We finally arrived in Valencia this afternoon and here is a small preview of what will be coming on my weekend at Magic Mountain!
Yes i know its probably the the worst quality you've ever seen but hey it was getting dark out, if im not compleatly exhausted tomorow then there will be more, if not well pictures will be on this topic eventually. check back...
Their Tidal Wave = our Splashwater Falls? Is it the name of their version? Does any1 know how better of condition their version is? Built by same company?
Its still there, last I heard it was down for rehab. I doubt its in as bad of shape as SWF was but its not exactly in stellar shape either, I wonder if the water is still flammable .
Going past that place at night, you can barely tell it's there at least when I was there. It's such a shame. Poor lighting Six Flags = Poor Advertising for travelers that are going down that road. I think rides towards the outside of these parks should be lit up at night even if the park is closed. At SFGAm, you can clearly see, the American Eagle, and the area where Deja Vu used to be. You can also see other things, but Raging Bull is poorly lit. Basically, it's not lit at all.
If you think lighting is not a big deal, go to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, or Kings Island. You will be impressed by the things that are lit. I know everyone wants dark, dark, and dark, but I like changing color things, and think a lot of other people like that to. The thing is that I don't even like the castle itself, but I like all the colors it changes on it.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
^ It's only lit when the park is open. After the ride is done running for the day, they turn the lights out. Ilovthevu is referring to lighting regardless of the park being open.
the only thing that was lit when the park was closed friday night was riddlers lift for some reason, but nothing else. and im working on the pics right now so they will be up soon
So anyway saying the least, Magic Mountain is my new favorite theme park and X2 is my new favorite rollercoaster, seriously that thing is INSANE!! my second favorite was Scream, and third was none other then Tastsu. The park was very clean, everyone was friendly and the ops were fast, thats all i ask for.
Ride Count:
Batman The Ride-1 (I closed my eyes and pretended i was at SFGAm) Canyon Blaster-25+ (yeah it was awesome) Collosus-9 Gold Rusher-1 Goliath-9 Ninja-9 Revolution-1 Riddlers Revenge-5 Scream!-35 (yeah i LOVE this ride) Superman The Escape-1 Tatsu-7 Viper-1 X2-3
First A pic to get everyone sad
and on to Magic Mountain!
The only problem I had with this place was unstead of scanning everyones tickets before they opened they made us all stand there until they opened and then the began scanning tickets.
Pretty much what we came for
we were 3rd train of the day, and of course we had to ride in the front of the train which made it that much better.
4 rails
X2 is sexy
did they run out of paint or something?
thats a pretty big train
the operators booth is above the track
This is the arrow corner of the park
We had to buy our picture!
Next was the flying beast Tatsu!
It has a really steap lift
I coulda closed my eyes and pretended it was superman but why would I want to pretend I was on that crap?
regular position
flying position
they only had one side of the station going so i didnt get to see how the switch track worked
I love Tatsu! (they basically have supports all over the park for Tatsu since its kind of squeezed in)
unstead of dropping floors Tatsu has indents in the concrete, this proly saves a ton of electricity.
out of the three stand up's iv'e been on Riddlers Revenge is the best
This coaster is quite smooth.
Wooo dive loop
from the sky tower
This was the only coaster in the park running one train (well except X2 was on sunday but not saturday)
BTR at SFGAm is 10 times better
This coaster must not be very popular because it never even had a line.
I could have ridden this all day long
oh crap where did the floor go?!?
There it is!
I love this picture
The floorless trains are really awesome
Goliath was pretty awesome. although i HATE that stupid helix from hell!!!
There was random huge feet in the line
our picture
Im not really sure if i liked Goliath or Titan better.
The queue line looked like it was some sort of jungle
There was a random support in the jungle that said "dang" so we called it the dang support
Collosus was cool, and it was smooth for being that old and wooden.
thats alot of wood
Collosus and Goliath
The first modern looping coaster!
it reminded me of whizzer, going through all the trees and everything
Viper
This is the closest im ever going to get to shockwave
Ninja was lots of fun
I liked it more then Iron Dragon (at cedar point)
Here you can see how tiny the track is on these coasters
alot of it was hidden in the trees
Superman The escape, i think we waited the longest for this, about an hour
There was this strang looking superman in the building
Tunnel!
This thing was extreamly loud!
If im not mistaken this is the oldest rollercoaster there
it was ok
It really make use of Magic Mountains hilly terrain
For the terminator fans
This ride looks like its gonna be awesome
they had alot of cool stuff in the sky tower museum
Mr. Six Bobble head
psyclones control panel
Shouldnt this be at Great Adventure
Yes, he was there!!
The end

Since their flash passes are not available yet, you got on a freakin lot dude. I had a dream I was there the other day and I actually got there flash pass...I know...boy it is really like being a kid in a candy store...but I don't like candy
yeah it wasnt very crowded there at all, and no im not goin to any other parks because we only stayed for the weekend, we were almost gonna go to knotts but i said screw it, although we are going to SFDK later in march and then a week later SFGAm =]
Looks like you had a good time at SFMM, the park looks almost like a totally different place than it did last time I was there in 01. You took a pic of something I've been looking for since I saw it in 01 and had no camera....
I want to know the story behind that piece of track that's a whole like 1 foot long. I cant imagine any reason for designing that in there, I'm going to guess they got to the end and there was a gap

Batman the Ride probably isn't going to run 2 trains during this time because they only bought 2 trains (Buy another one!!), and it's rehab time. The other rides have more trains on them so they are able to run more. As I'm aware of, Superman only is supposed to have 1 side going. I think how it's done is that they have 1 track going at a time. In other words, when one is being fixed, you have the other side going. How do they fix it? Well, it's only open weekends right now.

Even if STE had both sides ready to go, it will never run both at the same time again because of the massive amounts of power it takes to launch plus structural issues/design flaws prohibit both cars cycling at the same time also.

Yeah I realized Batman only has 2 trains and i knew it would only be running one, I was just pointing it out. and yes Superman cant run both sides at the same time due to electrical problems
I'm thinking that Superman will be out the door one day as it is pretty old and drains their budget yearly...then again so do other rides...Deja Vu (opening May?)...cough
