Has anyone seen any E-Stops on any rides other than coasters? How did the ride react? The closest I've seen to an E-Stop is probably someone puking, and the ride cycle ending early on the Lobster, so it's really not an E-Stop, just disgusting.
There are different kinds of stops. Ride Stops, Lift Stops, and E-StopsRide Stops stop the ride, or in the case of a coaster, at the next control point. Lift stop is obvious, and and E-Stop will cut power to the ride.In the case of a flat ride, power being cut will sometimes not close the brakes, so the ride takes longer to stop.
I am just wondering, but how many control points are there generally on a coaster.. like Raging Bull. I know that the life and then probably near the top but then there is the 2nd hill that the breaks slow you a little. I'm assuming that is a ride stop (control point).. but are there any more?
Need a break from college homework.. 2004 season, come faster!!

I doubt the trim breaks on the 2nd hill could stop the train...the next control point is probably the mid course breaks.
Ive seen a few ride stops before for various reasons and during my SoCal trip while riding Riddler's Revenge they did a lift stop to my train since somebody's seat belt was unbuckled.I've never seen a E-stop before, but I hear The Orbit or any Enterprise is one ride you don't want to be E-stopped on. From what I have heard it drops down pretty quick during a E-stop.Magic Mountain though is the only park I have seen where they will stop any flatride half way through it's cycle if you put one hand over your mouth and one in the air. They announce to do so before every flat ride if you wish for the ride to be stopped. I found it odd, I had never seen it at another park before.
No you don't want to be E-stopped on Orbit. That would hurt. Many of the ride S.O.P.'s state that it may be better to press a ride stop THEN and e-stop in order to close the brakes then cut power. E-stops are used generallly in situations where it is a good idea to cut power to the ride. Structural failure, electrical situation or major mechanical malfunction.A control point on a coaster is anywhere you can stop the ride. Generally its the station, lift, and any brakes. Trim brakes usually aren't included as a control point, mainly because it would be unsafe and time consuming to emergency unload guests from a point like that. Most areas where a train will stop are next to some type of unload platform, like the mid-course brakes on Bull, Demon, Whizzer just to name a few.Rides like Batman and Iron Wolf do not have any mid-course brakes. After the train leaves the lift, you won't be able to stop it until it gets to the service brake. On both rides the control points would be in order as follows:StationLiftService BrakeSaftey BrakeTransfer Brake
