The question is why Mack again though. Six Flags has bought 2 rides at our park that people don't really love, so why buy from them again? How about them buying a Gestaurler that's not a mouse coaster??

For this Spongebob ride in the link below, they spent almost $3 million. That's nothing for a coaster, and these look so fun. http://rcdb.com/3727.htm

It's simple. Capacity.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE these things, and would die to get one, but their just bad capacity coasters. I heard they do 800 TPPH

Spongebob is the smallest model offered, Gerstlauer makes stock models up to 1400 pph, and can custom design anything any park wants as high a capacity as they need.
Favorite Wood Coasters: The Voyage, Ravine Flyer II, Thunderhead, Balder
Favorite Steel: Voltron Nevera, Steel Vengeance, Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping
Parks visited: 232, Coasters Ridden: Steel: 894, Wood: 179, Total: 1073

The Eurofighter coasters actually have very good capacity. When I went on Spongebob the trains were loaded quickly and the line moved fast. As long as its designed well with the blockings and operated properly there is no reason those cannot handle crowds like a normal coaster at a big park. I wouldnt be surprised if Spongebob's capacity is higher than Hollywood Rockit's.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE these things, and would die to get one, but their just bad capacity coasters. I heard they do 800 TPPH

I think if operated correctly they can do more, but 800 is not horrible. That's about the same as rides like SUF and Demon put through an hour. A similar ride to the Gerstlauer but much worse capacity are the S&S ones. Go to Indiana Beach and look at the abomination of an operation known as Steel Hawg. The worst capacity i've ever seen on a roller coaster.

Never even thought about a Spongebob-type ride. That thing might be small, but it's incredibly fun. Capacity might be an issue though, unless we got a bigger one with more cars.

Six Flags does not have the rights to nicktoons. Six Flags has Cartoon Network Characters.

Six Flags does not have the rights to Cartoon Network characters [anymore] either, which is why the area was renamed to Camp Cartoon and all the Cartoon Network characters were taken off the sign. All of the rides in that area are themed to old Hannah-Barbara cartoons, although they used to play on Cartoon Network many years ago they have nothing to do with the actual tv station or company. The characters Six Flags can use are Hannah-Barbara, DC Comics, and Warner Brothes (which Six Flags bought the rights to when they bought Great America from Marriott, hence why the old SF parks did not have them before SF bought Great America).

^^^Six Flags had a Sponge-bob ride at Great Adventure before (a motion simulator), so it's not impossible that they couldn't get a Sponge-Bob ride by a buying a license for it, but that wasn't my point at all. My point was that the Sponge-Bob Euro Fighter has a price tag on rcdb of about $3 million, and thus the cost doesn't seem that high for what looks to me like a thrilling roller coaster. Sure, it's not 200 some feet, but it looks like a thrill fun ride.

And also my point is that they are buying all these mouse coasters because they are cheap, well why not buy this roller coaster that is cheaper, and it actually looks very thrilling for teens and up? V2 costs double as much as that Sponge-Bob ride.

So, what are the outlooks for 2011? New ride in Chang area? New ride in SWF area? New paint for a ride?

We have to wait until the off season to find the truth.

Any new ride needs to be announced this month or next.

For the looks of it right now, nothing. For all we know we could be getting a dive machine, but nothing is known. It's just funny though, because GAm rented a crane, for which I assume is for Chang, and now it's just sitting there. So, I think they might have something 'good' in store. Because the mayor said, "The park is looking into some other options that they think are just as exciting." (Not the exact quote, but close to it.) So, they deffiently have something in store. My guess is that it will either be water park related, or family-ish. EVEN though they already attempted this whole thing, and it doesn't work every time. Shapiro tried for years, and all we got out of it we're cleaner parks and bankruptcy.

Weber needs to do what Six Flags is known for, thrills. What happened to, "The Thrill Capital of America!" ?

^ Great Adventure is announcing theirs next month, so I assume ours will follow soon. KK announced theirs, basically the day Chang came down.

I do not need them to go back to all thrills but it does seem like there is nothing major to get on for people that visit more often than the general public. We pay attention to the additions and removals while everyone else just gauks (sp?) and passes by. I would love for something big next season at least that new SWF type. Which would make up for the lousy addition in BB.

What crane?

If you're talking about this: http://changsfgam2011.blogspot.com/ then your a little off because that crane disappeared a long time ago.

That's what got Six Flags into debt in the first place.

I am well aware that an average coaster costs between 8-15 Million.

Right. No need for 15-25 million dollar rides for ONE park.

The debt problem also had to do with the NUMBER of thrill rides they bought. To me, it's okay to buy a $15 million thrill ride, but to me you should watch what you spend on for the next 3 or so years. However, for some of the parks, they put that expensive $15 million in, and than the next year more whopping investments, and the next year, and so on. Look what we did in 2001. We got 2 roller coasters, and than in 2003, we got a $15 million roller coaster, and than the next year you have Mardi Gras area with yet another roller coaster, and used Revolution, but still. For the next year after that, you had what a $25 million waterpark. That's a ton of money in such a short time.

On top of that, another reason for the debt is for just acquiring so many parks, and them also releasing parks without getting much for them. Sure, there was the Darien Lakes, and Elitch Gardens, but there was also the parks in other countries they got rid of like the park that had Stunt Fall, and than there's Six Flags Ohio. They never should have bought all these parks!
