Sorry to bring this topic way back from the dead but I have a viewpoint. I think what makes an enthusiast is not the track record how much you ride somethin, but a certain level of respect for the industry and people that design and operate it. If you dont have respect like stated above you may as well just not go.

Maybe tomorrow (to late tonight), a while back someone posted to RRC or some other MSG board a Jeff Foxworthy ripoff of "If________ You might be a redneck" (though changed to coasters of course).

Ok, I lied, I got thinking about it and wanted to read, but I wont reformat it, was on RRC, this is like 30some posts merged together from the original post, but first things first.... :)

http://www.coasterville.com/purity.htm

I got something like 227(took it a few yearas ago), it's embarassing, but I'm not afraid to admit it, I just might be beyond professional help :)

On with You might be a coaster enthuiast....

1. You have pneumonia and hypothermia but it was well worth it to be a
professional swimmer and wear a soaked bathing suit to PPPP
2. You know how to pronounce Knobles
3. You have ever spent more than $500 to ride the kids coaster at
Playland in Rye, NY once
4. You know how to pronounce Gerstlauer, Giovanola, or GMbH
5. You own a HOnda Insight just to save money and use the money you
save to go to more amusement parks.
6. You say that basketballs in amusement parks are " a work of the
Devil"
7 You have bought a CAD program just to design a coaster
8 You think every bossiness should have a roller coaster and I mean
every store (K-Mart, Food Lion, a hot dog cart)
9 You know every thing in a parks history and I mean everything (number of guests in a park)
10. On your list of role models you have Ghandi and Abraham Lincoln after Summers, Dinn, Boliger, Malibard, Traver, and Allen
11. You have the inverted coaster above Styrofoam coolers, wheels, fire, and boats on your list of all time greatest human achievements.
12. People stop by your house and wonder what are the hours of operation
13. you have ever designed a coaster train b. You built it c. you tried to sell it. d. you actually sold it
14. You go to a high tech college and learn to make robots just so you can have a partner to ride the Thunderbolt with b. one of the eyes is a camera so when you have a ride op say you can not take a camera on you can and get away with it
15.you make a customized car that has four rows of seats, convertible, add rachet bars, seat belts, headrests, and dividers
16.You shift your car into neutral down a big hill and see if you can coast up
the next

Also, you might be a coaster enthusiast if:
-You put your hands up on an elevator
-The only calendar you own is your home park's operating calendar.
-Framed family pictures are replaced by ones of roller coasters.
-The only mythological creatures you are familiar with are Montu, Medusa, Kraken, Gwazi, Alpengeist, Goliath, and Batman
-Your knowledge of American history is from the Great America parks.
-You teach your dog tricks like "zero- g roll over" "LIM launch"

You can't look at an electrical cord without picturing coaster track and getting ideas for new inversions then adjusting the cord to fit your specifics.(insert: I admit it, I'm an extension cord fiend, always have been, favorite cord inversion: Cobra Roll)

if you get into debates with people, who for some reason had the audasity to question your knowledge of roller coasters.

When someone mentions a geographiocal area the first thing you can do to pinpoint the location is thinking what parks are nearby

When strangers recognize YOU from a Discovery channel program

When you don't bother taping movies or your favorite shows but when a coaster special is on you but a 10 pack and sit down with popcorn.

When you know who Paul Ruben is!

That's it. Fun read if anything else :)
Scary how many things listed I'm guily of, however I still havent riden the kiddie at Rye Playland :)

Out of that whole list, it figures I can relate to the stupidest one. I have done that with a vacum cord that was just laying around while I was bored one day at work. lol....so sad.

In 8th grade we had an assignment in science class. It was to make a roller coater layout out of foam pipeliner and to have a marble make it all the way to the end without falling out....

....Me and my friends all got 100 percent for having the best layout
Top 5 wood-5-Goliath 4-Ravine Flyer II 3-Phoenix 2-Voyage 1-El Toro
Top 5 Steel- 5-Velocicoaster 4- Maverick 3- Fury 325 2-Steel Vengeance 1-X2
Coaster Count: 444
