Fright Fest 2015

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

When I went with a friend last year one of the costumed characters in County Fair ate one of my friend's fries out of his chicken wing meal.

It's the same question every year, but what's everyone's recommendations for the best weeks to go? I know the closer you get to Halloween the more ridiculously crowded it gets.

If you have flexibility, try and play the weather if you're looking to avoid crowds... 70 and clear will always be more crowded than 50 and wet... Oct. 2-4 would be your best bet... Anything after that runs the risk of ginormous crowds... Nov. 1st should also be somewhat light...

I just went through the Zombie Apocalypse thing that they have where Roaring Rapids is. I took a video of it and I'll put it up on YouTube later when I get home.
They are having a free preview from 5-8 today for it.

It was also the last time the park has a decent number of fog machines. 2005/2006 had to be the best years for FF fog was everywhere, it was one hell of a party!! I really wish they would bring back JPM, moving it in house did save money but at the cost of themeing/atmosphere.

You do realize those aren't fog machines, right? They're just misters so the weather plays a part on if the "fog" disapates slow or fast. Basically the same thing that was on X-Flight's yellowjacket keyhole. Cool and damp it lingers for a long time. Dry & warm it's gone almost immediately.

Hmm... I'm getting the sense that Great America is trying to follow in Universal's footsteps (Jack the clown).

If SFGAm would pay an absolute minimal amount of money they could get back at least the rights to Mayor Slayer. But if it costs more than $1.99 you can just count em out

How do you have any idea who owns the rights to different things or how much it would cost for the park to get them back?

Mayor Slayer was a JPM character who followed the company's move to Kenosha, WI when they introduced their haunted event at the Kemper Center following their time at SFGAm. Although Mayor Slayer was used at several other Six Flags theme parks for Fright Fest, I'm not completely sure if those parks also contracted through JPM Productions for their scareactors. I doubt that JPM has the Mayor Slayer character copyrighted, but it would be kinda tacky, in my opinion, to bring him back with a different actor playing the part considering the same actor was used throughout the life of Mayor Slayer at SFGAm.

Fright Fest looks like it's gonna be good this year! The new nox haunted house looks really interesting. The freakshow is back! The light show synced with the carousel will be a great new addition. Apocalypse Zombie Experience will be fun. And there's still the fright fest staples of Love at First Fright, Susan Rosen, Terror Twister, etc. I'm pumped
"Everyone, listen to me! These jerks killed Superboy. They've tried to kill us. Now they say they're going to tear this city apart. I say... like hell."

I really cannot wait for Fright Fest this year. With the new maze, the light show, and all of this cool new stuff, I just have to get there ASAP.

And no visit to Fright Fest is complete without a ride on Terror Twister II. Probably my favorite ride experience on anything.

Well this is my first post in like 4 years I always have still been browsing the board. It looks like the Boo Line is back according to the Fright Fest website! I felt that was post worthy, now if only it can be half as good as what it was in the late 90s. I'll be a happy man then.

Did you guys see the new GATES OF HELL haunted experience on the Fright Fest website? Looks super cool! Plus the clowns are moving to County Fair, the demons are moving to Mardi Gras, there will be vampires at Carousel Plaza, a new light show called Lightmosfear will be the largest synchronized LED show over the water in front of the carousel, the Boo Line will be an interactive scare actor train ride, Apocalypse (announced earlier) will be an interactive maze where you shoot zombies, werewolves are taking over Hometown Square, not to mention Nox is also taking over the uprising show AND he is the star in a new show, PLUS he is the main focus of the GATES OF HELL haunted attraction! Not to mention the witching hour, which is where all the monsters of the park get to roam free for the last hour of operation. This ON TOP OF normal fright fest PLUS hurricane harbor will most likely make it one of the, if not the best year of Fright Fest yet!!! CAN'T WAIT!!

Fright Fest seems to have some high expectations this year. But I don't know about you, this may just be me, but Fright Fest is just time to ride coasters for me :P I don't necessarily look forward to fright fest, I look forward to riding the rides more. Although I do like the music, and I like seeing others being harassed by the scare actors. They don't really mess with me, I think that's because I'm at least half a foot taller than majority of them. If anything, Fright Fest is a sad time for me because that means the season is almost over :'(. And sometimes, the weather can just get plain harsh. I've ridden Raging Bull in a light hail before, fun but painful.

Silly question to ask, but is Loggers Run and BB going to stay open during Fright Fest this year? I ask this because their ride status are normal operation, but Yankee Clipper and Roaring Rapids are both closed for the season. I though none of the water rides operate during FF. I guess I can't remember from last year if any were.

^ They will be closed during Fright Fest. The Ride Status hasn't been updated for Fright Fest quite yet because the park is open this weekend for private events.
