That's what i consider "front gate", they may push it out even before you have to be scanned and get bag checked, but as far as i know, once you show your tickets and you're in Carousel Plaza, there's no smoking.
Today, I spoke with Six Flags about the smoking thing. She said that no smoking/vaping items will be allowed past the Security gate. I'm not sure I heard this part right, but I thought she said that you can only smoke around your car in the parking lot.

Great America? Well it does make more sense to catch people by security than by the ticket booth.
Old Great America was better, however I hope just a bit of that charm comes back

I'm torn between Coke Buildings and Beer Locations. I don't drink but I'm going based on Cedar Fair's love of more beer locations.
With the exception of the one by Hurricane Harbor, i think most will be left as they are because there's nothing much you can do with the small area by the Batman Restrooms or the Barber Shop Facade in County Fair.
The one by Hometown park will definitely become a viewing area for Rakshasa, or just a scenic spot in general just like what Disney did when they removed some of their smoking areas.

A lot of the smoking sections are random nooks that aren't much use. Maybe additional seating areas?
I'm actually bumming to see the elimination of smoking in the park. My brother is a disabled chain-smoker. We eventually agreed that it didn't make sense going to the park and then spending all day in the parking lot, so we cancelled his season passes today. And because we've been visiting the park as a duo since 2015, I'm not really interested in going without him, so I cancelled my season passes as well.

Oh, well, c'est la vie.
I guess in all fairness sometimes you have to give up the fun things in life to those you love.

Overall I'm happy for this policy. Maybe less headaches when I go to the park. Since my only remaining parent quit I have no tolerance for it anymore. I just get the nastiest headaches.
But in your situation I can tell you this won't be enforced and people will still be found smoking in the same areas they are used to.
Don't be surprised when they will be caught smoking in lines and nothing happens.

Well we have to wait and see how strict it will be, for all we know they could be more strict about it

When I initially spoke with Great America, they said that vapers were a problem, that they were vaping wherever and whenever. I actually don't see vapers that much, not even in the smoking sections, so I don't know if this is true. Weed smoking was also brought up as an issue, which I have seen.
Anyway, let's see if they can really terminate this behavior. It seems it'll be tough if you get people who light up, take a couple of puffs, then put it out right away.

As for the vapers, I was in the Sky Striker queue once and I saw somebody pull out a Juul. Considering the fact that Sky Striker's queue is just a bunch of thin switchbacks, I probably don't need to explain why this is a problem.

I saw vapers often, i saw someone pull out a vape while i was leaving Viper. Not fun
Also the smoking section by Batman always pissed me off like bruh, it's next to the bathroom and alot of people, especially kids go by it. I don't need to be reminded of Highschool man, or inhale that crap when i need to wait for someone by there. So glad it's being placed.

I've reported smokers and Line Jumpers to security and have had nothing come of it so I have no confidence anything will be done. The park has cameras everywhere so the park can't really hide behind the excuse of not being able prove it anymore.
One such jumper was at Sky Striker after they closed the line. Everyone in the queue was backing me up and corroborating my claim and still they weren't removed.

I confronted (Politely) a vaping teen in line for Raging Bull a few years ago! He eventually put it out after trying to pretend he didn't hear me. I was a cancer patient at the time and didn't want to be near that stuff!

The true test of how effective the smoking ban is going to be will come during Fright Fest. So many weed smells during that time frame. I think it’ll mostly be effective for respectful peeps.
There are gonna always be people who do it regardless of what the rules are. And it’ll be damn near impossible to enforce with the massive fog machines going.
Some more updates from the Electronics Department.
If anyone has more info on Q-SYS, I would love to hear, as I have no idea what it is. Nonetheless it sounds like an exciting addition.
Given the recent love to Batman, I was anticipating some work to be done with Dark Knight. Seems like it was an easy choice as it's indoors and easier to have similar upgrades. I have not been going to the park long enough to know if these are new and/or returning effects, I've never even been forced to stay in the preshow room. If anyone remembers Dark Knight with all it's effects, feel free to shed some light on there. John seems all in on refreshes like these (he mentioned in my interview and in the past they were looking into what to work on next) and they are most definitely welcome in my book.

Even if i think the ride sucks and it should go, i'm glad they gave it these effects, again it feels like this merger is really helping out with the presentation at Great America!

it sure is, I wish the park would should more updates like the others park do, but then again since we are getting closer to opening day they'll most likely show more updates in April.
TDK isn't on my list of things I'd want fixed or improved.
I'd love Goliath's music back, maybe one more speaker on X-Flight's lift so you could actually hear it at the top, lights and antenna back on X-Flight's tower, etc.
Also, Sky Striker's lights like to get stuck, hopefully that bug is worked out.

For all the years I’ve gone on Dark Knight I’ve never seen that pre show room actually used which has always confused me…but occasionally I’ve walked through the room while that lighting sequence happened so I know that they were still working but maybe they were in need of a replacement. I hope this means they start holding people in the pre show room.
I had not thought about this in YEARS until recently. Completely forgot about it, don't remember what it was like. A comeback would be great
Probably some Roman/Greek style music, tho i wouldn't be surprised if they ended up retheming Goliath to fit the County Fair area too like with the Goliath at Six Flags Fiesta Texas
