SFGAm (From 2007)

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby BP317 on October 11th, 2008, 9:08 pm
I had a few pictures from 2007 sitting around so may as well put them to use.

Image
This is me with Murray from the Wiggles.

Image
Ay!

Image
2007 could be considered the year of the show promo's everywhere.

Image

Image
When I say everywhere, I mean everywhere

Image
Ah Six Flags Great America.
And yes this "lanscaping" in front of the Carousel was there for a good day or so, until they realized they cant go out and dance there with bushes in the way :).

Image
What is this peering behind the trees?

Image
OMG its HOMETOWN PARK!

Image
...I mean, DejaVu! The greatest thing since the Swedish penis enlarger in Austin Powers.

Image
That tied off seat in 1-B is breaking my balls in these pictures.

Image
I bet you miss this view.

Image
Its okay though, cause youll get to spray water at people in this spot next year.

Image
More pictures of the loop for redundancy purposes.

Image
This was never used.

Image
The parks skyline.

Image
Hurricane Harbor =======>

Image
So this ride got you wet...and the ride in front of it you can no longer ride single...and the ride behind both of those you swing back and forth for a small fortune.

Image
DejaVu....THROUGH THE TREES (okay that was entirely innapropriate).

Image
Bow to Vekoma.

Image
One of the best flats in the park, meet one of the best coasters in the park (nevermind that Fantastic 4 billboard in the foreground).

DejaVu, through the trees/dippin dots stand/flowers/directional signage.

Image
And now its time for the most successful show in the history of the Six Flags Corporation.

Image
This is where you got to watch some random guy wearing goggles call for Spygirl to come save the day.

Image
So this guy comes out and starts doing flips, bad guy tries to blow up the world, Spygirl saves the world!

Image
The esurance wishes she were as good as Spygirl, but she is really SOBAD (wow, how could I not come up with a better caption than that?)

Image
So the volcanoes with secret labratories inside are composite, right?

Image
Cue the theme song. SPYGIRL. SPYGIIIIIRL. Dur dur dur la la SPYGIRL!

Image
Okay lets try this again without the pink hair and shamelss 24 ad.
SPYGIRL. SPYGIIIIIRL. Dur dur dur la la SPYGIRL!

Image
The blue sign points out Daredevil Dive opens at 11am (Oh I guess it doesnt need that sign anymore :P)

Image
Get ready for a series of "did you know" pictures.

Image

Image

Image
TALLEST, FASTEST, HIGHEST racing wooden coaster in Lake County.

Image
And you thought you were through with the "did you know" pictures.

Heres a picture of the old Eagles Flight station for all you nostalgics out there.

Image
Its time to stand erect.

Image
This looks like an extremely poplar ride.

Image
I wonder if they built Iron Wolf because Ron Wolf wanted them to?

Image
Whip it good.

Image
This picture is so uneccesary.

Image
While your waiting here in line, better take a little time for medatating, cause he's waiting...

Image
He's the DEMON! I love the flames on the sign/flowers, totally bad a**.

Image
This is how Marriott envisioned how its like to be "escaping from hell."

Image
This is a corkscrew. It originated at Knotts Berry Farm. GO BEARS.

Image
Splashwater Falls was good for one thing, cool views of Demon from its exit path.

Image
Whenever I see a pic of this I always think 1998.

Image
Zamperla flying contraption...the not-death kind!

Image
Any ride called "Yummy Yummy" and themed after fruit salad gets Richard Simmons stamp of approval.

Image
See?

Image
I just realized ive been to all the Wiggles Worlds in North America. Thats special.

Totally.

Image
This was the first year of the qbot. SFGAm was actually the 2nd park to get this system behind Dollywood.

And now its time for pics of all the theme area signs in Carousel Plaza:

Image

Image
Sky Trek Tower and some shrubbery. If you cant tell, I like shrubbery.

Image
DejaVu is ready for you! [insert credit here]

Image
Rule #1 of working at SFGAm, dont park under the pretzel loop. Those people are crazy.

Image
This picture makes me want to take a Whizzer.

Image
DROP THE PASCOM, SEAL THE BAY!

Image
The view from the train station.

Image
Hometown Square, shrubbery. What else could you want?

Image
I loved the Marvin show. Was actually 3d and really fun.

Image
Back in 2002 this is where we all used to stand waiting for the park to open to run to DejaVu listening to the old school Marriott HTS loop. That indian guy was the only one to ever beat Dave.

Image
DejaVu looked so awesome at SFGAm. Look at it. LOOK AT IT!!!!!
Just so you know thats from a Spongebob episode where Spongebob thinks he's ugly and Patrick picks him up and tells everyone "LOOK AT IT!!!! ITS UGLY ISNT IT!!!" Good stuff.

Image
Jumpin, Jammin.

Image
The guests who ride Allies Trolly in the parade all assemble behind this building before it starts. Then the floats come out of these doors. Fascinating.

Image
This isnt Captain Picards enterprise.

Image
Aunt Martha's has themed napkins. I didnt notice this until last January.

Image
Winner winner chicken dinner.

Image

Image
Stop. Go. Stop. Go. About to turn red. Go. Stop. Go.
Oh this is a 2007 TR....its back!

Image

Image

Image
In case your wondering SFGAm designs their landscaping in RCT.

Six Flags the last few years before Shapiro additions detail in the theming is incredible. SFGAms waterpark, Golden Kingdom, etc.

Image

Image

Image

Image
This is what we call the Raging Bull rain dance.

Image

Image
The Great Southwest is experiencing a drought.

Image
...and apparently the Great Southwest is also being attacked by a Demon also?

Image
My fondest memories of Fiesta Fries was when Giant Drops line was full queues with it extending past here during Fright Fest 2005.

Image
I love Time Warner (as youll find out later in the TR with all the BTR pics).

Image
Check out that shiny new fiberglass...so nice. Actually the fiberglass was new the year before, but we'll ignore that for now. So shiny.

Image

Image

Image
With its central location its hard to not get DejaVu in any picture in this direction.

Image

Image
We often forget SF's taking out rides and replacing them with nothing started before 2008.

And we're back in Hometown Square?

Image
Lets follow Bugs & Lola to Orleans Place.

Image

Image
You may notice all of the midways are extremely clean. I think by playing Christina Agulara's Car Wash throughout the midways in 2008 made them think the park was clean, instead of actually budgeting for a lot of sweepers like they did in 07 :).

Image
Its everyones least favorite B&M flyer.

Image

Image
Contrary to popular belief, theres no lack of trees in front of SUFs pretzel loop.

Image
This view is certainly less intimidating with SUF.

Image
See?

Image
Speaking of less intimidating.

Image
Atmosphere.

Image

Image
One last look at SUF

Image

Image
They repainted the Chaos pond with the leftover paint from the reflection pond, so it went from being dark blue to light blue.

Image
Manny B was my favorite show at SFGAm...
...other than Operation Spygirl of course.

Image

Image

Image

Image
Its the original "good sign." This was later replaced twice for no reason.

Image

Image
The outside doesnt have as much landscaping as CGAs.

Image
But the inside looks MUCH better than CGAs, no slow down rail!

I love Time Warner.

I was really dissapointed when they made the new cityscape this year and rebuilt this wall. No more Wintrode or Bolliger & Mabillard.

I dont know why there is a rendering of Six Flags New Englands Batman in the batcave, its been there for years.

Image
SFGAms BTR is the only invert I know of that has decals on the trains (other than the ski's on Alpengiest).

Cool! Thanks for taking the time to post these. I can' believe how much things have changed from last year. You realize the bigger changes, but there were a lot of smaller ones too.

WHY did you post that?
I will give any1 $100 to take me back to 2007 NOW
This just proves SFGam is NOTHING without a Giant Inverted Boomerang and a ageless water ride that was short BUT sweet

Those were some of the best photos of the park I've ever seen!!!! Excellent job on the Trip Report!!!!! It honestly made me cringe a little to see how nice some aspects of our park were just one year ago, and how bad they look now. Granted, I agree with the rides being removed, and I like Dark Knight in place of the TR, but still, it looked so much better last year, or maybe it was just your photos!!! :) Thanks for posting bud!!!
RIP: Trailblazer and Deja Vu...heck, even Alien Encounter :(

What PISSES me off about SWF is that so many other Six Flags parks still have theres and our is gone with nothing replacing it for the foreseeable future. They would have been better off leaving the thing standing and just not operating it.
