SFMM 2011: "Green Lantern" STE Retheme, and "Kid's Coaster"

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby BP317 on October 14th, 2010, 10:41 pm
Sky Tower re-opened along with Tatsu's opening. The museum was added later when one of the parks employees came up with the idea and presented it to Jay who gave the go-ahead.

If you want your mind blown... Watch that video with the Demon song playing. I did by accident and it was pretty crazy.
Push down, then pull up. Exit to your left/right. And, enjoy the rest of your day at Six Flags! Your friendly enthusiast Kyle.

I'm startin to get weirded out by this announcement. Its not on their website & if you post ANYHING about the coasters for 2011 on SFMM's FB fanpage, they delete it. Three of our comments were deleted within 10min. So I said "dear Sixflags magic mountain, if you're goin to delete your fans comments...blah blah" cause I was irritated that they couldn't message me & say they haven't officially made the announcement or somethin... So this had to be leaked early & they're either not happy or this is one big "professional" joke!

^I would bet they are mad they did not get to make the announcement. Most parks want to stun the public and media with a surprise announcement, which the leak prevented.

The leak did do some good. It made everyone forget about Cheeta Hunt, but I'm sure they're pissed.

Yeah, well anyone is/would be upset about any surprise situation bein "leaked" or told before you could.

As much as this GL makes no sense, I see why they're placin it at SFMM. Capacity is my main issue with major coasters, & they're obv gonna market this as a major "large" coaster. It will most likely be an "Insane" clone which tops out around 116ft I think... But what I see is this coaster LOOKS intimidating & unlike anything the majority of people have ever seen, its completely new eye candy & everyones gonna wanna try it out!

So though the capacity & "size" issue don't seem to fit SFMM over a small park, its the wow factor "this is different & new" aspect as to why its goin in there.

I'm excited for it & hope the best for the park with it as a success but its still odd to me, no matter what. Haha

This is freaking BS. Once again the spoiled brat gets a new toy. They don't need this, especially with X2. This is 2001 all over again. MM gets 3 new coasters to market in 1 year, except this time almost everyone else gets shafted, and gets to drag the company back into fiancial ruin. Didn't this management team learn anything from Burke and Co.? Weber is telling us that with so many other parks, there was no better place for this to go???

I think they did it for business reason they got so many competition in california from universal, disney, knotts. MM is the only park open all year and they can still make money with this park rather than neglecting it and tourist heading to unidisney park. So im guessing a lot of cloning of rides for 2012 either that or were finally getting the first b&M 4d oh well we can only hope. So everyone should just calm down at least we got something new fo 2011 its better than nothing =;->

I'm fairly certain the 3 "new" coasters will cost less than one new B&M or Intamin.

These are really cheap. Superman, they are turning the cars around, and getting a different launch system. They aren't buying the whole coaster again, and of course it's getting a paintjob. The toddler coaster is a freebie that was supposed to go in last year, and this other coaster is a cheapie at around 7 million (around Dark Knight price). I do agree as I said before that the Zacspin shouldn't have went to this park because they have X already, and I think they should focus on flats instead of roller coaster, roller coaster, but these are cheaper rides / retheming / freebie.

I would guess the price for all of this would come to about 11 million with construction.

I've said this before on other sites. I'm 75% positive that the Zacspin was not supposed to end up there. Will you see more in 2012. Heck ya.

I think turning Supermans car around backwards involves a whole new car. Either that or there is an insane amount of modification with rearranging the seats and adding the OTSR's and all.

What Cp needs to do is tear down meanstreak and build a Texas Giant or El Toro type ride.

EDIT: Does anyone know of a SFMM forum?

You realize that Mean Streak and Texas Giant(up til now) are very near clones of each other.

Alot of the CPers are sayin that Cedar Point will have a BIG answer to this, but though it may APPEAR as that by 2012, their "answer" is already planned out in full already. When I would work launch at TTD, Jasper(head of contruction/planning to say the least) told me that on Millennium's OPENING day, they asked Intamin "what do you think about goin 400ft?" & he said that day they discussed all the ideas TTD was goin to be which was obv. 3years earlier. Soooo.... THEY KNOW what they want already.

Even though they consistantly want to push technology & let the world experience & see somethin new, I hope they get a GCI or some twisted classic take on a woodie. It would be a great new feel for the park, a feel of a necessity almost.

HOWEVER, THIS IS ABOUT SIX FLAGS MAGIC MOUNTAIN.... so, on that note, I am excited for this to come to the United States. I say SF purchases some more "european hotties" like more Eurofighters, Zacspins, Skyloop X-cars, & motor-bikes. ;)

According to the PR news release, the trains are new and will be lighter than the others

Looks like they have changed where the kiddie coaster is going to be located. It originally was going to be installed by Deja-Vu but now they are saying it will be installed near Bugs Bunny World.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Yes to both. The cars, just like the new TOT2, are gonna be "sleeker" more arrow-dynamic on both sides instead of flat on the back & sleek on the front like their old trains.

Now that the new kids coaster will go into (possibly) Bugs Bunny World, that would make it the 17th attraction for the themed area. It would be cool if it could go near that tree...that fake tree is huge & odd but nonetheless, great & interesting ;) haha.

I'm still excited for this (these) addition(s) but two green & black coasters side by side, is still frustrating to me.

I would say the Coaster Wars are still dead. Cedar Fair has way to many issues with their parks to be worrying about putting down 20-45 million on a new coaster. If they get a new coaster, in my opinion, it would be something cheap, really cheap.

Cedar Point building a cheap rollercoaster?! Haha. Ok ok... IF they do(which they should do) build a new woodie, that wouldn't be as expensive. But I'm thinkin with Kinzel here for only 2more years, I feel he's gonna want to leave his last couple "marks" on the park.

Leaving with a mark? There are way too many issues within the company that the money needs to be sent elsewhere in the company.
