Scenic Railway Still Closed

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Since Goliath construction is complete, and most if not all cranes and other tools have been removed, why is the railway still closed? :?:

Goliath has a temporary queue that is set up in front of the train station and the line wraps around the station.

From what I've heard, that shouldn't affect the status. They can run it from Hometown to Hometown.

It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle :?
Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? :P

Did they ever repair the track they tore out during the Goliath construction?

Great America is currently in the process of repairing the track that was damaged during Goliath construction. There is a construction crew currently doing repairs to the track located next to the service road.

Looked fine from Goliath's Overflow Queue.

I know it does. I thought it was fine before they started work on it but I guess they must have found something wrong with it. They where digging up and replacing the wooden ties when I walked past on the service road this morning.

If you used to work there you can post all you want but if you currently work there it's best not to mention it.

Did they say whether it will use the County Fair Station or just the Hometown Square one?

It's good its reopening. It's one of the few true family rides in the park that everyone can ride regardless of height, motion tolerance etc. Hometown to Hometown is actually a better longer ride.

I have it on good authority that too many people put pennies on the tracks and it won't be reopening.

If you collect the penny after the train rolls by, Abraham Lincoln's face is replaced by Mr Six. Who could possibly resist that??

The tracks were damaged by ginormous cranes and trucks driving over them all winter/spring. I heard they covered the tracks with dirt to try and prevent damage, but apparently that didn't work too well.

I thought they did/ would've just removed the certain portion of tracks that would be needed to get the cranes and such though over the construction period. It's not like the Train was operating past FF.

Yep, the tracks were completely torn up during Goliath Construction and new track has since been laid down. I'd guess the park is choosing not to run the train for one reason or another.

Maybe they aren't running it because of the Goliath line since it wraps onto the boarding area of the train?

The tracks were not torn up, they were just covered by dirt to "protect" them.

During a construction tour I pretty clearly remember them being completely torn up through the construction site to about the middle of the train station.

All the tours I remember featured a great deal of snow, so not sure how one would see either way

The only thing that was actually removed were the gates that blocked the service road. (And by the gates, I mean the whole thing, not just the white/red part). I had to be back in there for something myself at one point, and they explained and I saw that the tracks were indeed still intact, just completely covered after I asked how hard it was to remove/add the tracks for that. So I can see why it would seem as if they were gone, I also thought they were at first.
It's not a big deal either way, but with them actually explaining it to me and also seeing it, I felt the need to say something.
