Someone posted on the Park Fans website that Great America withdrew the permit and the thread is now labeled as cancelled.

Always comes down to money, and solar panels have been sky-rocketing in price.

It was a neat idea, at least.

Thanks for the info! I had a feeling the project was scrapped due to costs.

Speaking of money. I still believe that the kids' area was scrapped in favor of last-minute relocations from Six Flags America, which will drastically reduce CAPEX costs and allow them to put that money towards a giga.

This is all speculation on my behalf, but I did a photoshop of the Go kart area and several rides from Six Flags America, and they fit perfect.

It didn't make much sense building a whole new kids area in the go kart plot, when they could simply close Kidzoplois, move some of those rides to Camp cartoon and give it a bug's bunny retheme and have one really nice kids' area

The Skyscreamer is probably better in county fair tbh
Old Great America was better, however I hope just a bit of that charm comes back

Do you think we're getting a SkyScreamer?

@CoasterRiderSC Thanks! Been a huge Great America fan my whole life, so I'm glad to found this!

I've wanted us to get a SkyScreamer—honestly, that's what I was hoping would replace the Dare Devil Drop. So that would be great to finally get one.

After seeing the sad state Ragin Cajun was in at America I really don't want it back. Some cars weren't spinning or unlocking and it needs a repaint severely.

I'd much rather have a spinning coaster than TDK though.

I'm not sure how, but even with less elements, Millennium Force is leagues ahead of Bull for me. Wouldn't mind if we got a SkyScreamer though as the one at SFStL is the second-best flat ride I've ridden behind TMNT Shell Shock at MOA. Honestly, as long as we don't get a Flying Theater or something on its last legs, I don't really care what we receive.

When I went in August my Cajun car flew and then spun like a top. It looked like crap, but ran better than it ever did at SFGAm.

I'd welcome it back, but not without asking the same question as 2008: why do we need a second mouse?

We don’t. The ride would most likely go somewhere else. If the park wanted to keep it they wouldn’t have gotten rid of it in the first place.

It would be so funny if they just removed Joker for it lmao

I was a personally a fan of Ragin Cajun. I thought it was a really good coaster for the whole family that offered a unique experience from Dark Knight because it spun.

I would be very happy to see it return to Great America.

As far as the Sky screamer goes. In my opinion, Great America is pretty much the only park it can be relocated to. It lacks the bracing needed for Californias safety standards which rules out Magic Mountain. and there's no way they would waste capital like that on one of the smaller, less profitable parks, which are likely to be sold off in the near future.

Indiana Beach just announced a new modern Rotor ride. The park is definitely lacking one since Cajun Cliffhanger left. Not sure if they would bring one back after the accident but I’d welcome it.

Don't forget Cedar Fair management is in charge and they have killed many arrows the last few years.

I'm actually shocked Corkscrew at Cedar Point is still operating, probably because it would be a nightmare to replace. Even the locals hate that thing.

If the flumes go they better be replaced by a bigger flume

I doubt they would replace the flumes with another water ride. Too many people needed to staff the ride and it's only open a few months out of the year.

Looking at the success that Cedar point has had. They would probably put a custom tilt coaster in that plot of land and use V2's front spike as a head chopper element.

The flume plot isn't massive, but it's large enough to fit an epic tilt coaster without touching V2 or the picnic grove. I haven't had the chance to ride Sirens Curse yet, but I know several people who have and they raved about it.

You do realize that even in the peak season (summer) these rides are still popular and get long waits

Fox, you have to start thinking like a businessman instead of getting all emotional over Marriott nostalgia.

Corporate has made it crystal-clear, large-scale thrill rides have the greatest ROI. It's not family rides, it's not kids rides, it's not water rides. This company needs to boost attendance because it has a tremendous amount of debt.

Great America is currently pulling in about 3 million guests a year, if they could get that number up to 4 million and each guest spends $100 per season. That's an extra $100 million a year in revenue. Kids rides and log flumes aren't going to accomplish that. This isn't Disney, the customer base is completely different

The flumes are expensive to maintain, Cedar Fair has removed these rides throughout the chain because of maintenance and labor costs associated with them and there has been no pushback from the general public.

If they decide to RMC Eagle, yeah, I wouldn't like it. But if it reduces maintenance costs and draws more people into the park. So be it. Emotions have nothing to do with business decisions

If they remove V2, I wouldn't like it. But if it becomes so costly to maintain that it is damaging the parks profitability, get rid of it.

Well they can’t even keep the new red paint on the station roof. If you look at the ride on Google Maps, you can already see the paint coming off. It’s gonna look awful really soon. Looks worse when you look at it from the flumes.

Was that paint job in house or contracted out? It really seems like they didn’t even bother to grind or sand the old paint off and just painted over the old stuff. Not sure how else it could look so bad already.

Yeah, they did a really bad job repainting that roof. That was typical of legacy Six Flags management, cutting every corner to save a few dollars and not thinking about the big picture long term.

That was obviously a quick photoshop I did of a tilt coaster. But that would look amazing. Having the coaster tilt at the same time V2 went up its spike.

Long waits doesn't necessarily imply popularity. It's hot, they want to cool off, so naturally people will flock to the water rides. Look at Joker or TDK, even with a half-filled queue, their lines are unbearably long and slow moving.

You could make the same argument the capacity is too low and that's why it's line is so long.

I've always thought the capacity was good for the flumes, probably would be be better if they filled the logs completely.
