Goliath impact to crowds

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

When this does open, how will it affect crowds during the week. I realize weekends will be busy, but what about during the week? Will there be a huge surge of guests that first week? I plan on going mid week June 10 / 11 / or 12 and if it just happens to open the weekend prior will I be screwed? Going with some younger riders so we will stick to the 48 inch height rides and not riding Goliath. I was hoping Goliath would have been open a few weeks by then and now it may be right in the middle of opening week. For past ride openings does it cause huge waits for other areas of the park if you steer clear of the new ride?

seeing as ACE, TPR, CoasterForce, CoasterCrazy and several other sites are going nuts over Goliath. I'm expecting crowds similar to when Banshee at Kings Island opened. It's going to be pure madness.

I definately see a drain to AE as its the next closest coaster. Fiddler's might get a ridership boost due to the location of Goliath. Loggers may get a boost but from people getting off Goliath not from foot traffic actually going to LR. Expect crowded lined at food stalls near Goliath. I wouldn't be surprised to see full trains departing Hometown station and half empty trains returning for the next load. I am going by what I experienced on the Demon in 2012 and X Flight. Got a reride in after getting off and going through the line with no wait. In retrospect I should have gone another 4 times It was basically a walk on.

That portion of the midway is not very wide, so I expect that area to be a madhouse and a pain to walk through. On top of that, that part of the midway will be utilized with the spillout of the line.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Viper 88, are you saying Eagle might be busier due to Goliath, but Demon was LESS busy due to X-Flight?

It could go either way. For some reason AE opens around 11 (or used to), if Goliath opens with the park people will flock to it, possibly bypassing AE all together. If Goliath opens later people may decide to ride AE first then head towards Goliath. Though I strongly think AE will have less riders. DEMON was hardly busy when X Flight was opened.
