Season Meal is a Go for our Park!

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I am still hung up on how they can't even include parking on that Xtreme Pass. Food wise this would be a good deal if we didn't have to pay $65 for our pass, $75 for parking, $60 for food.

I mean if you go alot, no doubt, a good deal -- and you aren't limited to burgers and hot dogs. No drinks doesn't make much sense though..

I think some people are forgetting that this is a test program. Which means they carry the program out the way they intended to from their original concept and see how it works by the reaction of the guests. Then, they modify and tweak what they have or they throw it away all together and never do it again, or restructure it.

REad the first review about the Dining Pass at SFStL. For now you have to get voucher's and use the vouchers for the meals, but later in the year they should offer an option to just scan the pass at the location. Each location has a special menu for Dining Pass holders. It sounds like a fair enough variety, however I guess Mooseburger Lodge will not give you a cup of water, which I think would really suck.

http://www.negative-g.com/forum/viewtop ... 304#p30952

Can't say for sure I've ever eaten at SFStL though outside of catered events and I think once at the former McDonalds, it'd be hard for me to eat at SFStL with a Lions Choice right down the street. :D

For the Xtreme Pass, the way I see it is that for the picnics, that would probably be $45. The bottle is another $10, and tube rentals have to be at least $10. So, let's say you use a tube rental 3 times, and that would be $85. You still have $55 left to go. And than you have cheaper extra attractions which to me really should be free if you are paying almost $140 more for this pass. The rest deals with time - exit passes, doing the erts (which gives you more time), and time to get in the park faster. The last perk is really kind of stupid which is Bring a Friend for free, and the reason it's dumb is because you are paying more money for the perk in order to get your friend in for "free". This is unless you think that it's right that you are are paying an extra $55 for your friend and time perks. It is what it is. Get it, or just forget about it. I don't really care about it because a lot of the "perks" aren't something I'm willing to pay an extra $140 for.

No drinks and this food plan absolutely makes sense to me. The park is there to make money, and sure they can give you the deal for $60, and than that's all you would eat / drink, but they really want you every time you buy the meal, to buy a drink also. If you get 3 drinks a day, that's $3. It's still extra money to them plus the initial deposit of $10.

I really think with this plan, they except many season pass holders to only come about 3 times. I thought before Shapiro said that on average season pass holders only come 3-4 times. I could be wrong, but it seemed like that. So, with many season pass holders only coming 3 times and people paying $60 a person plus a drink bottle (if they do buy a bottle), it's almost like the people are breaking even compared to the other people that are going to use this plan a lot (enthusiasts in particular).

^That's the problem for Six Flags though, they will likely see this as a losing battle because they won't get the high volume of sales necessary to turn profit. Personally I see these passes not being purchased often except by those who frequent the park more than 8-10 times in a season, they will more than get their money's worth while most season pass holders will continue doing things as they normally do.

Sadly when the chain is already trying to give away the gate with attractive season pass offers and coupons on every coke can in a 3 state radius, they rely on those secondary profits to grow the business. This pass will send those profits in the wrong direction, even if its a minority of people who purchase.

Hence why they are only testing it in a couple of parks that have a history of profitability.

I like the idea of a rewards program - buy 5 meals get one free.
Top 5 wood-5-Goliath 4-Ravine Flyer II 3-Phoenix 2-Voyage 1-El Toro
Top 5 Steel- 5-Velocicoaster 4- Maverick 3- Fury 325 2-Steel Vengeance 1-X2

I found the program where each visit unlocked a new reward to be great. Its a shame they didn't continue with it!

^They probably didn't see an increase in park spending through the season passes, and they way they check if season pass holders are spending money in the park is through the discounts on merchandise / using those coupons in the book.

I'm hung up on the is meal pass. Can you buy just 1 meal pass and 2 people use it like my wife and I? Or do I have to buy 2 of these passes.

^I shared my meal with a friend last night. But my one experience wasn't the best. The chicken wrap was mostly lettuce. Where's the meat!? I got a heap of fries, covered in cheese. Good thing the cheese was hot because the fries sure weren't. Maybe next time.

I think eventually it will be "voucherless" and they'll just scan your pass and it will be tracked that way. This was something that was implemented without a lot of time to figure specifics....which will evolve as the season enters full swing (one would think...). But per your question, it meal pass belongs to the person who buys it. It doesn't transfer to anyone else.

I guess that still means you can buy one season meal thing and two people spilt each lunch and dinner meal if you are a light eaters....I'm not sure how much the meal is portion wise.

I think its a good deal if you go to the park a lot considering an average meal in our park is about $15 or less and that does not include a drink which on average costs at leasts $ 5thats why people always eat outside the park because its costs less they can get a whole meal for less than $9 which includes everything. Like some posters complained I think they should've at least added a small drink or maybe a bottled soda or water with the deal instead of carrying the water bottle all over the place if you included one in youre meal deal which will costs you an extra 10 bucks but you can get a refill for 99 cents all season. Profit wise I think its a good idea for SF it will keep guest in the park and theyll have extra money to spend on games merchandises etc but if they get a lot of complaints from crabby pass holders unsatisfied with the meal deal then theyll probly scrap the program.

I purchased this deal for my daughter and thought it was great. Usually leave the park for Burger King but got lunch and dinner. The corn dog was very good and the big plate of spaghetti was OK. Meatballs tasted OK but gave me heart burn. I kinda wish you could get a funnel cake, O well very happy with purchase will add to my pass next week.

I don't see how they could stop you from sharing your meal. Once you pick up your vouchers, you don't show your pass again, so after that she could, say, grab the meal while you got a table. But it WILL get "attached" to one of your season passes. Basically, they throw out your existing season pass, take a new photo at the processing center, and hand you a new season pass that says "Dining" on it.

Does Anyone know if there is any limitations on how many meals one can get per week/season, I live 5 min away, I can visit 3 to 4 times per week that's a lot of free food for me.

It's not free food. It's "included with price." Just like the waterpark they advertise so much (as free...)

^ I understand that I have to pay $60 for the dining pass but @ 3-4 times a week that's a lot of food for the price.

I was asking the limitations that may have, are they going to let me eat 3-4 times a week for the whole season.

My understanding is that there is no limit to how many times you can use it. I think the idea is that it is an extension of your season pass benefits, and since you can use that as many times as you want all season I see no reason they would turn your meal deal down. From their prospective, the more you are in the park the more opportunities to sell you merchandise or have you buy a drink to go with your meal which is revenue they otherwise would not have had.

I bought the meal deal and have used it both times I have been to the park so far. I feel that with some locations you definitely get a good portion of food while at others the portions are quite small. However, because I live so close to the park and plan on visiting often I still feel like this is a fantastic offer and would recommend it t to anyone who thinks they will visit the park ~5 times in order to get your monies worth.

With some creative accounting, if you visit 15 times and have lunch and dinner every time you could say that you paid $2 per meal or if you use the accounting system that scott must be using then you assign a value of 10 per meal (as an average of what is listed) and then assume that your first 6 meals you paid for and the next 24 are free. I can split hairs too!

^ Well said ACE

If i just make it for dinner it's still free after 6 meals @ $10 the next 42 meals is free, going three time a week.

I never spend any money in the park I bring a water bottle, I can see where your coming from, my friends buy $10 funnel cake sundae on advocate day but they wouldn't if they had a meal pass.

I not sure if this will last if we use this system for free food, I'm sure most will spend more but the few that use it close to the park for free meals it may be back next year with a limit, we are a test park for this offer.

As well as this is appearing to be doing, I hope Six Flags keeps this at our park and St. Louis.

Hell, I hope they will be transferabble for those of us that visit other Six Flags parks.

Yes, going by there prices, you would only have to get it 6 times to break even, but let's say you never bought inside the park food because you always thought it was expensive. For me to break even, the pizza and fries was worth about $4. The slice of pizza wasn't that big. So, if I value that really at $8 a day (if I had 2 pizzas with the fries), that means I would have to visit 8 times (16 meals) to break even. If you always eat inside the park, than you understand that the prices are skyrocketed on food. Because I usually eat outside the park, I take into consideration worth & value when comparing the two.

I think the reason they picked the $60 price is because I thought they said that a lot of season pass holders come about 3 times a year, and they really hope those are the people that buy this dining pass. Remember, about 1/3 of admissions are from season pass holders, and that doesn't mean that all of them are enthusiasts that go a ton of times.

Let's say just this year, a lot of those people only came 4 times a year (I know I said 3, but let's just say the new coaster & whatnot got them to come more). To them, 4 times (4 * $20 a day) = $80, and to them that means that they used it up to their satisfaction - They received worth out of the dining pass. Six Flags with those people has to be making a profit anyway. If you go by the $4 worth for each meal, that's only $32, and they paid $60 for the dining pass.

So, to me you are getting outside prices value if you are going to use it about 8 times.

Now, if they would have included the Funnel Cake on this menu, to me the worth is much higher because I don't know of many places that sell a Funnel Cake besides a carnival which is also going to have higher prices. So, that would be more worth to me.

Cheese on your fries is extra, it's not 'included with price'. I didn't get charged for it opening weekend, but I know things change over there very quick, and depending on which employee you ask

One thing I don't think has been mentioned yet, it's not just one or two meal options at each location that accepts the Dining Pass vouchers. It's pretty much most meal options at each location. Not the entire menu, but each place my partner & I visited last weekend with the vouchers, we encountered a menu board with five or six clearly labeled Dining Pass options. The quality of the food hasn't gotten any better, as others have noted. (I wish it would, don't we all...) But that's not the fault of the Dining Pass.

That said, Mooseburger Lodge totally melted down last Saturday. Confused, slow orders. Nothing except napkins available at the condiment stations--meanwhile the manager arguing with people that straws and other condiments were available and not wanting to give them out. It was kind of pathetic.
