It has been confirmed that there has been a shooting on campus and several people have been taken away by ambulance. All classses are cancelled on the DeKalb campus. People are urged not to come to campus. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
There has been a report of a possible gunman on campus. Get to a safe area and take precautions until given the all clear. Avoid the King Commons and all buildings in that vicinity.

The gunman appartantly was tall white skinny and wore black, he kicked in the door and started shooting a shockgun. All classes for today and tomarrow, my heart gose out to the familys and students.

5 victums (including the shooter) are prosumed dead some on the seen and as many as 17 victums where sent to Kishwaukee Community Hospital. 6 in critical condition 2 flown to Saint Anthony Hospital 3 flown to Good Samaritan Hospital 1 flown to Rockford Memorial Hospital 3 discharged, all classes at NIU for tonight and tomarrow are canceled, the shooting was at Cole building durring a lecture. It is said that the shooter enterd through a side door, then came out from a black currten and opened fire to the crowd, the students hit the floor then ran for there lives. Nobody knows what the shooters objective was but shoot, he had a shotgun and 2 hand guns. After the shooting the gunman shot himself on the stage and killed himself, this was 2 months after a threat wrote on a bathroom wall in grant towers prety much saying they wanted a shooting, then on the wall it said..."The Virgian Tech shooter made a mistake with one shooter"...That could meen there could be another shooter. The resedent halls remain open for counsiling.

NIU can confirm six fatalities, including the gunman. Four of the dead were female and two, including the gunman, were male. In total, there were 22 injured or killed.
NIU can confirm that the shooter was an NIU graduate student in sociology in the Spring of 2007 but was not currently enrolled.
At a press conference held on NIU's campus Thursday evening, NIU President John Peters said, "Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims and their families. We thank the community for the outpouring of sympathy during this terrible time of tragedy."
Peters urged students to remain calm and seek counseling. "We've asked them to reach out to each other during this difficult time, and they've done that, and I'm proud of them."
NIU's Open House scheduled for Monday, Feb. 18 is cancelled.
All NIU athletic events, home and away, are canceled through Sunday, Feb. 17.
The NIU Department of Public Safety is asking that any individuals who witnessed the Feb. 14 shooting, or who believe they have any information related to the shooting, call the University Tip Line at (815) 753-TIPS. Police will return calls as soon as possible.
The FBI is processing the crime scene and the investigation is being aided by the Illinois State Police, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms, the State Crisis Management Team, the City of DeKalb Police, City of Sycamore Police, DeKalb County Sheriff's Department, the Ben Gordon Center and the DeKalb, Sycamore and Cortland Fire Departments, as well as FEMA.

I thankfully wasnt on campus, but I almost was at work. My friend who was in that class, and who I worked with was killed. I also have another friend who was in the 3rd row, but made it out safely.

Last night they sang Amazing Grace and I thought that was pretty cool to all the people that lost their lives. In school today we sang Amazing Grace because of they NIU shootings too. I live in Rockford and my grandpa is a security guard at St Anothonys. I live a few minutes from that hospital and have to go there for my lungs in a few days.

I was live on Fox News Channel at 12:30 today. I was recorded on CLTV this morning and it aired at 5 and 6pm tonight. ABC World News interviewed behind me with another person I worked with. Associated Press was working in our office most of the day as well. Also around was WGN, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, AP, and others. A reporter came all the way from Brazil and asked for an interview, but I was busy with Fox..Milwaukee 2 was also on site. It was a giant mess of media today.. Cool experience, but I wish it was being done for another reason...

This church is way off wack to do something this stupid, this disrespectful, and this outrageous. I read the bible, i teach sunday school, i go to church every week, i consider myself farely religious, and there is NOTHING in the bible that backs up this church's beliefs.

I have a few friends down there and they're all accounted for. I was paying a tuition bill away from being there this semester, and that has been on my mind ever since.
