The link above states that a new S&S roller coaster will have the steepest drop, at 112 degrees. Doesn't Steel Hawg have a 120 Degree drop?
Also, I don't fully understand this, but I think I do, do the saxophones not count as a drop? Because would that be like saying a loop is the steepest drop?
Steel Hawg has a 111 degree drop angle. As for the saxophones, they do not count as a drop. That'd be like saying a vertical loop has a 180 degree drop from the top to bottom.
I've been on Steel Hawg and if Mumbo Jumbo is anything like it, I'd rather they punch me in the face for 2 minutes. I don't need the credit that badly.
Really? I thought Steel Hawg was hella-fun. Sure it wasn't the greatest ride I've been on, but I'd much rather have gotten that the Dark Knight last year.
I heard Steel Hog was alright. Obviously not the best coaster in the world. It's an OK addition to their park. I'm not too familiar with the park but the coasters don't seem too big so even though this is small, some people will appreciate it over there.

LOL this thread takes me back to the dragster v.s ka days I would have loved to ridden Steel Hawg, but it was closed when I went to IB in 2008, and yeah supposedly Steel Hawk had it's drop angle changed before construction, but nobody decided to tell the marketing team, so it has been referred to as being 120 but it's really 111
I'm sure the park was informed, but with them being run by former SF management now, they probably just didn't care. They think everything is based on big numbers and 120 sounds better to them.

I thought Steel Hawg was fun but has absolutely horrendous capacity, probably the worst of any coaster ive ever seen. Sending one 4 person car every 4 minutes when theres a huge line is rediculous.

Found it funny when I went to IB last year it was ran just how SFGAdv was when I went in 2005 (really crappy), and they were ran by the same guy. They may as well hire a monkey to run the park, not that hard to just say "Only have 1 train on all of the coasters and fire half of the maintenence staff, doesnt matter if half the park opens late or not at all."
Luckily I went on a weekday when the lines weren't too bad. Regardless, I still waited 20 minutes for Steel Hawg. I couldn't imagine going on the weekend and waiting for any rides with a 1 train op though. The Lost Coaster only ran 1 train there and that was a 15 minute wait with about 30 people in line. Still worth it though.
I believe lost coaster ran one train on a daily basis for the entire year.
Usually when I was there Steel Hawg was running 2, but with the stupid design of the ride, you don't gain anything running more than 2. Even with 2 it stacks every time, and there is no way to prevent that, with the restraint unlocking system it has and how often it malfunctions.
