Crystal Palace used to be Mostly Marvin.
