Studio 60 Theme Park Parody

A Off-Topic forum to discuss things that aren't related to the Amusement Park Industry.
Postby Coaster Justin on November 10th, 2007, 1:07 am
First, let me say that is has almost nothing to do with that TV show,

I just always keep reading posts saying "Why aren't there more Amusement Park airings"

MADtv did it at an adult pay-per-view
Conan did it at a Late Night Comedy
CoasterBoy did it at A Theme Park

Thing to know:
- Studio 60 fans will get the references more than non-viewers
- Florida Frontiers will be located about an Hour south of Wild Adventures in a city called "Lake City, Florida" which is a real place.
- "... Nobody has faith in" is a reference to nobody in my family thinking that the park is a good idea or realistic.

Now without further delay: Florida Frontiers On The West Panhandle Strip:

Justin (My Actual Name)
Brittany
Jillian
Steve
Lexi

Announcer : From Aaron Sorkin, the Creative mind behind The West Wing and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip comes the television event of the year. This season, NBC has the latest behind the scenes story that is being viewed for the first time on television, Florida Frontiers on the West Panhandle Strip.

Brittany : Everyone the park will open up with four themed lands and two coasters. OK Everyone, now we have to get the park ready to open today June, 2010. Justin (yells quickly to get his attention) I have to talk to you, right now!

Justin : Walk with me Brittany and tell me what the problem is. (Walking while talking)

Brittany : Justin, you said that the park would have hit commercials, and now you are reusing old Great America commercials. Justin, I may not have a business degree but I’m not a child.

Justin : Then quit acting like one. Remember we’re not doing a little kids park for two year olds. We’re not doing a park that is made to have 15 roller coasters and not a kids ride in the park. We’re creating a place for families in an untapped part of Florida, whose last Park closed in 2004. Now if you don’t mind, there are other things that need to be done.

Jillian : Justin, there is a major problem. (Talks serious)

Justin : Walk and Talk or you’re yelling at deaf ears.

Jillian : Listen Justin, there is a major problem. Florida Frontiers is currently being sued as Universal Studios is fining us about 100 Million dollars because we said we were bigger.

Justin : Meaning What?

Jillian : Meaning that unless we prove it, we are going to go into debt so low, that we won’t see money until our 20th year.

Justin : Listen Jillian, fix this as soon as possible and give me an update.

Steve : Justin, before the parks grand opening, can we do a prayer to thank out dear lord.

Justin : Sure (Eye Roll)

Steve : Why are we doing this Justin. We have no experience and no clue.

Justin : We are doing this because we aren’t here to just offer something that Disney doesn’t offer. We aren’t here to crush people hearts and wallets with high admission and minimal value. We are here to create a theme park that will entertain millions of guests a year with reasonable admission and an unparalleled entertainment offering that Florida doesn’t have. We aren’t here to create Disney, we are here to create Memories.

Brittany : Bad news, there are 40,000 people in line to visit the park and we barely have enough employees to handle the crowds. Justin you underestimated the attendance and the public reaction.

Justin : Isn’t that a good thing. Higher attendance means higher revenue meaning better year.

Brittany : Justin we don’t have enough employees to handle 40,000.

Justin : Can anyone here be an Employee, Is an Employee, knows an employee.

Lexi : There is a college about 20 minutes away with thousands of Students that need to make money.

Justin : There’s a college nearby?

Lexi : Where do you think we are, Gurnee, Illinois?

Justin : Remember, There are 40,000 people in front of the gates, ready to see the park, we have cameramen, and security all around the property and they are ready to see these here Florida Frontiers.

Lexi : Justin, do you have a minute?

Lexi : More like two seconds, go

Steve : Justin, I have to let you know, we have 9 minutes and 11 seconds until the launch that will take America into a new direction. You’d better bet you grandmother that this works or we will end in debt and have it all blow up in our face.

Justin {On Cell}: Brittany, Lexi, Steve, Jillian. Are you all ready?

The entire group circles and recites a prayer.

Justin : Everyone, 3, 2, 1 and Open.

Shows various ride pictures of the rides that will be in the park set to sparkly music.
1 : Vekoma Boomerang
2 : Chance Wipeout
3 : Chance Giant Wheel
4 : Intamin Looping Starship
5 : Moser Spring Ride 10
6 : Zamperla Flying Carousel
7 : Zamperla Bumper Cars
8 : Chance 50ft Grande Carrousel
9 : Intamin Log Flume
10 : Zamperla Galleon

Justin : And we’re out. Everyone how did we do?

Brittany : Fine, we ended up making more revenue today that we should have made in three week.

Justin : You said that we had a staffing problem, how did we do?

Lexi : The college kids were able to get here seconds before the park opened.

Justin : Michael, did we open the park on time?

Michael : We actually opened the park about four seconds before, to handle the large crowds.

Justin : Steve?

Steve : Everything was fine and we are sending 5% of today’s profits to the Hero’s in Afghanistan, right?

Justin : Yes and Jillian, how did we do?

Jillian : Universal checked things out and we can say we are bigger because Islands of Adventure is on 110 acres, while as Florida Frontiers is on 250 acres.

Justin : Excellent!

Announcer : Florida Frontiers on the West Panhandle Strip, finally a show that shows drama, passion, faith, and a star cast. Finally a show that shows the challenges of owning a theme park. NBC Finally brings you a show with drama, a show that will shock you. A Show with dramatic acting, tragedy, and emotion. You’ll never look at theme parks the same way again. Florida Frontiers on the West Panhandle Strip, finally a show about something that nobody has faith in.

Director_Guy this is something that I was going to do for a class at CLC but I Couldn't find the time or had the resources. So I'm showing everyone the script of what was going to happen. So you can either like it or hate/ mock it (Just like in my real-life.)

Again, as I said, if you have never seen Studio 60, you're going to think this is the dumbest thing I've ever posted (Next to Mount Olympus adding a B&M Silver Star Clone, Six Flags adding hotels, Magic Mountain adding flat rides, Mount Olympus adding a Vekoma Boomerang and many others. Man I've made alot of bad posts.)

If you have seen "Studio 60" or "West Wing" then you might think this is a pretty good recreation of what happens on the shows that Sorkin makes (I can't do an example because I haven't made any good posts. Seriously.)

You can hate it, or lock it if you want to. It's your opinion and I respect that.

Oh... I've never heard of Studio 60.

I can give you a tip, as far as scripts go. Make it more visual and less dialogue. Give the viewer, or in this case reader, something interesting to see .

Also, you seem to not like Disney.

I tend to think of Disney as the "Starbucks of Theme Parks"

Meaning : Just because Disney may have been the first, doesn't mean you can't find a similar but just as enjoyable experience for half the cost.

Disney : 71 Dollars + Tax
Great America : 55 + Tax

Also The last time I Visited a Disney park was back in 1991 when I Was 3. However, my mom said a story about her co-worker taking her kid to WDW and doing the character breakfast. The Cinderella didn't go to her table, seem to have ignored her, and for the picture, she didn't smile.

I would just rather go to a park where I Could Justify the admission for the number of rides. Animal Kingdom, in my opinion isn't worth the 71 dollars, But Islands of Adventure for 67 is in my opinion.

Just Curious, how many people would rather pay $71 for Animal Kingdom as opposed to $44 for Cedar Point?

OH MY GOD! CINDERELLA DIDN'T SMILE! That just tarnishes everything else that Disney has to offer.

Experiance it for yourself before you mock it, trust me, it's worth the money.

Well, if you're smart, you wouldn't pay the 70 bucks for Disney's Animal Kingdom. You'd get the park hopper, which I'd rather pay the $190 bucks it is for two days at WDW than two days at Cedar Point.

It's not that Disney was the first. It's that they are the best. They spare no expense in any department; food, cleanliness, friendliness, rides, shows. Especially rides and shows, they have the best I 've ever seen or experienced.

I'd say Six Flags is more like the Starbucks of the theme park industry, since there are more Six Flags than... well... pretty much anything.

And I admit Disney has been somewhat of a corporate monster (Das Maus if you prefer) over the years thanks to Michael Eisner. But whatever keeps the quality of Disney up is okay with me.

I grew up going to Disneyland and it's my favorite park. I suggest you head back to a Disney park some day. Not only do they have the great nostalgia that is lost on most people who haven't been since they were three, they also have great thrill rides (yes, they do!) for people like us. They create an environment that is so different from any other place on the planet. The only place that rivals Disney quality is Universal and even they can't quite touch it.

I'm slightly offended in your perception of Disney, but more so your unwilling ignorance. You should really go back some time soon and experience Disney. And take pictures, because I liked to live vicariously. :D

Your right Director_Guy, why would I want to spend 140 for a Cedar Fair Platinum good for an entire season to 12 parks, when I could spend 190 for 4 Disney parks for 2 Days.

When you say keep the quality, you must mean all the parks except for Disney's California Adventure

I've said it before but I'll say it again:
Walt Disney's Plan for Disneyland was supposed to let guests leave with some money.
When Disney died, Money became the top priority with a "Take everything, make them leave with nothing policy."

Did you know that Disneyland was originally 1.00 and Pay per ride. Now its 71 dollars.

I don't have the link to what I said but Wikipedia seems to agree with me because they say in Quote:

In 1982, Disney dropped the idea for individual ride tickets to a single admission price with unlimited access to all attractions, "except shooting galleries" . While this idea was not original to Disney, its business advantages were obvious: in addition to guaranteeing that everyone paid a large sum even if they stayed for only a few hours and rode only a few rides.

Disney is just that awesome.

Oh, and California Adventure is still a great park. And it will be even better soon.

Well, depends. They sold tickets in a book. You would get E-tickets and some D, C, B and A tickets as well, depending on how much you wanted to pay. It was pay per ride, but depending on the rides, you would need that ticket to ride it.
