Crazy Designs

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby deja blues on June 25th, 2010, 3:45 am
I looked through the forums but couldn't find any topic like this, if so mods be my guest and lock it. But, has anyone seen this ride...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K472_HAzR6Q

** It is truly the most sadistic thing I have ever witnessed. I just wanted to see if any of you know any strange roller coaster/flat designs. I know there are the crazy itamin ball coasters and zac spins. I just wanted to know what else is out there, there have to be some more devilishly wicked designs.

All I would say is besides Deja Vu, you have Mr. Freeze, and this ride:
X-Coaster -- http://rcdb.com/3312.htm
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"

That's the same coaster design, but different installation. I rode the one at Skyline, it's nice being hung upsidedown for an extended period by only a lapbar, but it's the exactly the most comfortable ride in the world. It's very different from just about anything else. And that is actually an expandable design, if either park wants there are 2 more parts they can add. Abismo in Spain was built with the first expansion.

Yeah I watched that and I still can't pronounce it correctly. That is like the strangest design I have ever seen. It almost reminds me of G-force at Drayton Manor Theme Park with the like inverting chain lift. It looks so cool, if they get rid of Iron wolf they should do that or an itamin ball coaster because they both have really small footprints. Also have you guys seen some of those crazy german carnival rides. There is like the really crazy one called the flying circus (monty python). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Df1uSSl3tWM I don't normally get nauseous on even the most intense rides, but with so many rotations going on I would die.

The Bat at Kings Island

Worlds first suspended coaster had a major design flaw. The turns were not banked causing some seriously intense swinging. Ironically KI got another suspended swinging coaster years after it was removed.

Moonsault Scramble at Fujiku Highland

That pretzel loop, from what i've heard and you can see in this vid, is insane (also was the worlds first 200ft coaster not Magnum).

X Scream at Stratosphere

I'm still upset this ride was closed due to cold weather when I was in Vegas, it looks nothing short of amazing. I also remember when it opened how everyone was making fun of the name (as Scream was the new ride at SFMM and X was the new coaster before that).

And of course...the Crystal Beach Cyclone

I have seen x scream before and it is just insane. Like when it does the fake little drop as if it were broken and you just hear everyone who is watching and riding scream. That is literally so intense. Although the scariest ride I have ever seen is this ride haha!
http://www.rcdb.com/2785.htm?p=9632
I don't even want to understand that ride it is just too insane.
http://www.rcdb.com/45.htm?p=4457
Again I don't even want to try to comprehend this ride or how it works. In my mind ultra twisters are always strange.
http://rcdb.com/3429.htm?p=16762
This one I don't know what to think. In my mind, launching through a turn is never a good thing and having a loop then a circle just makes the ride even more baffling.

Haha! I just read about those apparently what the ride operators love to do is at then end of the ride when everyone gets up they'll shake it one last time so everyone falls over, that's crazy.

That roller coaster is another one of those that is lame except for the fact your dangling off the side of the building. To me it just seems strange because all it does it tilt you further and further off the edge, but I would also be crying because I didn't want to die.

I've ridden a few Tagada's and they can have some rather strong airtime even with no restraints, people are routinely thrown out of their seats. However you'll never see one in the US, people around the world are responsible, here, not so much :)

Are they really cushioned because they look insane, but also really fun. I really wish that some of those crazy german rides could come here. Being a German seems like so much fun, sigh!

Tagada's are entirely stainless steel and fiberglass, there are no amenities, the ride tends to spank you quite a bit :)

I love the maure sohne Xcar coasters, mainly ABISMO! The company is pronounced MAUR-RA ZOON-AH...haha that's how I tried and teach someone to say it. They did make GForce at Drayton Manor in UK as well btw, someone brought up it reminds them of Skywheel. As for the Moonsault scramble, yes it was an odd coaster which did break 200ft but sadly not really recognized due to bein a shuttle. I believe it was removed for Eejanaika. Xscream looks very interesting...the way the wheels are assembled, it allows the car to go over the "edge" of the track.

Riverview had some crazy rides, just like the flying cars & BOBS. Wish it was still around, if it could have stayed & been expanded, it would have been the CP of today...honestly havin EIGHT coaster at the end of its time is insane for that time period. It would have been so historical & innovative cause that's what they were back then :( ugh. I've said it many times, but SFGAm needs to recreate an EXACT replica of the Riverview Bobs!

As for an interesting company & design I'd like to add(sorry on mobile cannot post link), go to rcdb.com & search...

"Familieachtbaan" by ABC Rides-tube coaster at Billybird park. VERY odd, and interesting facts about it as well.

^What happened to Riverview?
Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking, isn't thinking of.

It closed in 1967 without warning. It had an impressive collection of coasters for that time. I wonder if Marriott's would have built GAm if Riverview had survived.

back to tagada for a second, here's the one I rode back in 06, around 2:45 or so when it changes direction, it really starts throwing people around :)

There is a "small" piece of a new KMG ride set to debut in 2011. No idea what it is yet other than it will stand 80 meters tall on the fairgrounds.
