Wish List

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby aaron60060 on July 25th, 2016, 2:37 pm
My main complaint is that Six Flags has many rides with features that no longer work, or are now turned off for various reasons.

1. Cave waterfall on Roaring Rapids needs to be turned back on. Make the repairs to ensure ride integrity, then get it turned back on. Enough is enough.
2. Misters / jets on X-Flight have been off for a while.
3. Water bucket on Buccaneer Bay. Are you kididng me? This hasn't been on for 3 1/2 seasons.
4. Water features on the Demon, decaying caves, no update to lighting in tunnels.

These are little things, but they really add to the ride experience in each case. I understand that in some cases there are design flaws that cause water features to be turned off, but the fact is, these can be worked around, and SF has chosen to ignore them and pocketed the money instead. After visiting Cedar Point and seeing how beautiful everything in their park is, it was kind of jarring to come to SF and seeing all of the paint peeling and half assed efforts at ride maintenance.

After riding Mr. Freeze Reverse Blast this weekend at SFStL I think I'm going to add it to my wish list. I really enjoyed it and while it's not a full circuit launch coaster at least it would be better than V2.

Its not the greatest fit to get Mr freeze, but that ride would fit where bb is, but hometown park would be where the station and queue would lie

5) Sky Screamer
6) Giant frisbee ride
Single Day Ride Count Record

I think Six Flags really needs to get in on the Mack Rider game. I mean just look at what Mack has been building lately. Etc: Lost Gravity, Cobra's Curse, Pulasr and Lightning. That being said I think a Mack spinner or launch coaster(Blue Fire clone or custom layout) would be a great addition to our park. The only Mack coasters in the chain are the DKC's.

I want Six Flags to start adding Giga Coasters. It doesn't have to be a B&M or Intamin, either. Maybe an RMC Giga Trex? Whatevers the cheapest.

I think Six Flags will eventually start to build them. It's just a matter of when they want to and which parks can build one. I think we're going to see one by 2020. As for who gets the first giga, I think it will be between SFGADv, SFGAm and SFMM.

Six Flags is cheap, Giga Coasters are expensive, so I don't really expect to see one any time soon. I feel like we're moving into an era where they really push more "unique" coaster experiences (4D, VR, whatever is coming next) and less just about "it's really tall!".

That said, if they ever do build one, it's hard for me to imagine it being SFGAm. Management has just never shown any interest in making it a park that builds high things. We all know they can't go over the 310 of STT, but it's been 17 years since they've even gone over 200 feet. They had plenty of chances to put in a SkyScreamer at 250 or 300 feet and they never did. Maybe there are very good reasons for all of this, but it just feels like either the park doesn't feel very tall rides are necessary or they're worried they'd have problems getting Gurnee to approve them.

I really think IF, (which I do think is necessary in the future) SF builds any giga coasters, it will be from RMC & B&M. With that said, the only three parks as mentioned I see getting one is, SFMM, SFGAm & SFGAdv. I really think we will see one eventually. They're huge money makers but also a massive investment a park has to be willing to make.

Is it necessarily true that they're "huge money makers"? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'd just be interested in seeing some numbers on that. It probably raises attendance somewhat for a period, but I'd be skeptical that it's automatically a good idea for any park to add one.

Honestly I think SFGAm lacks in "tall" attractions for how popular the park is. I'm not automatically saying it has to be a Giga or coaster but think SFGAm could use a 200ft+ structure of any sort.

All six flags parks have a 20 million dollar budget for each years investment. But what if, one or two park every year gets to go over 20 million. It's kinda like cedar fair with b&m, only one park gets it, I could see that happening. Although, I really see it happening to SFGAm, SFMM, SFNE, SFOT and SFGAdv getting it more than SFGE, SFA and la ronde

#doublepost but what if mack comes in to build it? I see 2 main companies doing gigas and 1 possibility. RMC and mack. B&M being the possible company. I am making a giga in nl2 so check that out! In the games section

I do not have the official numbers but, would love to see them on gigas opening within the last 6yrs throughout CF. I know very little about 1305s opening year other than the year I worked at Cp, groups of us from CP to KI & VF even met up to ride it at KD in 2010. Sadly I was poor at the time & was pretty much the only person I knew not going so that sucked hardcore. Lol But you have to remember, back then it was the first giga built by Intamin & CF in a decade so it was a huge deal. Anyways...

What I do know is I've attended an event for the opening of Leviathan & simply visited Carowinds for Fury325 & will say not only were they obviously packed days but I know from talking to people in line, the crew, my friends who are employees & managers throughout CF that people travel great distances to ride these gigas. The Fury crew broke a ride record the day I was there & the ride had been open a month. When I visited CW, we went with people who came as far as England & Austrailia. Are these coaster freaks like us? Mostly all of them, duh. But it's the simple fact people world wide want to test out your new ride. & people all over my Facebook who arent fanatics were tagging me in posts about Fury325.

Again, no I do not have charts or attendance records but I know people come far & wide to ride a coaster of this caliber. I think it would do wonders for our park, making it a must visit park again. I see people post about wanting to visit us all the time because of Goliath & even XF. I can't imagine people would just be meh about a giga anywhere, let alone here.

People would be excited about a giga, but excitement doesn't necessarily lead to millions of extra dollars. The big theme park chains all exist entirely to make money, so if they had some evidence that a certain type of ride would do more of that, I suspect you'd see more of them. Instead, in the case of Six Flags, you mostly see mid-level stuff like SkyScreamers, Super Loops and Justice League rides. I'm sure these rides draw less (and get less media attention) than some world shattering coaster would, but considering the costs the return-on-investment is probably a lot higher.

We like to be unique compared to other six flags parks. Think of it, first 7 looping coaster (shockwave), first (and only) "z coaster" (Z-force), first b&m ever (iron wolf), first invert ever (batman) first six flags manufactured coaster (viper) first hyper twister coaster ever/first hyper in the chain (raging bull), first wing coaster/last b&m in the chain (X-Flight) and first ground up RMC in the chain (Goliath). And that's just the six flags era. In the Marriott era, basically all their coasters (except gulf coaster) were revolutionary at the time. So I can see SFGAm getting a giga first

We've had some unique things, sure, but if you think about it so have Magic Mountain and Great Adventure. And if they're going to build a giga coaster to make an impact in the whole chain, are they going to want to do it here where they can barely go over 300 feet or at a park where they can basically go as big as they want (even over 400 feet if they wanted)?

I also thought of this. We have height restrictions, but no speed restrictions!?! We could make something similar to formula rossa, Marke it the fastest in the USA or even the world

Honestly even tho I would love a giga here at SFGAm, I highly doubt it'll happen. We have absolutely no room for one unless we take out a bunch of rides. We can just barely get up to 300 ft. But I like the idea of a formula rossa style coaster, make it 130 mph and you could easily take the cake for fastest in the US, just beating Kingda Ka by 2 mph.

I think the first giga will go to Magic Mountain. It's their favorite park and the roller coaster capital of the world.

I'm thinking a giga will be MM's 20th coaster in the 2020 season, and they will advertise the "most coasters in one park" like crazy.

I've been toying with an idea and I want some feedback. You know Scooby Doo when they would get into a mine shaft and the goon would chase the gang, and they would get into a mine cart and somehow they would end up side by side? Well what if they some how brought that technology into a ride say you are sitting in a coaster 4 abreast all of a sudden you go through a tunnel and the train splits apart into 2 trains going through 2 different rides. Do you think it would be possible to pull something like this off? Or would it be an engineering nightmare? It seems like it would be incredibly simple, but somethimes the simplest things are the most complicated.
