2-week Trip - North Carolina & Kentucky

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby DejaVuGurl1203 on July 22nd, 2008, 1:41 pm
So, looks like I will be going with my boyfriend, his father and his brother on their two-week vacation. After doing some research, I am hoping to go to a few parks on this trip.

In North Caarolina...
-Carowinds (It's 2 hours from where we are staying, so that's definitely wishful thinking there. :( )
(We are staying at Sugar Mountain Resort.)

In Kentucky...
-Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom
-Beech Bend (In Bowling Green, KY)
-The Corvette Museum! Lol
(We are staying near the Mammoth Cave National Park. We'd be pretty much right next to Beech Bend and the Corvette Museum, while SFKK is almost an hour and a half away.)

If it was just me and my boyfriend, we'd DEFINITELY be going to all of these places. Unfortunately it's not...

Anyone got any tips and suggestions? Anyone think I should avoid a certain park and save my money for the others? I dunno... I REALLY want to go to Carowinds the most, but it most likely won't happen, but I want to make it happen! Argh. Lol.

By the way, we are leaving for North Carolina this Saturday, the 26h. Then we are going to Kentucky probably the next Saturday or Sunday after that and staying the whole week.

First you have to know that Twisted Twins will be closed at Kentucky Kingdom.
Also, SFKK will most likely not be crowded at all.
Also, I reccomend Riding Flying Super Saturator at Carowind's because this could be the rides last year.
Also, Holiday World is an hour away from Kentucky Kingdom/ Beech Bend.

Also if anyone needs travel tips, I know of a website to go to, http://www.kayak.com

I know Twisted Twins is going to be closed. Oh well...

And oh my, I didn't realize Santa Claus, IN was that close! Now I've got another park to think about... I can't really afford going to every park, so we'll see.

Twisted Twins, Dragsters and the Chute the Chutes and all surrounding rides are closed for the year, whole section of the park is walled off. Guessing it will all most than likely be bulldozed in favor of the parking lot SFKK has always wanted, as the expo center currently owns the parking lot and SFKK makes no $$ off of it.

Ride the water coaster @ Kentucky Kingdom (i think its called deluge) it uses LIM's instead of water blasters or the high-speed conveyor belt (i think that one is @ Six flags america or New England).. but yeah i think it looks cool

and yeah the super saturator @ Carowinds is going to be replaced by Geauga's Boomerang

This is true, Deluge is an awesome ride, you can ride in your street clothes, though you'd look rather silly in the waterpark like that, pack a swim suit :)

I'd say skip Carowinds, while they may have some pretty sweet coasters, my day was fairly ruined there because of the slowest employees ever.

^ Actually the reason why those rides are closed according to Lance Hart from Screamscape is because SFKK was the only park in 2007 in the Chain not to generate any profit, So as a result the park had to cut corner's to make up for it.

It also explains why SFGAd had to close down a majority of the rides because they lost .5% In Attendance.

When you are in Kentucky, make sure to check out the Kentucky Action Park, and ride the Alpine Slide! :D

I was down there about 15 years ago, and it was tons of fun.

HW is good, just dont drink. Not even a sip of beer, they have breathalyzers and they arent afraid to use them. If you blow .01, or any trace you will be ejected from the park without refund.

Well, things sure have changed drastically.

While we were packing the car, we suddenly found out that it wasn't a two week trip! No one told my boyfriend or me... this week was going to be North Carolina, next week back at home, and the week after is Kentucky. Now I cannot go to Kentucky because I had changed all my appointments to that week and my mom flat out said NO. I wanted to go to Kentucky more than North Carolina. Oh well...

So, I don't think I'll be visiting any parks - Carowinds is too far, 2 hour drive, and Jason's dad and brother would have no car unless they drop us off... but that's not happening.

Life sucks.
