The good news is that there is no mention anywhere or any special effects or sound being added to the ride. If we had lost out on a re-theme with a Bizzaro type setup, I would have been sad. They are simply just getting Chang painted green. Not a big deal or a big loss in my eyes anymore
^They only seem to put in the special effects under Shapiro when they redo something that is old, and try to make it new, and thus tricking the public with even having different names for the ride like X2, and Bizarro. Terminator was the only different one though. All the audio they have problems with, so why even try again with it.

Great Adventure already has a B&M with onboard audio/special effects, it's not unplausible that they cut things off the plan when the project was moved to from GAm to GAdv. Not saying your wrong because you might be right, but there is pretty much no way of knowing especially since the ride was moved to SFGAm it was a Shapiro-era project and now it's being built at GADV under new leadership.

Yep. I'm not only jealous, but sad. I hope we get back to back beemers now just to knock them on their face! :/ haha. WE SHOULD HAVE HAD THAT TITLE! *sigh* too bad.
My take on it is solely this: when it came to who deserved it, SFStl did, not us. But when it came down to SFGAm vs. SFGAdv on who deserved it...WE DID. We would have taken care of it a hell of a lot beter than they ever will. By this time next year, Green Lantern there will be a dump. It would have made a beautiful addition at our park where it would have been maintained & "pampered" over neglected.
/\ Yes that is the general understanding of what took place.
Mike here's an idea for the next "Galvan Investigates"...what is the next DC Comics character themed coaster is SFGAdv going to get? As of now they have Superman, Bizarro, 4 Batman-franchise coasters in the parks history, and now Green Lantern. The real question now is it the black one or white one?

You would have also been getting Green Lantern. Its going to have special effects, don't worry. I guess we'll see tunnels, mist, and lighting.
^Its the white one sense thats who the movies about.

Um, no, have you seen the park lately? Neglect is not something thrown around alot.

I'm sayin SFGAdv will once again "get it all" but neglect the addition... Do you mean SFGAdv lately is turnin around?
That's what has been said, although, I've been hearing from ACER's that there is a huge difference in service quality from Great Adventure compared to Great America. Sure, Great Adventure has the coasters, but apparently, Great America has the Service.
"I've been told that some part of every wish will be heard but lately I lost sight of the truth in those words."
I won't argue with service at GAdv, I've seen the worst theme park service you will ever see this year alone! I could write ALOT about what employees have done at Gadv just THIS YEAR, but some of it will offend ALOT of people. I've got tons of those stories. Green Lantern won't be neglected, which is what we were originally talking about. The park isn't neglected cleansliness wise anymore, as it was from the beginning to the shapiro years.

I love it how you're still on this "we deserve it more" streak. How? SFGAm already has a stand-up, already has a great park, and has no real competition. It's a Chicago thing, and it always will be.
SFGADv hadn't seen a new attraction with a positive review by the parkgoers since El Toro in 2006. The Dark Knight and Bizarro were two disappointments in a row (although Bizarro is a good ride - just not new) - and 2010 didn't even come with anything. Say what you want about Bucaneer Battle and Little Dipper being for families - but SFGAm's gotten something each year. People like Little Dipper. Even if it's not thrilling, it's better than nothing, which is what GADV got.
If SFGAm didn't already have Iron Wolf, I'd say it could go to either park - but both parks have 4 B&M's, both parks are pretty well-off, and one already has a stand-up .... hmmmm, let's think about this.
There's no streak, its true. People who have worked there for years even say they don't need it cause its "loved" then before you know it, its a"nobody" ride. WE DIDN'T NEED IT. SFSTL should have gotten it, no doubt.
& I may not like BB but I don't like water rides, don't say I don't like the addition, it looks awesome. I'm just not riding it cause I'm not gettin soaked, I have no other negativity twords it other than one thing, but that's not important. AS FOR LITTLE DIPPER, I love that ride, it was my first coaster, & I think SFGAm made it beautiful. Have NO negativity against it what so ever.
Back to GL, again, we didn't need it. NEED is the key word. SFSTl NEEDED it so to speak, would have been great there. But comparing SFGAm to SFGAdv, I don't think SFGADv had to get it. They need small additions right now to work on what HUGE ones they ALREADY have. Flats, take care of your big boy rides, & touch up/reopen your restaurants etc. That park is trashy in my opinion. SFGAm is VERY WELL taken care of. Most say its the best taken care of SF park, I'd agree havin been to a lot of them. So there's my streak for ya.

No they don't, I am always amazed every time I go to SFSTL how such a small park with such a small market has so many great coasters. In addition to EK, which is much better than anything SFGAm has, they also have have Mr Freeze, BTR, Boss, and Screamin' Eagle, awesome dark ride, and an Intamin Drop Tower. Meanwhile they only have 1 kiddie area.
Chicagoland has a population of almost 10,000,000 and St Louis area is closer to 3,000,000, and New York has a lot more than either. They probably figured considering how relatively inexpensive and large of a ride Chang is they could get the highest return in the New York market (and the opportunity to remove an expensive ride that doesn't have much ridership i'm sure didn't hurt).
I agree with you about SFGADV being a dump though, they should focus on the aesthetics and rehab more areas of the park. The newer stuff they've added like Golden Kingdom and the area around El Toro look good...only problem is that's only 2 areas of the park. Hopefully they clean up the Boardwalk with Green Lantern coming.
^Well if Shapiro and RedZone hadn't come in, the entire park would be themed as well as Golden Kingdom, and Plaza De Carnival(where el toro is) would be even better than it is now. They had a plan that would have knocked Cedar Point off of its pedastool. Every year the park would do a retheme or re-development of an area with attractions like Kingda Ka or El Toro everytime they did it! Thats right, Kingda Ka and El Toro were only the beginning. The complex ALSO would have been turned into a resort with a hotel like Disney's Fort Wilderness, along with shops, arcades, etc.
It was literally the first thing Shapiro cancelled when he came in
Just like Weber canceling/postponing everything huge right when he came in.
If Shapiro went through with Burke's plans for just GAdv (the would focus only on GAdv, MM, GA, and OT) the company would be dead. If Weber went through with Shapiro's 2011 vision the company would surely be gone. It amazing how things work.
If Burke stayed think of what the smaller parks would have looked like and think of what GAdv and the other big parks would look like.

The problem with that is Kingda Ka went grossly overbudget and cost the company tens of millions more than it should have, which probably dealt a huge blow to GADV's expansion plans. Yes they still got El Toro after, but they had to go into a lot more debt in order to do it. SF made the mistake of trying to get into a "who's got the bigger dick" war with CP and paid big.
Believe it or not, Toro really didn't cost that much. Terminator was only $2 million less. The fact that another one hasn't been bought is just unbeleivable.
When Gadv went to get Green Lantern approved, they did also bring up the hotel, not to get it approved, but they did mention it
For all the people saying Great Adventure is trashy and bad compared to Great America, the Trip Advisor reviews for Great Adventure are a lot better than those for Great America
So what your saying is your going to trust a bunch of GP reviews from people who haven't been to both parks to judge which park is in better shape cosmetically? Great Adventure has a better coaster collection no question, but Great America is a nicer looking park. There are no areas of SFGAm that look really bad anymore now that they have re-done the Power Dive and Eagle tent area, there are still several parts of SFGAdv that look really bad.
Ill use BTR as one example, here are some pics from Great Adventure
