Remember that girl who choked to death on a piece of candy on Raging Bull? Well, I just heard that they just found out that her heart failed and that she didn't have any candy. Did anyone else hear this?
Where did you hear that, because I'm very curious that it could change seeing that the coroners official report said it was a piece of candy. Someone did die after suffering a heart attack this year at one of the florida parks though
And to think they spent all that money on the new signs saying "no chewing gum or candy on the ride" But its a good thing to prevent any candy accidents from the future.

For the actual sign on RB they probably only spent $1 or less on it. For the stickers on all the rest of the rides they probably spent like 5 cents on each sticker.
Well a couple of days after that i heard they made new signs to acoomadate the extra lines or two. Well then again I think your right on that one SFGAmfreak4life. Really it aint going to cost that much to put a sticker on a sign.
Well I know all the coasters had them but I'm not sure about the flats. I'm pretty sure that I didnt see any on Triple Play or HFN or East River Crawler. But they might of before I went which was about a month after the incoent.
I think its obvious why they need that warining for the scenic railway, incase of a sudden and violent acceleration, gum or taffy could be forced to the back of the throat, causing discomfort, and a possible hazard.
"Timmy179 who feels it mandatory to carry on the "cheese on a stick" tradition"
They are on EVERY ride. Even the train has suffered, well not really suffered.
About the girl's death. I havn't read the article, but I'm assuming if Six Flags added signs and the coronors report said there was gum/candy in her mouth, then there probably was. I don't think that they can get as descriptive as saying "we were pulling blue taffy our of her mouth" and there not be candy.
I'm betting that they initally thought it was asphyxiation, and later found it to be heart failure.
hmmm....maybe the girl suffered from heart failure during the ride causing the taffy or whatever it was to the back of her throat, making them think she actually did choke on it.

The signs really do nothing. I know they were for safety but in some cases the signs made the whole candy/gum litter thing worse. Many times people would read the sign and think: "Gee...there is no garbage can where I am standing....so why don't I be stupid and place it on the handrail, or drop it on the ground so someone else can step on it." Not all people are like this, but I know some of my friends were like that. It's common sense. Then there are the people that would play basketball with their gum and try and shoot it into a garbage can. Only they would miss and it would:
A. Land on the plants/bushes
B. Land on some other person (yes it happened to a person in line when it got stuck in the hair; worse yet, it was a girl)
The sign did help in prventing most people from chewing gum while during the ride, but it made many "sticky" situations, if you know where I am coming from.
One word on the signs. In the days after the accident, a temporary addition was on every sign. It wasn't the same color or typeface (font) as the rest of the sign. It was generic and black and white. By the end of the year every sign that had it plastered on was redone so it would match.
Well lets hope they now again change the signs since the chewing of gum hasnt been show at all to be part of this accident nor a problem on any other rides.
They won't change the signs, why would they? So they can let an accident like that happen in the future. It is very possible for somebody to choke on a piece of Gum while on a coaster, just because this person didn't doesn't mean it should be allowed again.
