Does anyone know what determines what type of lift system is used for a ride? The speed as well? I have always been curious of this

A few things ie type of coaster, space allotment, inversions, its height in general, not to mention the preference of the coaster buyer. I am by no means an expert just going with well thought out guesses.

I would have to guess that the weight of the coaster trains has something to do with it as well.

most of the decision is based on $$$. Cable lift systems reduce the cost of the coaster surprisingly significantly. Of course it also depends on the manufacturer, most only offer one system.
